Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break

Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break

Italy has a certain 'je ne sais quoi' - fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, the soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen - that's all part of the secret Italian ingredient - keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia.

4.1 1 pint from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours black, thin tan ring atop. Aroma brings rich grainy chocolate, sweet caramel, biscoff biscuit, hazelnut. All present themselves fully on the palate, with a noticeable chili kick. Flavours all seem well-presented, nicely balanced, chili kick is strong, but not obtrusive. Good stuff.
4.3 Bakgården Både & 190719. Black color with a tan head. Aroma is hazelnut, roasted malt. Flavor is hazelnuts, chili roasted malt, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, alcohol. Wow powerful beer.
4.1 1 pint can. Pours jet-black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, vanilla, earthy/nutty, roast. Taste is big, coffee, roast, vanilla, earth/tobacco kind of flavour, cocoa, chili pepper, some alcohol. Huge beer. Good one.
3.9 Can @ Både &. Black body under a moderate sized beige head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, hazelnut cream, coffee and pepper. Flavor is very sweet chocolate, malt, vanilla and hazelnut with hint of coffee and a discrete chili burn. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste. Nice like a chocolate confectionery, that means in smaller quantities for those with a sweet teeth. Quite decent pastry stout actually.
3.9 Almost black with a dense dark brown head. Aroma: Dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit and nuts. Taste is sweet and bitter with lots of dark malty roasted notes and quite a bit of chili flavour. A bit boozy.
4.0 Can, at Både&. A dark brown beer, unclear, with a small dark beige head. Sweetish aroma with cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla, oats, roasted malts caramel and nuts. Caramel, roasted malts, dark chocolate, some chili, biscuits and a good dash of hazelnut. Full body and a soft carbonation, with a light chili burn. Lasting finish. A very pleasant and sweet one. Delicious. 190719

4.0 (chilien, ~onctuo-pimentée, > nut, très bonne bière, but pas fan de des ‘biscotti’ en général : lack complexité)
3.5 Oily black pour with a tall, sudsy caramel head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma of huge roast, chocolate, nutty notes, some coffee, toffee, and dried peppers. Flavor is roast, char, a hint of smoke, deep roasted nuts, hazelnut, earthy coffee a hint of vanilla and lots of biscuit. Medium to heavy body, creamy entry, then immediately turning slightly slick then dry and slick. Good, but a little disappointing, like a really great 8% stout with some extra weak booze thrown in.
3.7 Pours black with large beige head. Coffee, roasted malts, molasses, dark chocolate, nice mild chili burn. Full body, oily texture and flat carbonation.

Smaak: geroosterde mout, rood fruit, wat pikante prikkel, noten, wat donkere chocolade. Volmondig. Matige koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: kleverig, zoet, pikant. Zeer complexe neus, de smaak is iets minder.
3.6 Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Chili Hazelnut Break 11% Inky black with a fizzy rusty tan head and a sweet hazelnut aroma that reminds me of the Heretic hazelnut beer. Full bodied and smooth with a bit of chili heat that precedes the sweet rich creamy hazelnut flavor. I don’t get any coffee from it and just a bit of boozy heat in the finish... quite nice but the original was better I think.
4.3 Finished the evening in style with my colleagues with this sweet and great imp stout. Great closure to a great day in TO.
3.7 Can from Beergium. Pours black color with small tan head. Aroma of quite roasted malts, chili, dark coffee, then some sweetness, caramel, chocolate, nuts. Quite full body, chili burns a bit thoroughly, aligns with the roasted malts, coffee and alcohol. Hazelnut presence isn't as heavy. Strong good imperial stout.
4.0 From backlog. Sweet, nutty and creamy with some roastiness, syrup, coffee and chocolate, hints of warming chili in the finish. Okay.
3.7 Copenhagen 15/6 2019. 47,3 cl can from Mikkeller Web-shop. Evil Twins usual triangular design in Red, Brown and Gold. Very gushy upon opening. Pours opaque, dark brown with a big, bubbly head. Disappears completely fairly fast leaving only meagre remnants of foam. No lacing at all. Aroma is intense, nutty and biscotti-sweet. Vailla, Hazel nut and some peppery chili notes lurking. A heavy dessert odor to this one. Fairly strong carbonation. Surprisingly light, a little sticky, tingling texture. Flavor is heavy sweet but partly balanced by a medium strong bittternes. a fairly strong chili bitterness gives a nice burning kick.
4.1 Can shared by a friend. Pours darkest brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, hazelnut and some pepper. Malty and chocolatey flavor with hazelnut accents before a slight pepper finish.
4.0 A 1 pint can, batch #001, but with no clear canned on or best before date. Poured into a snifter glass. It was black in colour with a one finger brown head that dissipated fairly quickly but left some spotty lacing. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, hazelnut and vanilla. Tastes of moderate sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, brown sugar, with a touch of hazelnuts and a hint of chili on the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, nice chocolate and coffee aromas. Taste has a nice chili kick but perhaps slightly on the sweet side for me.
4.0 Can. Black-brown color, coffee foam. Aroma: chocolate, caramel, nuts, chili, sweet. Taste: chocolate, caramel, nuts, light chili, warming, not bad.
3.9 Can 473ml @ Rasmus's hytte, Tvedestrand Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, maple syrup, coffee and nuts. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate, coffee, chili, sweet and burnt finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.2 Easter 2019. Pours dark brown thick tan head. Aromas complex vanilla, chocolate, oak, coffee, caramel, chocolate, hazelnut. Happy Easter! Great amazing stout, hits on so many levels and so complex.

3.9 On tap at Van Moll, Eindhoven. Pour dark brown color, beige head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, chocolate, chilli, vanilla. Taste is sweet, nuts, cocoa, coffee, hints of chilli, vanilla. Really nice chilli vanilla aftertaste.
