3.8 22oz bottle from Supermarket Liquor Pours slightly cloudy golden with a medium sized white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of pepper, spices, yeasty and lemon. Flavors of spices, mild malts and floral Nice and tasty
4.0 A- pours a hazy dirty apricot with massive off white head with substantial lacing. S- Cornucopia of aromas. Great pepper stings and bazooka joe bubble gum yeasts give balance. Apricots, lemons, and doughs add a bit of decadence. Grass, must and soaps are more pungent towards the back end. Plastics and medicinal as it warms. M- medium tacky body with a good astringent burn. T- spice rack up front with pepper, cloves, coriander, tarragon and faint basil. Bubble gum in the middle with strong soap. Lemons , grass and a vinyl resin. Minerals and fading hops on the strong end. Good collaboration as strengths of both breweries are present.
4.0 Bottle. Musty white pepper and lemon malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow with minimal head. Sweet milky orange-lemon, malt, and lightly bitter herbal hay flavor. Light white pepper finish. Nice.
4.5 A terrific saison-like Belgian blonde that has all the care and craft you expect from Sante Adairius - never mind Evil Twin was involved, nor that it was brewed at Westbrook in South Carolina. Musty aroma, a real deep malty tongue coating, and a bready, grape/herbal taste that’s both earthy and thick with flavor. Loved it and am hoping to find more bottles of this while they’re still around.
3.7 Bottle: Hazy yellow-orange with a lacy white head. Lemon, horseblanket, white pepper aroma. Taste is yeasty, lemon, grain malt....slightly funky,...peppery. Pretty pleasant...dry.....a nice one.
2.4 This poured a lighter orange color with a white head. Aroma.was of oxidation, peppery character. Flavor similar, card paddy, peppery heat. Weird.
3.3 Cloudy yellow pour with a white head. Aromas of alcohol light banana and pepper. Slightly oxidized but fairly unique. Sweet taste. Meh.
3.7 Pours golden slightly cloudy. White head. Peppercorny, fruity lemon Citrus brett Pretty decent on a hot day
3.7 Growler from Giant Eagle in Grandview: murky bright yellow pour with visible carbonation and white head. aroma of lemon, citrus zest, pepper, bread. tastes are peppery with the light funk coming in late. also yeast, citrus, grain, musty and a little apple. finishes even spiced and light dry. don’t think I’d like this near as much without the funky brett influence balancing things out. good overall.
3.8 Cool and unique brew. Odd pepper spice complements the yeast and Brett. Crushable and complex at the same time. Fruity with some zest.
3.4 Tap at tipsy cow. Pale orange. Faint spicy aroma. Taste is yeasty, peppery, and fruity. Light soapy. Refreshing
3.6 Bottle. Hazy white orange pour with a big white head. White and black pepper, grape, spice, apple. Has a hint of white peppercorn at the end but only a hint. More white peppercorn is better. Medium body. Fruity
3.8 Aroma is wet hay and red grapefruit. Taste is straw, light peach and tangerine. Not much pepper, some light clove.
3.5 Love pepper beers and Evil Twin makes a good one. Nice bitey notes on the aroma and a cracked pepper finish on the palate. Delightful.
3.5 650 ml bottle, Chalice shows a hazy cloudy gold with very little head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, light fruit and clove. I really like the yeast profile here, clove, light grassy notes and a subtle pepper in the finish. The pepper compliments the yeast. Nice zesty mouthfeel. This beer isn’t about hops it’s about the yeast. Nice.
3.7 Bomber shared by Adrien. Pours orange beige with a few white bubbles. Aroma is molasses, wet cardboard, a hint of banana. Flavor matches the aroma, with pepper in the finish. Nice.
3.5 Backlog rating. Keg at CBC Clapham, Craft 100, London. It pours a hazy yellow color with a medium white head. Aroma is funky and herbal, with notes of brett, black pepper, vegetables, wood, ripe apricots. Taste is lightly tart with a bretty peachy sweet note and more peppercorn notes. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Overall, interesting flavour profile although I’m not the biggest fan of peppers in beer
3.0 A nice unique take on a blond. Pours an ugly clear yellow with a white head. Smells of citrus, apple and pepper. Taste is more basic, with lots of pepper and maybe ginger, and a pilsner-like finish. Had in the bottle.
3.6 Bomber from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. App.: Cloudy light golden with a full, fluffy off-white head. Aroma: Bright and zesty citrus, Saison spiciness, light funk, tropical fruits, light bitter herbs, cereals, nice. Palate: Medium body, fairly relaxed carbonation. Flav.: Zesty citrus, Saison spice, bitter green herbs, a little more funky than the nose, boiled cereals, tropical fruits, quite nice; dry with gentle bitterness and a long, fruity, lightly spicy finish. I like this Joey fella.
3.4 Light hazy golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, yeast, white pepper, brett. Light sweet, light bitter flavour, malts, yeast, light spicy, basically a Belgian tripel. Yeasty finish, spices. (from draught @ CBC green session, Copenhagen 2014. Thanks for sharing today’s beers, RateBeer crew!)
3.6 bottle, from Paddy O Beers Raleigh. Good aroma, sweet, spice. good aroma, sweet, fruit. apricot, brett, pepper. hazed goldenorange color, good head, ok lace. sweet sour flavor. medium body, viscous creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish, it’s nice, brett becoming more apparent as it warms. subtle pepper. 3.7 650ml bottle from Whole Foods Bowery, New York @ Varjopikkujoulut Pours orange with a thick white head. Aroma of funky yeast, bretta, fruits, spices and earthy notes. Taste is carbonated, fruity and earthy with some funky yeastiness, bretta and spices. Finish is spicy, crisp and carbonated with some bretta and yeasty notes. Okay, quite fizzy and spicy bretta blonde.
3.4 66 cl bottle @ tiong, no BBE found. Aroma is fruity and spicy with strong apricot tones. Flavour has soapy & hayish tones, apricot and candid sugar. Too much CO2 and sweetness – and no pepper here.
3.3 650 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a white head. Aroma of citrus, some spiciness and orange peel. Flavour of citrusy hops, floral notes, orange peel and grass. Medium bodied and high carbonation. Some earthiness. Way too high carbonation. Only decent.
3.8 Bottle. Golden pour with really fluffy white head. Spice, yeast, hints of Brett and fruit aromas. Yeast and spice, light Brett dry finish.
3.6 A hazed blonde ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice sweet fruity malt, vanilla fudge, and fruitcake, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with dried grapes, coriander, but very nice. On tap at common market South.
3.8 Pours a hazy gold with big fluffy white head that leaves good lace. Aroma is big brett funk and saison farmhouse yeast, peppery esters. Taste follows with a nice lemon citrus back end. Heavily carbonated, lingering funk, hint of booze. Good stuff.
3.8 Smakprov på CBC i Köpenhamn 2014. Smak och doft av humle, malt, vete, brett, citrus, pepparkorn. Viss syrlighet, lagom sötma, sträv beska med smak av maskros.
3.5 Draft at Ei8ht Ball from notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have Belgian yeast, yeasty bread, peppery spice, mild fruitiness, with some dryness and mild bitterness to the finish. Easy drinker, maybe I could revisit a bottle.
3.4 On tap @ 10 East - Aroma - tangy lemony aroma, green apples, light dried fruits and sour melon. Appearance - clear golden body, light carbonation, 1" frothy white cap. Flavor - light earthy hops, touches of peppercorn, honey malts, and more melon-like flavors with a faint spicy/dry finish. Didn’t get much of the brett but there wasn’t much sweetness either. Overall - easy to enjoy. I could see this being paired really well with a turkey sandwich.
