Evil Twin The Cowboy

Evil Twin The Cowboy

Smoked pilsner.

I need to know what kind of beer cowboys drink, as I have recently become one. I want to be the best cowboy I can be, and I think drinking the correct beer is important. I already have a cowboy hat and a nice big shiny buckle.

3.1 Der er nu ikke meget røg over den. Fin pilsner med meget humle og fylde, men røgen skuffer.
3.4 Gold color. A little hazy. Crisp flsvor with a mineral character.. I perceive very little smoke at all in the flsvor or aroma, ao very disappointing in that regard. Solid pilsner anyway.
3.2 Bomber. Pours a clear golden with a white head and smokey, malt aroma. Taste is smokey as well, of malt, caramel, and wood notes into the smoked finish.
2.7 With Z, pours a clear rusty golden color with a small head . Nose is rustic smoke . Taste is very smokey, perhaps a bit overdone . Finish ends on heavy smoke as well. Too much smoke with no off setting notes . Fair at best . Quaff Score 6 / 10
3.0 12oz bottle - pours a murky light orange gold with a med soapy white head. Funky aroma of light smoke, earthy hops, barnyard and a hint of leather. Equally odd flavors
3.5 Bottle 355ml, a golden beer with medium head. Nose is on orange and smokes notes, aroma is on caramel, smoked malt, orange, quite smoked, dry toasted malt, ok even if not that complex.
3.0 355ml bottle. An interesting brew, the crappy pils base is saved by an interesting smoked character but this wouldn’t hold a candle to schlenkerla.
2.8 Bottle. Pours a dark golden color with a thick head that fades to ample lacing. Aroma of citrus, malt sweetness and bit of smoke. taste of citrus, some caramel sweetness and smoke. Solid bitterness with a lingering smoky bitterness. Moderate body, crisp and smoky. Not really into smoky beers.
3.7 Bottle. A- Subtle smoke, ham, wheat. A- Gold orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Smoke, subtle ham juice, subtle bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Tasty stuff. A nice amount of smoke to make an otherwise normal pilsner very tasty. All around some good stuff.
3.3 Bottle. Strong smoked aroma. Pours cloudy and dark yellow with a small head and good lacing. Smoked ham flavour with some bitter orange/citrus notes. Full bodied. Lingering smokey finish.
4.2 The Cowboy deserves to have its pour scored to the original theme from Sergio Leone’s The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Okay, to be fair, I don’t know if The Cowboy should truly make us think back to that point in history, but then again, neither should Leone’s films. Damn things were filmed in Italy, hence the name Spaghetti Westerns. What the hell am I going on about? Ah well, I guess the point was to say that something doesn’t have to be consistent with reality to be seen as authentic. The Cowboy is like that. It’s a smoked beer that isn’t much like a smoked beer. Yes, it’s darker than your average Pils with almost an orange color. Just of touch of smoke in the aroma along with bread-like yeast notes. Flavor somehow manages to capture both clean Pils malt and a touch of savory smoke. How’s it manage to do both? Beats me, just gimme another.
3.2 Yellow pour. White head. Smokey aroma. Smoke and hops and smoke. I’m sure smoke lovers will like. I like some mild smoke, but not into this.
3.6 (bottle) hazy, bright yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of smoke, whiff of noble hops, then saltiness, finally smoked fruit; dry, subdued flavour with a long, very light bitter finish; slightly creamy palate; interesting
2.5 On tap @ Craft Beer and Co Clapham, London - UK. Color: clear golden blond beer with small carbonation and medium white foam. Smell: malt and smoked malt. Woody notes. Taste: medium body with smoked malt and smoked wood notes. Strange balance but ok... Aftertaste: dry smoked notes. Not my style.
3.4 Bottle 33cl. Golden, hazy with a medium white head. Hoppy aroma, spices and citrus. Killer bitterness, light citrus and smoke ending.
2.7 Neither especially smoky, nor Pilsnery. Plenty of carbonation with a head that never fully disappeared. Light, slightly hazy and very well behaved in the glass with gentle lacing. No real hint of Saaz, but crisp and easy to drink when cold. As it warms, hints of citrus push through with a slight pear in the aftertaste. I tried to find the smokiness but couldn’t really, and while I appreciate that smoke could easily overpower such a light beer, what smokiness there was could easily have been mistaken for wheat.
4.7 just enough smoke to pair perfectly with anything off the grill! Yet still crisp and clean like you look for in a pilsner
3.5 Aroma is sweet and smoked roast malts with hickory and light pepperoni. Taste is sweet light malts balanced well with some light clove and earthiness. Appearance is a clear gold with small sediment in suspension.
3.6 Hazy, pale gold. Frothy white head. Aroma of grapefruit, smoke. Taste is tart, citrus, with a bitter, earthy smokiness. Lingering smoky finish. Light body, lively carbonation, slightly oily mouthfeel. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
3.4 12 oz. bottle poured at home. Day 13 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours a cloudy orange with a huge white head. Took forever to pour because of the head. Smell was lemons and no smoke. Taste was kind of like grapefruit with a nice slightly bitter finish. I got a bit of smoke on the taste but not very much. The beer is good but it wasn’t what I expected at all.
3.5 Bottle to tulip Consummation: Halved grapefruit with a sprinkling of sugar. Adjunct: Lemon, not smoky nor pils-y, the carbonation burns. Is this a mislabeled beer?
3.6 Straw yellow pour, multitude of small floaters, huge white head (I wasn’t expecting the level of carbonation on the pour), some lacing, leaves a nice thin cap. Nice round grain aroma, not much smoke but there is a slight earthiness / heavy presence there. Taste i well balanced, again little smoke but heaviness to the grains. Medium body above average carbonation. Could drink quite a few of these.
2.9 Craft Beer Advent Calendar Day 13! Really nice pour into a pilsner glass. Medium yellow hue with a big foamy head. Decent lacing. Unfortunately smoked flavoring usually tastes really artificial and "meatey" to me unless done right, and that’s unfortunately the case here. Nice presentation but the taste just wasn’t for me.
3.6 12oz brown bottle from the 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Yellow colour, unlcear, lots of carbonation bubbles rushing through the liquid, big airy white cap. Nose has fruit and lemon but not very smoky... hmmm. Taste - grains, smoke (there it is!), grass, lemon. Nice overall, smokiness is subtle, but adds a nice touch to a decent lager.
3.2 Bottle of pint glass. Pours Pours cloudy straw ye colour with whith head. Aroma is light smokiness an floral hops. Taste is about the same. Not bad for A smoky beer.
4.0 CBAC day 13! Love that the smokiness is nice and balancing rather than dominating on both the Aroma and flavor. Clean malt profile with the clean pilsner yeast characters... Crisp finish with some smoke and campfire...could drink many of these.
3.7 Appearance: clear pale gold with a fluffy three fingers and growing white head, excellent retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: light smoke, citrus, grainy pale malt, grassy. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-low bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, lively carbonation, longish sticky sweet slightly smoky finish. (4/5) Quite a lightly smoked pilsner, quite pleasant. Crazy head retains all the way through, finishing as a marshmallow on the bottom of the glass. I guess cowboys like their cigarettes in their beer? (15/20)
2.6 2015 beer advent. Pours slightly cloudy and quite light. Mild smokiness, which is nice, not overpowering. The beer is not perfectly cleanly brewed though in my opinion.
3.4 355ml bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a finger of white head that leaves only a few spots of lacing behind. Aroma is smoky with some lemon and cereal grains. Taste is a lemon tartness with a caramel malty sweetness and a citrus hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty good brew for the style, as the smoke does not overpower the rest of the beer. Very enjoyable and recommended.
3.5 Part of 2015 Advent Calendar. Pours cloudy yellow, small head. Aroma of cardamom, sweetly smoky. Taste is sweet, hint of smoke, lemon, tasty.
