Evil Twin Even More JCS

Evil Twin Even More JCS

Brewed with lactose and with vanilla and coffee added.

Even More JCs, a 12 percent ABV “affogato-style imperial stout” brewed with lactose and conditioned on coffee and vanilla beans. An affogato—which translates to drowned from Italian—is a coffee-based drink that is usually made up of a shot of espresso poured over a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream.

A few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer maker rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to become such a divine hero you need crazy juice skills, a fake Minnesota dialect and a cool and exotic sounding name like Jean-Claude - it’s Even More JCs - an affogato style imperial stout.

4.1 Color negro, totalmente opaca. Textura casi oleosa. Carbonatación baja.

4.3 Pint can, 2017 vintage. Roasted malt aroma with notes of coffee, chocolate, lactose sugar and vanilla. Pours deep brown with a thin mocha brown head that has little retention or lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt, coffee and chocolate flavors as well as having a rich, full body and slick viscous mouthfeel. Finishes quite smooth with lactose sugar and vanilla flavors joining the roasted malt. Really nice imperial stout.
4.1 Pours like motor oil, thick oily black with a lasting tan head head with nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, coffee some malt and bourbon. Make sure it is not too cold and let it breathe for a minute before you start mouth to mouth. Taste is chocolate and coffee with a thick oily mouth feel and a malty boozy finish.

4.6 Can at Brava. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Ice coffee and chocolate notes on the nose and nose to tongue. Finished clean. Hides it’s booze well. Very quaffable.
3.8 Pours nice and black with thin head. Looks thick. aromas of coffee, vanilla & sweetness. Super smooth mouth feel. Lactose leaves sticky feeling on lips. Really good beer but more of a desert beer. Too sweet for every day drinking.
4.3 Dark brown, including the head which is of fine bubbles. Very full body and flavor, silky texture, highly alcoholic and foamy mouthfeel, lingering aftertaste, delicious finish. Assertively bittersweet, crisp, perfectly balanced despite the high proportion of sweetness. Hoppy, fruity, roast flavors, coffee, chocolate, raisins. Beyond belief delicious, couldn’t be better.
3.5 Black colour. Creamy brown head, three fingers, good retention. Difficult to see the carbonation through the darkness. Creamy texture. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, vanilla beans, distant coffee, hints of dried fruits like hazelnut, umami, almost meaty. Taste is chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla beans, distant coffee, spice, butter. Really sweet, almost cloying, like a dessert. Sweet finish with the alcohol well integrated. Molasses and something like butter mixed with spicy chocolate in aftertaste.

4.3 Opaque black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Lactose, vanilla, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee. 8/5/9/4
3.9 16 oz can pours an opaque dark brown with moderate light brown head that slowly vanishes without leaving much lacing. Aroma is full of milk chocolate, vanilla ice cream, espresso, and some roasted malts. Taste is very sweet and not as boozy as I expected. Body is full with a creamy mouthfeel. I would have enjoyed this one even more if the sweetness was tempered by some hops bitterness.

3.9 Can. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is quite roasted malty, coffee, brown sugar, mild chocolate and vanilla. Taste is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Body is full, texture is lovely light but syrupy, carbonation is soft. Finishes rather sweet with roasted malt and caramel. Fun stuff with impressive balance. Drinkability is rather low though.

Big sweet dark roasted malts, big lactose, big vanilla beans, dark chocolate, milk chocolate ice cream, caramel sauce, mocha ice cream, coffee syrup, chocolate milk, pralines, coffee candy, cappuccino. Very nice + very sweet dessert imp stout, almost pastry stout like, maybe a bit too much lactose even for a beer like this but who cares

Body is full. Sweet and sticky, but nicely aromatic with loads of sweet chocolate malt, coffee, and syrupy fudge. Very tasty.
3.4 Warning: one of my crappiest ratings ever for sure, hardly wrote down any notes. Opaque black color. Smell and taste malts, soft roast, sweetish dessert like. Heavy and full.
