2.6 [5/14/18] Draught at Taphouse in Copenhagen. Hazy amber. Spiciness, caramel, fruitiness, sweet, spicy, bitter finish. Not my thing.
3.5 Bottle. Chocolate caramel malt, light barnyard, and hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Mildly sweet chocolate caramel malt, and mildly bitter/astringent hay flavor. Barnyard/cedar flavor in the finish. Interesting - pretty dry.
3.3 At the Taphouse, 2018. Pours red with a small head, aroma of toffee, grain, flavor of dark bread, spices, medium bodied
3.9 Pours a dark brown with small tan head. Smell of burn caramel, metal and brunes, raisins. Taste is subtle, figs, sweet, some wood and gentle spices. Warming, smooth, full bodied, flavour sticks to the tongue and the wood and yeast build over time. Slight tartness to balance the sweetness. This is a well refined beer.
2.7 Bb 2019. Cola brown, no head. Soy sauce, cabbage, spices, pretty weird aroma. Sour at first, port wine, then lots of malt and Christmas cookies. Mild sour aftertaste, vinegar and overall quite dry mouthfeel. Well it's different for sure. A winey malty sour "saison". Cheers to Fantome for doing what they want but this one is stranger than it is special.
3.5 Trübes Rotbraun mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Malzig, erdig, Portwein, Pflaume, leichte Säure, Kräuter, etwas Pfeffer.
4.0 Spicy aroma, cacao, chocolate, coffee, plum. Taste is super dry cacao powder, coffee beans, saison yeast. Very interesting beer. Love that its something different.
3.7 Bottle, 750 ml, shared with Max, Simon, JFK10000. Some dried fruit, spices, sweet, chocolate notes, sourish, good balance. Medium bodied.
3.5 Keg at ushers... Dark copper.. Thin white lacing soft spiced wood malts nose... Light spiced tart malts
3.4 Keg @ Andrew Usher’s. Heavy white wine / white grape aromas. Sour, lingering, green apples, musk, somewhat syrupy.
3.1 Keg. Lots of red wine, malt, plums, and a hint of spices. Relatively boring for a Fantôme.
2.5 Keg at Andrew Usher’s. Hazy chestnut body with no head or lacing. Aroma of malt vinegar, nuts and red apple. Flavour of sour apple, bitter lemon and a hint of cinnamon. Thin body with a watery texture. Light fizz. Overly sour for my liking.
3.4 W aromacie sporo czerwonych owoców, lekko suszone owoce, przyprawy, muśnięcie cynamonu. Owocowość pomiędzy śliwką węgierką a żurawiną. W smaku bardzo podobnie, uniknięto skojarzeń z kompotem z suszu, ale sporo jest tu akcentów suszonych owoców i przypraw. Złożone, bardzo ciekawe, acz nie do końca satysfakcjonujące.
3.0 Spicy, malty, but pretty forgettable saison. I expected a lot more from this one.
3.4 Draft at Bridge tap house. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Leaves trace lacing. Pretty big horse blanket on the nose. Kind of subdued on the tongue. I was hoping this would be a bigger, more imposing beer.
4.2 Bottle from 2015 opened with friends. Lots of sediment at the bottom of the bottom, was careful not to pour it into glass. Pours a mostly clear darker yellow golden color with white head. Champagne yeast, spices, sweetness, and some earthiness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a champagne-like note.
3.8 0.75l corked and capped bottle from Etrè. This is a blurry golden-yellow one, aabsolutely packed with tiny particles floating about in the glass, and it has a nice big dense and definitely lasting white top. It smells of saison yeast, soft lime/citric peal, sweet apricots, Belgium and something sweet fruity. Almost peachy in a way. Smells really nice! It has an average - almost creamy carbonation level, and the mouthfeel is somewhat oily. The taste is almost woody and autumn-like. Sweet fruity peaches, pineaple, soft grass and a present almost warming alcohol taste. Yes, really enjoyable! 27.12.2012
3.1 13/20 dense, murky, stewy, sour fruits, quite boozy, initially quite carbonated once the cork comes out but that settled down. Belgian farmhouse ale
3.3 Tasted from the tap on the 03/02/2017. Pale brown colour with a medium beige head with a good retention. Vinous Aroma with herbs, pepper and coriander. Taste is spicy with some fruits and herbs. Next one please!
2.8 75cl bottle at home. clear dark copper, light brown head with lacing caramelized malts, hint of cellar, dry plum sweet caramelized malts, hint of sourness, hint of chocolate and dates in aftertaste not sure if the beer is like this or if there is something wrong with this bottle
3.5 75cl @ 32GreatPower, Seville, Spain. Orange colour witih a frothy white head. Aroma is fruity, berries, slightly acid. Taste is berries, sour, bitter, slightly sweet. Medium body, medium carbonation. Extremely dry.
3.3 750ml bottle (thanks martjoobolut). Straight from the bottle. Berries, fruity, sourish and some yeast in aroma. Lots of fruits and berries in taste. Slightly sourish mouthfeel. Covers alcohol very well. Quite drinkable brew.
3.1 750ml bottle - street tick thanks to Martjoobolut! Very winey aroma. White pepper hint in the taste. Not saying 8%. Wateryish palate, and carbonation a little low, but that’s better than being a gusher I guess, . A simple and curious saison, and nothing like the one I had way way back. Doesn’t grab me, but there’s nothing wrong with it. Palate just makes it feel a bit dead.
3.8 Robe brune, mousse peu abondante. Nez assez marqué par le malt torréfié, les fruits secs, les céréales sur un fond houblonné. Bouche à l’attaque acidulée et torréfiée, fine bulle raffraîchissante et longue finale équilibrée. Une belle saison d’hiver.
4.3 Cloudy bright orange with lots of floaters at the bottom of the glass. Fluffy white head that hung around after multiple sips. Aroma is fruity and spicey and sweet candy, maybe pears? The taste is a perfect marriage of that barnyard funky Saison taste with the sweetness of a triple, maybe even some earthy minty. Smooth body, richly warming, complex. Excellent beer
3.6 Bottle (from etre gourmet). Looks like a bottle. Aroma is spices, sourness, yeast, Flavor is spices, yeast, fruits. Finish is also spices. Overall: good.
3.8 Bottle. Murky copper orange with no head. Aroma is of red wine, ginger, cinnamon, vinegar, red fruits, plums. Taste is of orange, vinegar, plums, dark fruits, red wine, warm spices. Oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation.
3.8 Poured from a 750 ml bottle, likely a 2011 vintage. Aroma is somewhat fruity with some stone fruit and green grapes. Light citrus and acidity. Hints of grain and wheat. A bit of a light oak and woody note. Faint clove phenolic notes and faint floral notes. Pours a fairly clear, yellow gold color with a large, moderately thick, frothy, white head that recedes fairly quickly but is replenished for a bit before it fades to the edges and disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with some light lemon-lime zest. Light acidity. Some light grain, cracker and wheat notes. Light stone fruit and floral notes. Hints of phenolic spice and some herbal notes. Some light watery, mineral notes. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium to medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright Saison, but not my favorite from Fantome. Nice fruit and citrus notes, but its a bit watery and bland (shocking for a ’tome).
3.9 F: pale brown, big, good retention. C: dark coppery to dark brown, hazy. A: herbal, spicy, peppery, brett, hint of vinous. T: malt, fruity, spicy, orange peels, caramel, green banana, very good and interestingly balanced, medium to full body, medium to high carbonation, worth to try, sample from vat @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2016.
3.0 Prima bier, maar voor een winterbier heeft deze wat mij betreft te weinig ’body’. Niet echt een uitgesproken smaak.
