Evil Twin Modern IPA

Evil Twin Modern IPA

This is a tasty tribute to a beloved and iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. The style goes 200 years back - has been through every spectrum of the flavor palette and had it’s ups and downs on the IBU scale. This time around we re-created a contemporary style IPA - basically the taste of the perfect IPA right now. Understated hop flavors, fruity and crisp. The future is now.

3.8 12oz can - semi cloudy light yellow gold & medium white head. Fragrant aroma of floral hops and citrus zest. Tasty hop bouquet with crisp citrus, light floral and subtle herbaceous undertones. Delicious
4.0 Can. Hazy golden in color with a whitish head. Tropical fruity softness in aroma, some grassy summer meadow too. Mild bitterness and sweet fruity notes in taste. Really tasty brew.
3.5 Cloudy, brownish yellow colour with some white lacing. Grassy hops in the aroma, metallic. Light hoppy bitterness in the taste with a sharp finish, fruity. Low medium body, medium carbonation, smooth and airy mouthfeel.
3.8 355ml can. Hazy golden with a big frothy white head, good retention. Fruity aroma, citrus and grapefruit. Taste is fruity too, grapefruit, citrus, orange and lemon, light malt, long bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Decent no-frills IPA, does what it says on the tin.
3.7 Golden pour with decent head. Is what it says on the tin - a classic modern IPA. Some mango and tropical fruit on the nose with bitter citrus and grapefruit in the finish. Bready notes from the malt balance it out a bit. Good stuff.
3.6 18.04.2018 -- 12oz can from qoqa. pours a hazy pale golden with a big frothy head. aroma of flowers, apricots, mango. flavour of biscuit, mango, citrus (kumquat), onions. not so much sweetness nor bitterness for an ipa, slightly astringent finish. somewhat biscuity and caramelly, but still crisp.
3.6 35,5cl Can @ 3er Tiempo Tienda de Cervezas, Santander, Spain. Hazy golden colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is hops, citrus, tropical fruits, pine, malt. Taste is hops, citrus, mango, resin, herbs, malt. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.5 Puszka. W zapachu owoce tropikalne, ananas, chmielowe nuty oraz słony karmel. W smaku nadal tropiki, dżem z mango i papaja. Bardzo łagodne, nieprzesadnie nachmielona. Solidna, oldschoolowo IPA
3.4 Lata 33 cl en el Kraken 24..02..2018. (r260). Color amarillento pálido pajizo turbio con espuma blanca persistente. Sabores frescos cereales y maltas con suaves herbáceos verdes y cítricos. Florales. Recuerda una mezcla de cerveza de trigo con una ipa y una neipa. Cuerpo ligero fácil de beber con suave amargo. Buena, refrescante.
3.5 Pours a bright straw colour, thick white head, tons of lacing. The nose is fruity, tropical and citrus heavy with pine needle notes. Light caramel malts, bready and grainy notes. Bright and resinous with a sticky, medium bodied but somewhat heavy profile. Bitterness is lingering and moderately harsh. Nice beer overall.
3.0 Bit unclear, yellow colored, medium white frothy head. Aroma is of fruity and citrusy hops, some pale malt, bretty funky notes? Taste is same, medium sweet malt, bit caramel, moderate fruity and citrusy hops, again some bretty funkiness, medium bitterness, dry finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Is the brett intentional? Nothing indicates that it is... a funky can perhaps. Probably have to redo. (can, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)
3.4 Blik.
4.0 Hoppy biscuit aroma. Piney tropical fruit hop taste. Nice IPA.
3.6 Schöne Trübe, derbe Perlung, nah am Gushing. Schöne Fruchtnase, Zitrus, nicht zu krass. Im Trunk ebenso, Grapefruit, etwas kernig kantig. Hinten süß, nicht zu bitter. All day IPA.
3.9 Quality from Fuller's
3.8 Can. Tropical fruit hop aroma with notes of citrus, pine resin and caramel and biscuit malt. Pours pale golden colored with a decent white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with bright tropical fruit hop flavors with a little bit of caramel and biscuity malt. Finishes dry but quite smooth with grapefruit citrus and a hint of pine resiny bitterness. Pretty nice IPA.
3.8 Can from Mother Kelly's. Hazy deep orange appearance with next to no head. Tropical nose mango and passionfruit. Slight carbonation. Fills the mouth pleasantly. Tastes boozy and a lot stronger then it is. Easy drinking though.
3.6 Hazy golden, fizzy with a large soapy head, some lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine and biscuit, with notes of tropical fruits. Moderately bitter, biscuit, ale malts, light caramel, citrus and tropical fruits. Medium high carbonation, crisp and tasty. Lingering lemony and bitter after taste. Enjoyable, but nothing distinctive.
3.6 can - Hazy gold pour, aroma of citrus and resinous hops, flavor is crisp and bitter with some nice citrus notes and a good malt body.
2.8 330 ml can bought at YATA in YOHO Mall, Yuen Long. Looks: Translucent golden honey; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 1 minutes; Very good sticky lacing with active carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with strong passion fruits, mangoes, peaches, floral, sugar, spices, pine, bread, light lemon and grass. Taste: Mid to light sweet fair Ale malt, with grains, strong wheat, fair grapefruits, passion fruits, floral, light sugar, light spices, dough, lemon, quite strong bitter hops and fresh grass. Body: Close to medium body. Dry and very slick palate. Mouth Feel: Fairly good Ale maltyness in a somewhat empty but very smooth backgaround. Wheaty and grainy with moderate grapefruit but expressive passion fruits. Flowery with light sweetness, light spicy but very doughty with lemon to round. Fairly good. Hoppiness: Strong passion fruits, mangoes, peaches, floral, spices, pine, light lemon and grass in nose. Light grapefruits, passion fruits, floral, light spices, lemon and fresh grass.in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid to high-astringent bitter-sweet doughty finish. After Taste: Quite Dry. Grassy and quite bitter to mouth. Comments: This one has pretty nice tropical hoppy aroma which fades quickly, and the malt taste is empty, gariny with too much doughtyness (smooth oat maybe?) to offset the otherwise nice grassy passion fruits. Only a partial success. Once is enough.
3.7 Can @ Boxbeers. Pours Hazy yellow with a White head. Pine and grapefruit and mild yeast - Which is Tasty. Clean and Crisp.
3.2 Can from Crows. Poured a hazed bright yellow gold with a smaller foamy white head. Aroma of light tropical fruits, melon, guava and kiwi skins. Flavor is kiwi, melon, cantaloupe, guava and grain. Body is a bit full and foamy from the big foamy carbonation.
3.5 Tap @ Tørst. Pours clear yellow with medium white head, nice lacing. Floral, hops, fruits (mango and papaya), mild grapefruit bittetness. Medium body and average carbonation.
3.2 Mudded aroma and taste. No hop characteristic stands out to me. Slightly cloudy brass color. Modest head.
2.8 bright citrusy aroma. gold in color with nice long lasting head. taste is lightly of citrus hop notes
3.9 Can. Cloudy golden ale. Soapy white head. Good retention. Aroma: danky fruit, dough, some fresh resin, distant honey. Light to medium body. Soft carbonation. Rather dry taste. Subtle honey starting. Dough in the middle. Hoppy ending. Resin, grapefruit. Solid still soft bitterness. Hugely drinkable and refreshing. This is the IPA how I like it even though it may not be the ever best of style.
3.1 12 oz. can. Batch #013. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, over a hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose initially is fruit with citrus peach tones, evolving quickly, to grass, dank tones, moderate allium, minimal malts, balance heavily to the hops.....taste is mild malts, with light cracker, dank grass, light pine, allium, finishing with moderate hop bitterness, balance to the hops......mouth feel, medium body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. The hops are dominant, and have an unpleasant allium in both aroma and flavor. A change in the hop profile would improve the beer as would a slightly more present malt backbone. BJCP 5/3/9/4/5
