4.8dark black, tan small foam, fruity berry alcoholic aroma, sweet, slight sourness from carbonation, peppery hot, spicy, vanilla, rum, wood, coconut, barrel, brandy, roasty, hint of dark chocolate, overripe brown bananas, sharp, full body, oily slick, slight bitter, smooth, tart, pungent, cake or biscuit, touch of alcohol
3.5De Hopt. En copa Teku. Viendo Sex Education 2x06-07.
4.3Bottle. Pours black coffee some tan lacing and limited head. NOtes of coffee, chocolate, roasted grain, mexican coffee. Taste big sweet, medium bitter. Medium creamy mouth lively carbonation.
4.1Poznań ul. Niegolewskich
0,65 l, 25.12.2019 i 2021
3.9Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy, dark brown head that disappears quickly. Smell is dominated by sweeter notes of almond extract and vanilla, with cinnamon standing out as well and lighter notes of roasted, caramel malt, dark chocolate, coffee and chili peppers. Taste is a decent balance of roasted, caramel malt, strong notes of cinnamon and almond extract, some vanilla, dark, bitter chocolate, coffee and lighter notes of chili peppers and marzipan. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some almond, vanilla, chocolate and chili peppers lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light/medium carbonation.
I absolutely love a good Mexican Chocolate Stout, but the balance is absolute key here and although this grew on me as it warmed, I'm still not sure on where exactly I stand with this one. On the one hand, there are some quite nice, roasted, dark, bitter chocolate and coffee notes to this, as well as a good, mellow chili heat, but on the other hand the cinnamon and sweet vanilla and almond notes are bit too pronounced for my personal taste, with the sort of artificial almond extract note being especially marring. While this is enjoyable enough at the end of the day, it's a bit of a typical case of 'too many adjuncts' and I'm quite looking forward to the bottle of MT Mexican Cake I got in my fridge without the almond extract and coffee.
4.00,65 litre Bottle, from Vinmonopolet Lillehammer. Black with light brown head. Roasted malts, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, chilli, Chocolate.
4.0Served up at Republic during Black Friday event with commonshawn and blonderedhead. Black in color as you would expect. Nose has notes of cinnamon and hints of spices and dark chocolate. Taste has plenty of significant pepper elements with roasty, nutty coffee characteristics. Brings in cookie notes that pair well with the spice. I'm a big fan of this one.
Aromat intensywny, kawa, kakao, papryczka, ciastka czekoladowe i wanilia.
W smaku na pierwszym planie czekolada i kawa, ciastko czekoladowe o wanilia dalej. W posmaku delikatna paprykowa ostrość.
Świetne piwo, kawa i czekolada grają tu główne rolę. Fajny efekt amerykańskiego ciastka czekoladowego, do tego delikatnie papryczka.
3.818/20 Huge chocolate and coffee well balanced with the hint of vanilla sweetness. Chilli just right. Awesome beer
3.7Coconut and vanilla. Too sweet for my taste, candy flavour. Some tobacco and leather, but vanilla sweetness is too heavy
4.31 pt. 6 oz bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. For a dessert - chocolate cake with habanero. Great indeed, but since I drank this alone, a smaller bottle would have been better. Contains coffee, cinnamon, almonds, cocoa nibs, vanilla and habanero chili.
3.5On tap @Mikkeller in Warsaw. Coffee bean pour with a quite persistent ivory foam. Nose: softly spiced, mild olive, chili chocolate. Mouth: a baby version of the magnificent Mexican cake imo, not sweet at all and even kind of bitter.
3.6Bottle. Black. Co oa powdery chocolate on nose, dry chocolate cake, malty. Full bodied, soft smooth, semi sweetness cut by that choco powdery bitterness. Light chili burn in finish. Clean smooth ok
4.10,75l bottle shared with friends. Pours black without head. Thick mouthfeel. Lots of coffee, cocoa and sweetness. Really good.
4.5Svart farve, lukter,vanilje,kaffe,kokos,malt, god fylde
4.022oz bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and topped by a medium tan layer of foam that slowly settles to a thin film and leaves some streaks of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, cinnamon, and toasted vanilla over a dark roasted malt base and a touch of chili pepper spice floating in the back. The flavor follows suit with notes of dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, vanilla, and cinnamon spice and backed up by a firm bitterness from the roasty malt base and some nice heat from the chili peppers on the back end. Full bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation that leads to a dark chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and roasty finish with lingering hits of chili pepper spice. Not one thing overpowers anything else and all the flavors are integrated really well. Really solid imperial stout here and one that has held up quite well.
4.0Backlog rating. The aroma has roast, coffee, mocha. Black coloured beer with a brown, thin head. The taste is light-moderate bitter with some sweetness, roast mocha. Almost no pepper present and that is excellent.
4.2Big bottle shared. Pours black color. Flavor of chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, sweetness, dark fruits, cinnamon, chiliness, marzipan, vinous notes and alcohol. Quite sweet and dry, Christmas spiciness, above medium bitterness. A bit burning dry aftertaste, with alcohol and chili burn. Has a lot of tricks that mesh together quite well, really good imperial stout.
4.70,65l bottle. Pours jet-black with brown head. Aroma of cocoa/dark chocolate, roast, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, black pepper. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roast, cinnamon, habanero comes through as a warming heat in the back of the mouth, Finishes on a chocolate/cinnamon note. Amazing.
4.1Van 't vat in De Bierboom te Brugge. U: Zwart met een licht bruine schuimkraag. G: Geroosterd, cacao, chicorei en wat peperigs. S: Zoet met een lichte moutbitterheid. Cacao, geroosterd en de habaneropepers. Alcoholwarmte. M: Volmondig met een lichte carbonatie. Licht sticky en romig.
4.4Appearance is nearly black, a small brown head which quickly dissipates. Aroma- coffee, cinnamon, brownie, spices, dark chocolate, roast malt, chocolate fudge, leathery hints, vanilla. Taste- rich coffee, cinnamon, nutty notes, marzipan and almond, charred dark fruits, burnt treacle, toffee, roast malt, tiramisu, nutmeg and other peppery, spicy hints, dark chocolate milkshake. Chilli heat. Underlying sweetness but some bitterness toward the end. Smooth and abv is well-hidden. Very tasty indeed.
4.17th International Pre Brugge Beer Festival Bottle Swap (in De Bierboom); Friday 1st Feb 2019. One of three draft beers available on the night, this being my second beer of the evening. Black and viscous, tanned foaming top. Malty, with a coffee, vanilla and chocolate leaning in both the aroma and taste, very drinkable and very pleasant; slight heat bite also within the flavours.
3.4650ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, very small, frothy to creamy, fading, brown head. Roasty and chocolately, dark malty aroma, a smoky and peppery spicy touch of chili, chipotle, notes of dark chocolate and coffee, whiffs of cinnamon and vanilla. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty, chocolately and peppery spicy, notes of dark chocolate, hints of cinnamon and vanilla, chili. Not really unfolding: somehow narrow, almost watery basis, grafted flavours find no real inclusion. Disharmonious, unbalanced, unintegrated. Not a fusion of two notorious Impy Stouts, rather a parallel motion of antagonistic, repellent components.
3.8Bottled 660ml (tnx Yozora)
Opaque colour, small steady brownish head. Aroma has chocolate cake - cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and habanero. Medium to full-bodied. Soft sweetish flavour has cocoa, quite evident vanilla then cinnamon and coffee. Suprisingly habanero is shown more in the nose than in the taste. Hides ABV nicely. Slow dessert sipper.
3.2Toń ciemno brązowa. Piana niska, opada do atolu.
W aromacie lukrecja, czekolada, karmel, migdały, alkohol.
Ciało rozwarstwione, część lekka, reszta ciężka i oleista, nisko nasycone. W przełyku leciutko grzeje alkohol, a papryka umiarkowanie piecze.
Smak jest króciutko gorzki a potem zdecydowanie słodki - kakao, czekolada, toffi.
Całkiem fajne piwo. Podoba mi się umiar we wpływie dodatków, choć cynamon mógłby być ciut bardziej widoczny.
