3.7 Bottle. Yellow pour with white head. Woody, citrus, floral, spice aromas. Flavors are weird, spice, yeast and woody, minor tart tones.
3.0 How : bottle Appearance : dark golden, medium white head . Aroma : caramel, fruits and tart berries. Palate : medium body, average carbonation.
3.6 Bottle from Deconinck, Vichte - BE. Color: brown beer with small carbonation and medium ivory white foam. Smell: caramel and malt domination. Sour and grassy notes. Taste: nice caramel and sweet taste of malt. It’s like the must! Finish as sour but also sweet. Nice balance. Quiet strange. Aftertaste: sweet malt and caramel with dry sour notes.
3.9 On bottle from Vinmonopolet Sandefjord. Deep golden slightly hazy color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; fruity, light citrus and good yeast ( farmhouse) influence. Medium body & complexity. Some bitterness- balances very well. Very enjoyable
4.0 Bottle. Pours dark golden, with a big creamy head. Aroma is wooden yeast and pale malts with bread and honey, as well as some notes of perfume. Medium to light body, with average carbonation. Flavour is tart, wooden yeast, as well as some funky floral notes. Dry, wooden finish.
3.6 In bottiglia da 75 cl. Aroma di fiori, erbaceo, speziato, pepe. Al palato corpo medio, alcool ben nascosto. dapprima malto, miele millefiori, poi floreale, speziato, pepe e finale erbaceo intenso e persistente.
3.9 Murky amber with ok head. The nose is of caramel malts, hay, and a buzzy breadiness. Lovely complexity throughout. Medium-bodied, again with caramel malting, hay, grass, and a buzzy breadiness on the palate. Like a nice artisan mixed grain crusty bread and a touch of lighter grains and grass in liquid form. Lively and enjoyable, and a bit different, in each and every sip.
4.0 Bottle shared with daje & edvard at The "Esp0r #2000 Weekend in The Woods" 2014 Red copper, quite hazy, thick tanned head. Smell of fruity yeast esters, hints of funk, spices, clove and light malts. Light to moderate sweet, quite heavy malt base for a saison nice yeast flavors, fruity, some cherries and hints of alcohol, spices and hay. Grassy hops, moderate bitter with fruit peel tail. Very nice
3.3 Amber coloured, it’s like a caramelly funky dubbel, weird, slightly sweet and too much crystal malt, doughy, leather and earthy hop notes, with some fantome yeast quality to it, it’s weird, but not that good, and I’m not liking the overdone crystal malts.
3.5 750 ml. bottle sampled. Procured by Kraddel. Joint purchase. Dark amber, huge lightly yellow? hued head. Nose is light mineral funk, lactic but above everything lots of boring malt sweetness. One dimensional dull malt sweetness dominates everything, crystal malts, thick spices, light mineral upfront,… Thick malt body. Okay but overall just very boring. My love for Fantôme is long gone it seems. Unless if I am drinking at the brewery. @ #30 Fantôme.
3.6 Pours clear , light amber. Smell is bread, funky. Taste is bit bitter, some funk, but more in balance than other fantomes. sharp, maybe even a bit dry taste, some hay, and typical fantome tastes, but this time in a good way. OK
4.1 Huge white head, deep amber colour. Subtle bitter finish and lingering taste.
3.9 huge frothy fizzy offwhite head. excellent lacing. mostly diminishing. hazy thick dark orangeish-amber body. aroma: light hoppy, flowers, apple, cask wood, alcohol. if: moderate sweet. ff: moderate sweet light bitter; long duration. palate: medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, moderate alcoholic finishy. 160 s
3.2 (bottle 31/12-2014) medium white head, unclear amber color, slightly bret taste, soft co2, okay beer.
3.7 Butelka 75cl. Poprawne piwo bursztynowe o typowym belgijskim charakterze. Łatwo pijalne jak na procenty. Warte polecenia. OCENA : smak : 7/10 pijalność : 6/10 styl : +1
4.0 DWF; Bottle 0,75 L. Drunk at Cardinal. Pours huge hazy golden with lasting, creamy, lacing off-white head. Nose is malt, intense light fruit, apples and peares, yeast and herbal, sweet orange, funky and spice. Taste is moderate sweet and light, citrus, bitter with a warming lasting finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is avarage.
3.8 That night at Cardinal.
4.0 Bottle shared with esp0r & edvard at The "Esp0r #2000 Weekend in The Woods" 2014. Hazy orange body with a white head. Funky aroma with flowers, lemon, orange, herbs and oak. Taste of tropical fruit, funk, spices, barbeque, tart berries. Clean dry finish with a robust tart and fruity aftertaste. Most impressive!
3.4 Bottle from the beer tempel Brussel, shared with Tom at hotel tasting. Murky hazy copper pour thin white head. Aroma is really herbal, rosemary, really grainy, light rustic character. Taste is yeasty, herbal, bitterness, rather husky grainy taste. Palate is med bodied, too low carbonation. Decent, but I’ve had a lot better from fantôme.
3.4 Bottle (750 ml). Muddy amber with a small sparse white head and little lacing. Aroma is super floral with rosemary, light spiciness, caramel, yeast and grapefruits notes. Taste is also quite floral and really yeasty with rosemary, caramel, light citrus and light bitterness. Medium body. Almost flast. Spicy, herbal & floral finish. Surprisingly drinkable considering it’s quite spicy, almost flat and (supposedly) relatively high abv. Very Fantôme-esque. Not bad...
4.1 Amber with white head. Aroma is belgian yeast, earth, caramel, some brett and some grapefruit. A very round and complex aroma. Round and full palate. Aftertaste is round, floral, earth, Belgian yeast, spice, coriander, citrus and pepper. Overall: Speedway stout is for me the ultimate sip-and-chill beer. This one comes very close. A super complex saison.
3.8 Sample at SBWF ’14. Bottle. Thanks Skrubbe! Light hazy light amber liquid with medium white head. Aroma of white pepper, grain, lemon peel, bread and dried fruit. Taste is dry and light sour with notes of lemon, white pepper and grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really nice stuff.
3.2 Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours light amber. Aroma of phenoles, apple, caramel. Taste of fruity sweets; typical Belgian style taste, but maybe a bit too much of phenoles.
3.2 Cloudy orange. Off-white head. Coriander, bananas and spices in aroma. Similar taste, with moderate bitterness.
3.5 Bottle at Appellation. Pours hazy amber, nose is sweet toffee, yeasty, taste is sticky toffee, sweet, quite fruity.
3.6 Bottle at beer dudes tasting at Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - cloudy orange with a big head. Nose - slightly funky then candied fruit and the expected white pepper. Taste - pineapple with a light spicy note. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good saison.
3.6 Bottle, tasting at Appellation Wines. Hazy amber body with a thin off-white head light lacing. Aroma of lemon and white pepper. Flavour of pineapple, yeast and spices. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Decent, but not outstanding.
3.5 Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Pours hazy gold, thin white head. Spice, pepper, yeast, light banana on the aroma. Taste is spicy, light sour. Dry finish. Good, but not great.
