Evil Twin Without You I'm Nothing

Evil Twin Without You I'm Nothing

You know story, a dull-looking guy - he is dry, maybe a tad overweight and let’s face it, not very charming. But somehow he hooks up with a piquant, profound, and very attractive girl. She finds him oh so down to earth, loyal and cute, and even though it’s such an odd paradox, they make a very interesting and charismatic couple.

3.6 Pours a Cola color with a thin very short lived white head. Aroma is lots of vinegar, lacto, decent aroma until after a second there is some noticeable dirty smell, almost like a gym sock. Taste is better, starts sweet with some caramel, then goes to medium sour berry flavor and some vinegar, pretty good,a bit of an odd after taste.I was a bit scared to try this from all the bad reviews, but I enjoyed this brew, just an acquired taste I guess.
2.4 Bottled at ekstedt dec-11 Hazy dark amber. No head. Sour vinegar, earthy. Some solvent. Way too sour and unbalanced; acetone.
3.3 (500ml bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, and burnt toast. Flavor of caramel, light burnt bread, plum, cherry, berries, brett, and lacto.
2.3 (500ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) medium brown, soapy offwhite bubbles. Nose of chocolate, sour, wet wood, not complex and very odd. Taste of vinegar, acetic acid, cranberry syrup, kind of gross, chocolate, sawdust. Not my favorite despite my love for sours.
2.8 from Erzbierschof - cloudy dark ruby-brown beer with a chaotic foam left; aroma of sour cherries and vinegar; medium-bodied; tart and crisp, poorly tasty; sourish with some sweetness; short and quite dry aftertaste of herbs and sour cherries - not terrible
3.2 Bottle. It pours an unclear, dark amber body under a minimial sized off-white head. Vinegar, roasted malts, dried fruits and a funky, bretty touch on the nose. The flavor has a lightly sourish note, almost vinegarish, kept company by dried fruits and some leathery, lemony and barnyard-ish flavors. It’s dry, tart and pleasantly carbonated, with a lightly citric finish. A beer lacking a bit on complexity, but it’s quite nice anyway. 111229
3.6 Bottle from BrewDog website. Very dark brown with ruby red highlights. This beer has a rich sour red fruity flavour, more sweet fruit on the body followed by a sour, warming, slight woody finish.
3.7 Bottle @ CPK. Deep brown with a tiny white head that quickly recedes. The nose is cherry jam and fermenting fruits, cola, and berries, some brown sugar. THe taste is balsamic vinegar and fruits. Very jammy and funky. Charcol and brown sigar. Medium body, fizzy. Overall, pretty nice.
2.0 Bottle from Total Wine Henderson. Pours a clear mahogany color with a thin, whispy eggshell head. Aroma of raisin, grape. Taste is sour, but nasty. Yuck
3.5 Pours dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is sour malts and vinegar. Flavor is sour malts with some yeast and vinegar. Quite decent.
3.2 Bottle. Deep amber, almost brown color with almost no head. Aromas of cherries, wood, funk, with a lighter vinegar. Tastes of wood, very light vinegar, fruity, and earth.
2.7 light sour aroma,red/golden, light brown foam, light sweetness, lightly sour, light body, fizzy, dry sour finish.
1.9 Infected? Dark brown coloured. Has an off-white head. Aroma is clearly solvent, styrene, acetone. Flavor is mainly acidic, light sweetness too. Syrupy, acdic texture.
2.6 Pours a murky, rusty amber color with a wisp of a head and little lacing. A film does sit on top for a while. Aroma light with vinegar, stone fruit, cherry pie, and damp rotting wood. Tastes much of the same but in a less "bad" way than the smell. Body and palate was pretty good, smooth silky and nicely LOW carbonated. Overall, not a great example of the style as there was not enough funk in some areas, too sweet in others and a bit of a mess in yet some more. I will say this though, it may be a decent introductory to someone who has never tried the style as it is mild with many of the different flavors that are usually found in the style.
1.8 Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy strange aroma. Organic solents notes. Light bitter flavor. not sour. Loads of toluen and other organic solvents. Clearly yeast falt. undrinkabel. Oily palate.
4.2 (bottle - 500 ml) Red pour with a fluffy head. Big sour and funky aroma. Lots of fruits mixed in as well. Lots of sour notes at the start of the flavor. The sour is quite potent as well with very mild fruit notes that make it taste even more sour.
3.4 50cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian - Thanks! Deep amber to brown in colour and a light brown head. Lightly sour aroma with dark fruits, brett and citrus. Sour and bitter with fruits and yeast, slightly funky. Notes of balsamico. Medium body and quite nice! (2012-05-26)
3.3 Bottle thanks to bhensonb. Poured ruby with an off white head. Aroma and flavor were grape, raisin, slight chocolate, fingernail polish, and a nice pleasant sourness. Body was medium with soft carbonation.
3.8 On bottle, bought at ølbutikken. Dark brown , some foam. Medium body & high complexity. Sour taste & very good intensity. Very enjoyable
2.9 0.5 l bottle. Dark hazy reddish brown. Sour aroma with acetic acid, bitter chocolate and dark cherry. Sweet and sour flavor with acetic acid, pickled beetroot and bitter chocolate. Too acetic for my taste but goes better with stinky cheese.
2.8 Bottle. Pours a murky brown with smallish cream coloured head. Odd aroma of sweet fruit and feint sourness. Flavours are sweet with some sourness once again. Thin mouthfeel. Doesnt really work unfortunately.
3.8 Botella de 500ml. Copa Flauta. Saboreada en dic´11. Color cobrizo amarronado y brillante. Apariencia ligeramente nublada. Sabores bien equilibrados. Fácil asimilación. Buena representante del Estilo. 500ml bottle. Flute glass. Enjoyed on dec´11. Bright brown copper. Slightly cloudy appearence. Beige quickly dissipated crown leaves a lasting collar. Fruity aroma with hints of green wood & white grape zest. Smooth acid upfront. Mildy toasted malt flavors with hues of cherries & red fruits. Light body, medium carbonation. Fruity finish & cask-wood notes. Well balanced flavors. Easy drinkability. Nice spot of the Style.
3.2 21/11 0.568 l bottle, great thanks ogivlado for sharing! It poured slightly hazy brown body with medium sized head. Vinous and a bit caramelly aroma. Flavor still kept vinous part for sure, but tends t balance it with roasted malt like coffee and semi-sweet roasted sugar. Notes of wood. Medium bodied, with quite long, acidic and pleasantly creamy finish. A nice ale for sure, but it didn’t impress me so much from some reason.
3.7 500ml bottle. Sweet, berries anda caramel aromas. Pours dark brow, with some ruvy andamber notes. Average white head, non long-lasting, some lacework. Medium bodied and carbonated. Tastes sweet, fruity, some sourness but not so agressive. Very smooth and balanced. Nice sour ale.
3.4 16.9 oz bottle purchased at West Lakeview Liquors (Chicago, IL). A new sour rate. Pours a rich deep brown pour, dark as ruby red and red wine colors hit the edges, show some glow. A loose tannish bubbly ring stays around small, laces minimally. Aromas are sour cherries, fruit punch, and red wine tannins. Red wine vinegar and oak enter the fold fairly liberally, lactic acid, biscuits, and gentle toast. Pungent almost a touch harsh on the nose, red fruit, sour berry and copious red wine elements. Initial is lighter bodied, light on carbonation preaching some heavy handed red wine elements, deep red and dark fruit elements, soil, and oak. Touches of red grape, oak adnd decent sourness. Red wine, touches of tannins dry it out, show a touch of heat into the backend. Red grapes, gentle cherries, plum. Dryness, earthy soil, more gentle barrel presence. Gentle red wine vinegar, biscuits, and some growing lactic presence. Decent sourness, big red wine element. A touch flabby, could use some carbonation to give it some life. Lacks complexity, but has some solid flavor and some good stuff going for it. Still, more of a one trick pony. Ok. A bit thin and watery. Red wine driven.
2.9 Bottle at Fermentoren. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma and flavour of malt and sour fruity notes.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours a clear dark brown with a diminishing off-white head. Sweet with a mellow sourness. Aromas of fruits and berries with hints of cask wood. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Sweet finish.
3.4 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is fruit, malt, sourness. Flavour is sourness, cherry stome, malt. Medium body. Nice/OK beer.
1.9 50cl bottle: Pours a clear mostly still dark bronze with some stray off-white bubbles. Has a tart vinegar nose with some earthy biscuity caramel malt and some clove. Body has mild sweetness and tart fruity vinegar with too much vegetal tartness and some acetone.
