3.4 Hazy amber colour, white head. Aroma of yeast, white wine, earthy, light citrus. Hoppy flavour, white wine, tropical fruits. Malty finish, hops, white wine, somewhat reminding of pediococcus. (from 33cL bottle shared by JulienHuxley)
4.0 bottle from beergeek in prague. reddish amber with a decent head; hop juice aroma with some sultanas, citrus zest and white grape; quite smooth; loads of white grape flavour, decent bitterness. another winner from evil twin
2.4 ask anyone. I like disco. If i hear Sister Sledge or Chic on the radio, there´s no stopping me: i just have to boogie. Now this beer I like less. Aroma of sweet malts, pine, grapefruit, yeast. Taste is sweet with some wtf sourness that is completely not at his place here. Bitter ending. Taste like an infected belgian style Ipa from hell. Messy and unbalanced . How anyone can enjoy this with a straight face is beyond me. Also, and that is the worst part, IT DOESNT MAKE ME FEEL DISCO AT ALL.
3.5 Bottle@wka. Broen hazy with sediment floating around. Interesting nose. Bit barleywiney, with oak, oxidated vinous tones. Dark ripe fruityness, some yeasty action. Well carbonated, surprisingly light-feeling body for the abv (and dark fruity nose). Fizzy. Flavour- wise pretty impressive. Oak. Chocolate. Herb liquor. Figsy jam. Dry though, and actually quite bitter. Not so sure about the ipa classification, feels like a dry bitter oak aged barley wine. Real interesting. Weird name tho. -- bb
3.9 (backlog) Bottle at a tasting at maxxdaddy’s. Hazy golden pour with some head. Hoppy citrus, pine and grassy aromas. Flavors follow, fresh.
3.4 Szép barackszíne, kiemelkedő kettőssége miatt volt nagyon különleges. Fanyar és édeskés is egyben. nyammmi ^^
3.3 Bottle. Hazy deep golden color with a medium sized foamy off-white head. Aroma of mandarin, peach, honey and sour milk. Bitter taste with some sweetness. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.8 Bottle, Beer Moth, Manchester. Deep amber pour with a big foamy off white head. Fragrant beak of citrus, piney hop and wood. Similar traits in the taste with some great hoppage unfolding alongside notes of spice, caramel and tropical fruits. Alcohol lurked in the shadows. Interesting and tasty take on the style.
3.5 Appeareance Dark copper orange, allthough quite clear body. The offwhite head is huge and soapy, with a long lasting retention, which leaves spots of lacing. Aroma: Very Complex, upfront there is a lot of caramel but what follows is Some old hops, floral notes, wood and vinious notes. Taste: Is quite complex, sweet, sour and bitter. Fruity hops and floral notes caramel wood and some dry sour vinious notes. Aftertaste is dry with a pallet of wood, bergamot, floral notes, sour grapes, vinious notes. Interresting brew, but not perfect. Replacing the freshnesss of the hops by wood and vinious notes just doesn’t seem tofully work. Allthough it’s taste is quite one of a kind.
3.6 Pours amber-copper with off white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, fruits, caramel. Taste is sweet, hoppy pine, caramel, fruits, and some alcohol. Overall: solid brew.
3.6 Bottle at home. Pours a hazy golden brown color with a large off white head. The aroma and flavor have ample citrus hops showcasing orange and grapefruit, earthy hops, sweet caramel malt with moderate bitterness and an oily feel.
3.6 Pours burnt orange with a 2-finger head that vanishes before you can say D-I-S-C-O. Aroma is white grape, sweet malt, liquorice, wood and a touch of pine. Very little hop presence but enticing and enigmatic all the same. Taste is predominantly sweet malt fighting against vinous qualities. A little oaky Dry and slightly sour (maybe some Brett) in the finish. Very little bitterness. Alcohol is inconspicuous. Notable lack of hop-presence knocks down what is a unique brew.
3.6 Poured from 330mL bottle. Very active pour. Hazy, golden orange with huge off-white head. Lots of caramel and citrus on the nose, quite malty. Flavour quite malty with a bit of sourness and a dry finish. Some hints of wood and decent amount of grapefruit. Medium body. Good, but the balance is quite there.
3.6 Bottle at home, 330 ml, into a snifter, ABV 10.5% Very dark copper orange, quite clear body. Huge off-white head, soapy, with good retention, leaving spots of lacing around the glass. Aroma has lots of vinous notes, light hops struggling to surface beneath all thath wine, old wood, some malts. Taste is also quite malty, again lots of vinous notes, alcohol, some peaches. Medium body, good carbonation, mildly dry palate. Tasty beer but I reckon barrel aging for IPAs does more harm than good.
3.4 Cloudy dark orange colour, with thick white head, you can taste the de molen influence on the beer, very complex finish.
3.4 Very malty and vineous aroma. Tastes hoppy, mostly aromatic, with a strong malty body. Some sweetness of the aging as well. Decent, bit too malty and too less hoppy.
3.8 Keg Half Pint at White Horse European Beer Festival 2012, Parsons Green, London in Aug 2012 - Reddish Amber Brown in colour. Aroma and taste are very vinous, winey, grapey. Very Fruity; grapefruit and orange citrus and tropical fruits. Hoppy; piney resinous and slightly peppery hops. Malty; toasty malts, some toffee. Alcohol quite evident; pronounced taste of dry white wine. Bitter-sweet throughout; fruity and dry. Dry bitter hoppy finish. Unusual but good. Nice vinous IIPA!
3.2 Muddy brown. Aroma is quite vinous, a bit woody, and has some alcohol as well. Sweet, bit of bubblegum, then chardonnay, then a lot of candy sweetness, cut only by a bit of alcohol. Interesting, but clearly not for everybody.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a clear amber orange beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma is very malty, slightly alcoholic and has some fruity notes as well. Big caramel presence, hops have faded. Flavor is rather sweet and malty again with touches of booze. Juicy hoppy influence and well balanced. Alcohol burn is not noticed. Light cloying mouthfeel, bittersweet aftertaste. Decent DIPA, that’s exactly it.
3.6 330ml bottle from Brewdog Edinburgh. £12! Ouch. Hazy amber put, thick white head. Big floral hop nose, some white wine. Bitter taste, wood notes. Clean finish. Good, but pricey.
3.6 Appearance: Hazy amber/copper with 2 finger thick ivory head. Aroma: Bread, vinous, acetic marzipan (not vinegar but not marzipan in between......weird), certainly smells like wine. Taste: Medium bitter and sourness with low/medium sweetness. Palate: Thick grainy texture, light/medium texture, average carbonation, lingering vinous, sharp, malty finish. Comments: Very good and lace.
4.1 Copper colour. Aroma has floral hops, caramel malts and a bit of bread dough. Explosion of flavour. It’s tart and fruity with some pineapple. The bitterness is moderate and the sweeter elements are balanced well by the tartness.
3.2 Bottled @ de Molen tasting, small sample. Almost clear golden color, short head. Soft aroma of some grapefruit, bit citrus, bit grassy, some malt. Medium bitter in taste. Quite one-dimensional and a bit boring.
4.0 Rating #1018 -March 9, 2014 - My pick for #botw and #beerguychrisgeekbeer for #week10. Clear golden-yellow pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. Citrusy sweet, mild floral, grassy hops on the nose.. Mouthfeel crisp, mild alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet orangey lemony notes with the spicy tang and huge dry hop bite lingers into the finish. Little chardonnay tang of dryness in the finish there too. Far out. Other adjectives associated with disco. And Such.
3.2 Bottle @ 2nd tuesday tasting. Aroma is sweaty hops, some yeast. Don’t like the aroma. Flavour is way better, big hops, nice balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Fruity notes. Nice.
3.7 Bottle at the March 2014 De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a clear medium to light amber with a bubbly white head and some broken lace. The aroma is strong woody hop resin. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a smooth wood hop light bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. For a 10.5% ABV beer, I couldn;t tell where the alcohol was. It was really super smooth and well balanced. I should buy some of this stuff for my cellar!
3.7 2014-03-07. Hazy dark orange amber body with a modest off white head. Aroma is quite interesting, fruity, orange, tropical fruit notes. Flavour is pleasantly bitter, pithy bitter orange and tangerine. Average bodied palate, pleasant soft carbonation. Pretty nice. Bottle several months old but doesn’t necessarily show it. 3.6 Hazy amber with a cream head. Nose is wood, light hops, vinous, and funky. Lively palate, wine, yeast, wood, light hop, bubbly finish.
3.2 I’m huge fan of IPAs and of evil twin’s beers but found this one a little disappointing. It’s bitter and a little grassy from the hops, quite yeasty and raw. I’ll have another and maybe like it better the second time around.
