Fantôme Brise-BonBons!

Fantôme Brise-BonBons!

"With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we’re all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes..." - Shelton Brothers

4.0 Bottle on brewery in late august. Pale, high carbo, white head. Grassy and spicy aroma. Very dry, hoppy, hay, delicate crisp bitter finish. Awesome beer!
3.3 Hazy yellow with little white head. Aroma is citrus, yuzu, hustensaft, slight leather, coriander, other spices. Taste is very bitter, but still drinkable, hoppy leaves, some bonbon juice. Not bad.
3.2 Bottle at Moritz's. Nose is orange, citrus, dull fizzy tablet. Palate is dull orange, citrus, fizzy tablet. Bitter finish. Ok.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy yellow color with white head. Aroma is fresh yeasts, a touch moldy, funky, apples. Taste is earthy, funky, apples again, very bitter finish, nearly medicinal. High but soft carbonation. Fun!
3.6 Bottle shared with my brother. Hazy golden, looks like and NEIPA, big white head. Lime, lemon balm, chewed out bubblegum, Amaretto, massive bitter herbs, rubber, medicinal, soft wheat and malts. Under medium sweet, light tart and strong herbal and medicinal bitter. Medium bodied. Very nice aroma up front but the taste is a bit too chemical and bitter. Still quite interesting.
3.8 Trübes Goldgelb mit reichlich Schaum. Malzig, leicht fruchtig, Zitronenschale, muffig, erdig, leicht säuerlich, pfeffrig, dezent bitter, spritzig.
3.4 750mL bottle. Pours a hazy orange-gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is yeast, bread, pepper, and some citrus. Taste is yeast, funk, pepper, light orange, bread, light grain, and some peach. Very lightly tart. Finishes bitter and a little earthy, although the yeast sediment subdues both substantially and increases the tartness in the finish, changing the finish to something reminiscent of pulpy grapefruit juice nearing its expiration date. Dry. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Crisp-ish mouthfeel that becomes lightly creamy with the inclusion of the sediment. Once again, a Fantôme beer changes drastically by mixing in the sediment.
3.0 From Cervezasespeciales. In Teku glass. Playing Pilgrim Academy, the watching Black Mirror 1x01. Geyser. More funky, less balanced than their base saison, making it less special and more like many other saisons.
3.4 Drinked in bottle. On the nose alcoholic notes, apricot, some dry peach and some bread notes. In mouth medium light bodied, light on the tongue , quite drinkable but after few second a pleasant alcohol warmness . Not the best fantome
4.0 Bevuta in bottiglia. Colore ambrato molto limpida. Al naso note speziate molto fini. In bocca molto piacevole, secca e persistente.
3.7 Aroma: 7 Medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, Saison yeast, grain hops and citrus. Appearance:5 Opaque golden/amber beer with a slight/medium off-white head. Taste/Palate: 7/3 Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts, caramel, orange and Saison yeast; ends slightly bitter and medium dry with grain, hops and citrus. Overall: 15 This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. So this is a Saison with a lot of bitter hopping as they say. It is definitely nice, but I would have preferred a lot more dry-hopping to pair it with. Great, but very dry, Saison that works just fine. Perfect appearance and a good aroma, but the palate is simply too dry.
3.7 Rami Rami is drinking a Brise-BonBons by Brasserie Fantôme at Muzeum Azji i Pacyfiku Aromat saison z nalecialosciami lambika, smak saison ze spora pieprzowoscia, kwaskowaty i slodkawy z wytrawnym finiszem. Jasne owocki tez.
3.7 Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is grainy malt, hay, spicy peppery yeast, esters, straw, ripe-ish fruits, orange, funky and herbal notes, notes of stone fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Quite the bitter Saison indeed, robust grains, wild and reckless.
4.6 Many thanks for this beer to Eric De Geyter who bring to me from Belgium. Big Thanks for that. Piana srednia, kolor miedziany, pod koniec piaszczysto blotnisty. za sprawa osadku ktorego bylo wiele. Zapach egzotycznych owocow, cytrusy i melisa. Smak physalis zdecydowanie ten owoc dominuje. Mocno goryczkowe i kwiatowe piwo, sporo tez przypraw i wszelakich zio. Tymianek i kardamon tak mi sie kojazylo. Doskonale wytrawne, poteznie goryczkowe i zywiczne piwo. Cudowne naprawde boskie. i na koniec ta cierpkosc malenkiej physalis. Podrasowane na maxa jest to piwo z zabawna w dodatku etykieta.
3.4 750ml bottle @HBF 2017 (thanks mjs). Hazy yellow color. Small size, white head, stays. Citrus, clove, earthy, farmhouse, sour and spicy notes in aroma. Citrus, floral, fruity, hay, herbal, sweet, yeasty and earthy in taste. Very light body. Covers alcohol superbly. Excellent brew.
3.7 (Bottle, 0.75 l, at HBF2017) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, tartness and sourness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, sourness, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, sweet and bitter. A blend of saison, triple and sour brew. Nice.
2.8 Sample from the bottle at HBF 2017, 2017. Thanks mjs! Colour is very cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, sourness, some tartness, citric elements and malts. Very weird like usually fantomes are.
3.4 Bottle. First of all - the beer was lightstrucked on medium to light level. Besides that really beautiful head. In taste nice phenols, sweetish fruits with bitterness slightly higher than normally found in Belgian saisons. Nice.
Corpo medio, ben carbonata.
4.2 Beeroda.hu x Cake&Beer Tasting Sessions @ Budapest, Hungary. // Pours a hazy amber gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Sweet citrus peels and musk, bright and vibrant, lemon and herbs. Medium bodied, spicy right away, yeast and spice.
3.8 Bottle (from etre gourmet). Pours golden with huge whiteish head. The head stays. Aroma is sour, funky brett, fruity, some peaches, slight sweat. Flavor is sour and sweet, fruits, peaches, spices, citrus, some herbal notes. Finish has some nice dry bitterness. Well balanced and covers alcohol well. Overall: very nice.
2.7 Cloudy golden-lemonade yellow with a big white head. Aroma of malt, honey, spices, floral notes and yeast. Taste is slightly sweet and fruity with cotton candy, cinnamon, herbal notes, yeast and some red berries with strong bitterness.
3.8 Bottle. Heavy malt aroma of grain for the malt, moderate to heavy herbs, grass and faint citrus for the hops, light soap, musty and funky for the yeast, with raw green vegetable, paper and pepper in the background. Head is large, frothy turning rocky, white with thick and crusty, but slippery lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then the long finish is moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. A nice crisp Belgian Saison that increases in complexity as you pour to the bottom of the bottle.
3.3 Bottle shared at the Aug. 2016 Monticello Dairy Bottle Share, 8/1/16. Murky orange, large creamy off-white head. Aroma of mustard, funk, bandaid, pepper, caramel. The taste is toffee, caramel, paper, pepper and a mild vegetal note. Medium bodied, low carbonation.
3.9 Pours hazy orange golden with a small white head; aroma is banana with clove, somehow aged, quite fruity but also a lot of herbal and grassy notes as the beer warms in the glass; taste is fruity, ripe banana, grapefruit, slightly spicy, alcoholic, then the hops take over, herbal, grassy, medium to very bitter finish with spiciness; carbonation is medium, mouthfeel is creamy
2.7 Bottle 9,4 oz. at Slacker. Pours hazy orange with medium off-white head. Aroma of malts, orange peel, peach, herbs. Taste is grass, spices, glue or rubber. Definitely not my taste.
2.9 Bottle with Bob. Hazy golden with a medium sized white good lacing head. Dry grass, hay, honey in the nose. Fairly rustique and not a wacky spice rollercoaster like some Fantome. Earth, wood, twigs, honey, dry grass, herbal. Fine soft carbonation and filing mouthfeel. Full body, carries the alcohol well. Bitter finish. Rough. Smells like homebrew.
3.3 Pana nieduża, szybko opada do chmurki. Barwa złoto pomarańczowa, lekko mętna. Aromat estrowo fenolowo funky - jest trochę brzoskwiń, suszonych moreli, kandyzowanej skórki pomarańczy, przypraw i siana. W smaku półsłodkie, dokładnie odwzorowujące to, co w zapachu plus jakieś miodowe nuty w afterteasie. Goryczka niska do średniej, mniszkowo pikantna, piecząca, nieprzyjemna. Wysycenie średnie, drobne, musujące. Piwo znacznie gorsze od sztandarowego Saison z tego browaru. Przede wszystkim niefajna goryczka, mało dzikie i niezbalansowane. Czuć tu nieprzyjemny posmak mleczu.
2.3 Bottle. Thanks! A: White head with an orange body. N: Peppercorn, wheat, weed, extremely herbal. A bit of cracker underneath. Admittedly, I didn’t spend much time on this one, because, frankly, it wasn’t really worth it. T: Extremely bitter - and not in the enjoyable IPA sense. It’s more like that chalky bitterness which most people find unappetizing. M: Light body, alcohol presence, crisp carbonation. O: Guess I’m not a Brise-BonBons, because I very much disliked this. Not worth one’s time.
