2.5 Bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, NY. Pours almost black with a bubbly cappuccino head that vanished in the time it took me to type the first sentence. Nose is roasted malts with heavy fruity notes: fig, grape, maybe some tart berry. Taste is a touch sour and almost reminds me of sweet American yogurt drinks or mass-produced kefir. Interesting, but I can’t say I’m a big fan.
2.8 Bottle from Beers of the World. Notes of caramel, but pretty watery in my opinion.
2.3 F: big, brown, not long lasting. C: dark, opaque. A: roasted malt, hint of coffee, with some dark fruits, caramel. T: malt, caramel, salt, light coffee, hint of lacto tones, light to medium body, medium carbonation, too watery for me, 250ml bottle from Chain foodstore in the Point Shopping Mall in Sliema.
3.4 Coffe-like appearance of dark brown colour and not too much creamy beige head; aroma of toffee filled chocolate, cocoa some herbal and floral notes; taste is the same with some dried plum and cherry, as well as syrupy notes; among the better beers brewed by Farsons
2.0 Almost black beer with brownish head. Head disappears quickly, low carbonation. Aroma of dark malts and a bit charcoal but especially dark fruits. Very sweet with a dominant fruity flavour overpowering the dark malts. Also sour. Quite thin, not very mouth filling. This is my first milk stout, so it´s difficult to compare, but the beer is pretty much as described in the style guide, only way fruitier than expected.
2.6 Black color. Thin and weak, beige head. Aroma of roasted caramel and lactose. Very sweet taste with notes of roasted caramel and some coffee. Too sweet.
3.0 Te ez ölyan tejes hogy legközelebb búgatni fogok, vagy mit csinál a tehén??
3.0 Bottle; pours nearly black with a thin tan head; sweet aroma of dark fruits, malt, caramel, and hints of milk sugars; taste is sweet but a bit thin with caramel, dark fruits, malt, and milk sugar; finish is dry and lightly sweet; okay
1.7 Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black, with an inconsistent beige head. Subdued aroma of dark malts, some dark fruits, and vinous notes. Taste is more malty, with less dark fruits than aroma would indicate, faint chocolate, and lactose. Some oxidation present; might be a bit stale. Not good.
2.1 Aroma: strong boozy notes, such as sherry(?) plus a lot of malt; Appearance: pitch black with thin, tan head that dissipates quickly; Taste: very flat (definitely could be the age of the bottle) with strong, sweet flavor; Palate; long, sickeningly sweet finish. Would not buy again.
3.1 Backlog 26/8/15 bottle 25cl. @supermarket Valletta, Malta. Opaque black color, small frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; aroma malty, chocolate, caramel; taste is light heavy sweet, malty, milk chocolate (chocomel); light body, watery texture, soft carbonation; aftertaste as in taste, fruity notes.
3.0 Faint chocolate milk aroma from the bottle. Nice dark stout with dissipating tan head. Pretty light on flavor, but body is milky. Mildly sweet with a similar rooty spiciness similar to Guinness Extra Stout. Not altogether bad, but not a great stout.
3.3 0.25l bottle, thanks to Cristobal37. Black body, thin tan head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa and floral hops. Taste of caramel, toast, sour cherry and cocoa. The finish is not so long lasting, the body is weak, and it’s not that sweet for a milk stout, but still a nice one.
3.0 Bottle split a few ways. Wek black pour with a tan head. Notes of light roast, chocolate , milk chocolate, caramel and some ash.
2.3 Bottle @ holiday resort in Malta. Almost black with a lasting brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, caramel and light buttery. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 151015
4.2 The foam is nougat colored and creamy. The aroma is gentle malty with weak mocha tones. The taste is a little time to develop in the mouth, but the wait is worth it. Weak mocha flavor blends bold with roasted malt and the mouth feeling is creamy. The finish is very little hoppy, but is instead delicate mocha-like with a little touch of English licorice. 3.8 percent for a stout does not sound like much, and it is not, but its flavors are very rich anyway.
2.6 Pours a dark brown with some red undertone, topped with a medium sized beige colored head. Malty aroma, biscuity, caramel and chocolate, perhaps some dark fruity notes. Taste is sweet and a bit bready, with significant soury notes.
2.8 Bottle from indrekr, tnx. Dark red liquid with brown head. Aroma: sour milk, butterscotch. Taste: alcohol free beer, light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, bread. Palate: light body, watery feel, soft carbonation, long bready finish,
2.2 TÕS5.Bottle. Pours ruby brown with small tan head, doesnt stay. Aroma is sweet, malty, sour milk, butterscotch, slight roast. Taste is bullshit, watery, sweetish, slight roast, bread. Rather bad. Thin body.
2.4 Aroma: condensed milk, sour milk, toast, bread. Appearance: brown, clear, brown foam, minimal head. Taste: medium sourness, flat taste. Palate: light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, aftertaste is almost missing.
3.2 Butelka na Malcie 2005r? Kolor czarny intensywny , piana średnia jasnobrązowa. Aromat palonych słodów i czekolady, smak taki sam. Bardzo łagodne, kremowe piwo. Dobre.
3.0 Bottle: Thanks RvdV: Served in a snifter: Black beer with a light brown head. Aromas of milk chocolate, caramel, light liquorice, prunes, plastic and bread/rye. Flavours of prunes, dried leaves, malt, caramel, light bitter, lighter sweet, herbs, watery roast... Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, prunes, raisin, dried leaves and caramalts. Low carbo, watery mouthfeel, low to medium bodied.
2.9 Bottle brought back from Malta by Cecile. Pours a deep dark brown with a good sized tan colour head, dimishing to little more than a ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma of sweet malt, prune and raisins. Heavily sweet, with a light sourness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.
2.8 33cl Bottle traded with JMGreenUK. Thin tan head. Clear deep burgundy pour. Bittersweet aftertaste. A bit thin.
Aromat: z butelki czuć nawet suszoną śliwkę i słody palone. Piana beżowa, o średniej wielkości bąbelkach, szybko znikająca. Barwa: ciemna, bardzo głęboki rubin. Smak: laktoza niewyczuwalna. Trochę nut karmelowych. Odczucie: tekstura niska, nasycenie niskie.
2.8 Butelka 0.25L Wygląd: Ciemnobrunatne, rubinowe, klarowne. Piany prawie nie ma wcale. Aromat: Mało intensywny, lekko czerwone wino, porto, śliwka suszona, karmel, miodowy, słodowy, lekko metaliczne nuty, Smak: Rozwodniona kawa zbożowa i pustka po za tym. Odczucie: Wodniste, faktura wodnisto/metaliczna, wysycenie niskie. Całość: Kiepskie w smaku, delikatny ale dość ciekawy aromat.
2.7 12 oz. bottle picked up locally and consumed at home. Pours dark brown to black with a medium sized beige head that disappears quickly. The aroma had roasted malt, some sweetness, cream, a splash of cocoa and coffee, with some metallic character. The flavor is much of the same, light roast, light cocoa, light coffee, some creamy sweetness with metallic character throughout. Thin and watery. Pass.
2.7 Bottle from a Sliema supermarket. Poured a clear dark brown with a broken light tan head. The aroma is burnt roasted malt, liqourice. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a light watery malt liqourice bitter, very light caramel palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Not what I expected at all. A "sweet milk stout"? It was way too light, way too bitter and lacked flavour. The lingering bitter aftertaste was not all that pleasant either.
2.9 Bottle from the Supermarket in Sliema, Malta. It pours near black with a decent tan head. The nose is roasty, milk chocolate, coffee and chewy caramel. The taste is smooth, roasted malt, coffee grounds, toast, very light lactose, mild bitterness and a touch of acidity with a dry finish. Light+ body and moderate carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth to it, but the balance works pretty well.
3.4 Well-known old-fashioned milk stout with milk sugar added. Yellow beige, dense foam, colour near black. Gentle aroma of milk powder, chocolate, cream, coffee beans, roasted grains, raisins, caramel. Sweetish taste with very creamy, not to say ’milky’ mouthfeel, caramel smoothness, soft finish with only very light roasted bitterness, as is custom for a sweet stout. I know not everyone likes this waning style, but this is a good example of it.
