4.1650 ml bottle at home, vintage 2015, shared by Sander, many thanks! Pours a nearly black red-brown with a red-brown head. The aroma is full of bourbon in front of sweeter roasted malt, cocoa and nuts. Full body with a very low carbonation, a medium to heavy sweetness, a light to medium bitterness and some booze. The flavor is again full of bourbon and wood and some booze up front followed by chocolate, cocoa, nuts coffee, umami. Finishes with more wood and roasted notes. Overall full of roasted malt and lots of bourbon. Very thick, full of flavors, excellent.

650 ml bottle, vintage 2015, shared by Sander, many thanks!
Black body, with a small, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of bourbon, melting dark chocolate, molasses, cocoa, dried fruits, liquorice, some coconut.
Tastes lovely, quite similar, with more tobacco, soy sauce.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes medium roasty, a bit dry, a bit sweet, wooden, with cocoa powder, soy sauce, tobacco, dark chocolate, alcohol
Very tasy! Greatly integrated bourbon barrel, leading to a creamy, comfortable sipper, with lots of dark chocolate, but also with enough roastiness. Very well balanced, sweet, roasty and bourbon barrel notes well dosed. Not among my favourite barrel aged Imperial Stouts, but still really lovely.
4.10,66l bottle at Powys shared by Sander, big thanks. Batch 02. Vintage 2015. black color, small very dark coffee colored head. smells of bourbon, whisky, earthy, licorice, bit nutty, marzipan. very nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, nice wood, bourbon, whisky, peppery, bitter chocolate, licorice. finishes lightly roasty bitter with notes of earth, wood and bourbon. good stuff overall a bit on the boozy side but overall great balance.
4.5Bottle. Deep opaque brown-black body, medium clumping ochre head. Dense, potent nose with layers of chocolate, charred sugar, black licorice, caramel, coffee, and of coarse tannic oak and warming booze. The body is charged--alive--decadent with an initial onslaught of sweet, dense charred sugars, roast, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, and smoke/bacon, tidied up at the end of the sip by tannic oak and prickly alcohol. It's the concentrate and other stouts are the water. Beautiful play on power and finesse by ET.
4.12015 bottle - at least that’s my assumption.
No head and low carbonation.
Doesn’t taste the 12% - which is pretty dangerous
4.5Tasted from bottle. Pours jet black with dark brown head. Huge chocolate aroma with molasses and some bourbon notes. Sticky thick chewy mouthfeel. Flavors of cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, bourbon, vanilla. Bourbon flavor is more subtle that a lot of BA beers. Very well done. Excellent sipper.
3.9Oxford tastings; bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Pitch black color with brown small head. Aroma of dark aroma, tobacco, molasses, alcohol, phenols. Thick body, it has a very good chocolate flavor, but the phenol is very strong, medium sweetness, smooth, a bit oily, some liquorice, strong alcohol.
Good, a bit chaotic.
3.8Bottle - Dark fudgy chocolate and bourbon notes. Jet black brown with a small beige head. Dark and sweet syrup notes with a rich dark molasses and a nice finish.
4.1650ml bottle (thx, I don't remember whom, lol) shared at Alex's. Pours a very dark brown with a dark brown head. Aroma is fruity bourbon, fudge. Taste is very sweet along with aroma notes. Fairly boozy. Good.
4.1Near black. Not much head on this one. Has a pretty robust roasty aroma, alcohol, Big, rich, roasty, and barrelly. I have to say, this is just a big, burly, crazy beer - not like I've never had anything like it, but high quality. Pretty damn good quality.
4.0Maybe 5 years old here. Rich sweet chocolate and bourbon. Maybe some cognac sort of sweetness as well. Aroma is plum and prune. Complex and rich. Thick and viscous.
4.0Bottle during Tasting; dark brown pour with a thin dark tan head, aroma has really creamy chocolate malts along with bourbon, taste is really sweet, some bourbon, slick mouthfeel, really good.
4.5By far the best beer I have had from Evil Twin. The barrel flavors are present but you still get a nice roasty tasting imperial stout. Well done ET.
4.1Bottle Vintage 2016
Alkohol: 12% obj.
W mgnieniu oka opadła do milimetrowego krążka. Wkrótce i ten utonął w piekielnej otchłani.
Intensywne kawowe nuty, lukrecja, ciemne owoce, pralinki wiśniowe.
Wyraźna słodowa baza okraszona silnymi nutami bourbonu. Czuć i zbutwiałe drewno i dębinę. Przede wszystkim jednak wanilię i leciutki marcepan. (9/10)
Smak: W smaku wszelkie możliwe czekoladowe fantazje: tort czekoladowy, muffinki czekoladowe, pralinki belgijskie, nutella, wafelki mleczne oblane czekoladą.
Wraz z nimi trochę melasy
i kakao.
Tutaj dobitnie czuć jednak chlebek ciemny z dodatkiem miodu.
Alkohol mocno rozgrzewa w gardle.
Alkohol chwilami zbyt mocno grzeje w gardle.
4.1Bottle from ABV. Spendy but worth it. Pours a jet black hue with a oily swirl of light beige head. A huge sugary nose, dark fruit and cognac. Very rich, oily viscous palate, dark fruit, ash, intense sweet barrels. Vanilla. Very good. Lovely beer. Huge but not cloying, complex.
4.2Bottle thanks to Douglas. I asked him to find this for me and he decided to surprise me.
A: Black body with a mocha head. Legs.
N: Bourbon, oak, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, rum, earth, coffee, oak, caramel, coconut, and shortbread.
T: Sweet and lightly bitter.
M: Heavy oily body, no alcohol, soft carbonation.
O: I can see how this got into the top 50. The blend of barrels works really well together, and this is very drinkable for 12%.
4.1Bottle at Portland tasting. Very heavy root beer brown. Fruity, rich red. Sweet, leather brown. Rich bitter leather. Quite nice.
3.9Bottle at Himmeriget. Copenhagen. Vintage 2017. Color is dark brown with very small brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Coffee, chocolate, dryness, some bourbon and roasted malts. Dry and surprisingly drinkable.
4.1Pours dark brown/black with minimal lacing. Strong bourbon which is awesome. Taste is bourbon and leather. Very nice!
3.62016 bottle drunk 3/18/17.
Pours a very dark, viscous-looking ebony with a dark tan head atop showing moderate to moderately-strong retention.
The nose is a good mix of lightly-to-moderately fudgey malts with light ash/char and more even roast. Bourbon-like notes emerge adding minimal spice and some liquor-like character but the barrel is reserved to mostly the coconut-like toastiness with strong vanilla as well. It’s not overly boozy; doesn’t seem raw, though the liquor and the 12% inevitably lead to some alcohol fumes. Lightly fruity and with some dry, bready and biscuity notes on the finish.
In the mouth it’s soft and malty with moderate sweetness. I’d prefer it even more dry, but it’s not a fudgey, syrupy mess, at least. Lots of toasted oak character, perhaps a bit heavy on it, with prunes, chocolate and caramel and a low but engaging carbonation. Lightly spicy whiskey-like notes with some minor warming from the alcohol. Nice stuff, though there’s nothing particularly outstanding to me here. Seems the slight amount of age has helped.
3.5A graceful aroma featuring a blend of sweet bourbon, scotch, dark chocolate, vanilla, solid spice and booze heat. Chocolate first on taste, then the bourbon and heat kick in. Vanilla percolates in the aftertaste. Just OK; nowhere near what I’d consider a top-50 imperial stout.
4.6Batch 1. Mega intensywna beczka. Wanilia i bourbon. Paloność, gorzka czekolada, sos sojowy, ciemne owoce. Bardzo oleiste, lepka wręcz tekstura. Znakomity, długi finisz. Przepięknie ułożone i zbalansowane, wybitne piwo.
3.8Strong barrel flavors here, strong bourbon and some port? Then all brownie batter. Some signature roastness in the finish but this is dominated with barrel notes.
4.022oz bottle thanks to Steve. First of the Jesus lineup. Normal inky black pour, small ring of head. Sweet, malty boozy aroma, molasses and wood. Taste is smooth, sweet and malty. Vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon. Syrupy and slick
4.322oz bottle thanks to Steve. Pours out pitch black topped with a tan head. Nose is rich malts booze bourbon barrel vanilla roast malts coffee. Taste is more of the nice roast malts chocolate sweetness bourbon barrel big booze and vanilla.
4.6Thanks Huhzubendah for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing pitch black with latte foam lacing.
The nose shows notes of sweet molasses and light bourbon with no strong alcohol heat. This is promising.
The palate is very full bodied and moderately but very gently carbonated. Lightly sweet with flavors of bourbon and a light vanilla background through out. Finish shows a light and gentle coffee bitterness. More gentle bourbon and lightly sweet molasses on the resurgence. No alcohol heat. Superb.
4.5Bottle from Crafted Drafts. Pours black with a medium tan head. Nose of malt, rich chocolate, sweet bourbon and some roast. Malty flavor giving way to smooth bourbon, then chocolate, kind of like liquor-filled chocolates before a slightly roasty finish. Yeah, good.
4.222 ounce bottle. Chocolate sludge with a lot of barrel in it. Booze. Sticky. Slick. This is just delicious.
