3.3 Bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. Hay pale yellow to gold colour with a thick foamy white head. Aroma yeasty, tropical fruit and slight citrus. Taste is dry with a medium body.
3.6 Sampled at a tasting. Pale yellow pour, hazy, with a white head. Smells of brett, farmhouse funk, peaches. Tastes like brett, aspirin, funk. Dry, with a medium body.
3.6 Hazy yellow color with white head. Aroma is really heavy on the brett, covers everything else. Taste is more fruity but still has intense brett character. Body is medium and well carbonated. Not bad but the brett character is too intense.
4.1 660ml bottle shared at home. Hazy yellow / golden with a medium white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice bitterness with some funky sweetness. Grape, brett, tart, herbs, citrus and yeast. Great brew!
3.5 Bottle to IPA glass Consummation: Yeah...fuity and funky brett IPA. Spot on. Adjunct: Brilliant huge fluffy white head, smells a bit likes feces :(,
3.7 Bottle shared, thanks Will. Nice tropical fruit flavor with a bready mouthfeel and a good dose of funk, barnyard notes of goat cheese and yogurt, Quite enjoyed this series so far.
3.3 Bottle shared by Impuritylaw, nose is on brett. Aroma is on orange, green grapes, grassy hops, brett, astringency, more balanced by the sudachi.
3.5 kindly shared by impuritylaw@pre-BKL-tasting, thank you! Exciting to drink this side-by-side with the Sudachi version; this version seems to me like the original version without being pimped up by fruit additions. More harmonious than the sudachi version without the dazzle of the citrus bang.
3.9 Bomber shared by impuritylaw@pre-BKL tasting, merci! The sweet and balanced redemption to this version’s Sudachi Rebel without a cause: wellrounded both in aroma (green grape, Delmonte gooseberry cocktail) with an older lemon peel mustiness and herbal melissa peeking through. About the same in flavour, melissa tea with fresh lemon - the mouthfeel well-balanced between brett-dry, but never astringent. Well-done, but overall the question remains whether all that lovely fresh US-IPA juiciness needs to be dried out by brett at all...
4.0 Bottle from Biervana. Cloudy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is fresh funk, white wine, citrus fruits, grapes, flowery. The citrusy feeling is a bit like window cleaner. Taste is slightly malty, the fruits stay, dry bitter finish. Very foamy carbonation. Aftertaste has some of the citrus flowers again. The bitterness comes as a surprise, but this is a fine project! There needs to be more Brett IPA.
3.9 Thanks to willisread for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing cloudy light yellow with a finger of sedimented white foam. The nose shows orange zest and light brett notes. The palate is well carbonated with a medium body. Light citrus flavors of pineapple, a dry non-tart bretty funk forwardness throughout, and light notes of malt in between. Final hoppy bitterness. All comes together very well for a brett IPA.
3.6 Bottle shared at Ratebeer Tokyo W & CB Tasting. Hazy, glowing gold (almost milky). Lots of orange zest in the nose with some pineapple, light lemon zest and yogurt. Light body with champagne-like carbonation. Lacto yogurtiness on the palate, good crisp bitterness. Dry, yeasty finish. Almost like a mimosa in ways. Nice.
3.3 Hazy hazy hazy white golden color. Pours like very thick wheat. Massive Brett wheat nose. Very smooth body but lacks much depth. Very carbonated. Not bad.
3.8 appearance: hazy light gold, soapy white head, good lacing. aroma: extremely juicy, full of tropical fruit and just a hint of funk; smells very yeasty in general. taste: pineapple, mango, and lemon, with a bit of cracker, grass, and floral notes as well. finish: a bit funky, a bit sour, a bit tart. notes: Feels like a hoppy witbier spiked with brett, but the brett was an amplifier and not overwhelming. Very nice. Draft and Quench in Silver Spring, Maryland.
3.7 barnyard, basement aromas, citrus, cereal, golden, hazy, frothy, white foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, heavily sour, medium body, creamy, slick feel, lively, long finish,
4.1 Bottle shared with happyhoppy from Saveur-Biere.com. Color: cloudy pale blond beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: very fruity expression. Notes of mango, passion fruits. Pineapple, very exotic. Sweet balance and caramel malt. Grassy and hoppy finish. Very impressive beer. Taste: nice medium body with sweet caramel malt and fruits. Well balanced with small tart notes and exotic fruits. Really amazing! Aftertaste: perfect attenuation and sweet astringent. Very nice, good bitterness.
3.1 On tap at Sedona, CHO. Taste is soap, dirt, funk. Has an interesting flavor I can’t place... I kinda like it, but I’m not 100% sold.
3.4 [7558-20150816] Tap. Fruity yeast aroma. Hazy, pale orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head and some lacing. Bitter lemon pip and grapefruit hops juice flavour. Medium body is fairly bitter. Good, a little boozy. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4 (@ Cole’s, Buffalo, NY)
3.8 Draft at bistro on bridge. Pours hazy yellow with a medium sized white head. The aroma has tart citrus beyond belief. The taste has a very funky Brett presence, very funky, a bit bitter, bit of citrus.
3.7 I had this at Global Brew. Pours hazy pale yellow with a white head. Taste Brett, funky, citrus, not a lot of hoppy flavor. I thought this was good. I could drink this again.
3.6 Keg at Sedona Charlottesville. Hazy pale yellow, thin foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of brett, grapefruit, pale malt, lemon. The taste is brett, pithy grapefruit, pale malt. Medium bodied, creamy.
3.5 Sampled June 2014 A steady pour into my teku glass produces a three finger thick, light tan colored head. The beer is a nice amber color that shows a clear, nice copper hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of tropical fruit up front with a slightly musty backdrop. A more focused look at the nose yields an interesting, not quite peppery, Brett induced spiciness, as well as fruit notes that remind me of peaches, lychee, kumquat zest, fresh grapefruit juice, and just a huge, ripe citrus zest character in general. There is also a touch of supporting pine-needle character, and a light herbal character here, and there is a suggestion of hay like, and perhaps pale-cracker like grain. The beer is bitter, dry, and has a prickly, peppery carbonation to it from the get go. This is quite light bodied and quaffable, though also quite dry. It is not so dry though that the bright, fruit-laden hop character does not play a dominant role; flavors of kumquat zest, tangelo zest, some floral citrus / peach notes, a bit of guava, some lychee, and perhaps even a bit of funky mango. The Brett character in the flavor leans towards a supporting role with slightly musty notes, it adds to the spiciness of the hops, has a soft, supporting musty note, and a bit of a phenolic bite to it as well. This is a pretty nice beer, it definitely plays a nice mix of exuberant hop notes, with supporting, Brettanomyces character; this has significantly dried out the beer, but hasn’t gotten super funky at all.
3.8 Bomber. Pours a cloudy orange hue with a very large white head. A big funky fruity nose. The brett is very light, subtle, amazing that this is 100% brett, it folds easily into the citrus spicy hops. Lemons, some soft tropical fruit. Yeasty for sure, more like a hefe. Lovely beer.
3.6 2015-08-16. Hazy dark pastel yellow body with a small off white head and light lace. 3+ Aroma has citrus notes, fruit and moderate funk. Flavour is interesting, moderate dusty bretty funk character up front, mildly sweet pale malt and some nice fruit character. It finishes quite dry with a quick lightly astringent lemon note. Smooth average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. On tap at Coles, Buffalo.
4.0 Tap at Butcher and the boar with commonmac. Bumped pint glass. Gold with very thick foamy head and good lacing. Mild hop and soapy aroma. Slightly tart hop taste. Finish is nice.
3.7 Very enjoyable. Pours a supremely murky orange with a brown tinge, thick beige head leaves tons of lacing. The aroma is tart with lemons and orange rind up front, grainy and toasted malt notes and light funk. Tart lemons and hints of spice and fruity esters. Lemon tartness throughout with the brett making an appearance in the aftertaste. Mild hop bitterness with a bit of stonefruit and grapefruit coming in mid palate. An interesting brew!
3.5 650ml bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a generous white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon and yeast with some grainy notes. Taste is a lemon tartness with hints of yeast, grains and funk. Taste is a lemon tartness with a citrus hop bitterness and a malty sweetness. Grainy mouth feel. Light to medium body with generous carbonation. Overall, a pretty well crafted IPA with bretts.
3.7 Taste at Thirsty Monk during sour beer week. Intrigued enough to shell out the $$ for a bottle. Hazy yellow pour. Less in-yo-face than I expected. Nicely balanced between the funk and the bright NZ hops. Definite lemon and tart apple flavors stand out. Ends up being somewhat subdued- but in a classy way. Fairly dry and crisp. Pour was too warm so will have to bring some home and have a proper tasting.
3.6 Nice. Bretta very well integrated here. Hazy golden pour with OK head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Hint of citrus. Hood balance, and good stuff. Tap at Westbrook.
