2.1Dark and some chocolate with raw nuts. Not bad, difficult to find in my area, but if you cannot find it you are not missing out on much.
2.9Good brown lager. Nice color. Nutty. Sweet. Light syrup not a bad thing. Hazelnut flavor. No roastedness. Fizzy.
1.7Bottle to glass. Clear copper-orange with moderate, retained head. Grainy and slightly metallic nose. Faint orange and a little sea weed. Taste starts as faint caramel but quickly falls apart in the second half. There is a dishwater aspect with General huskiness as though the mash was dialed way too high for style. Slight ash.
2.9Pours dark copper with and off white head. Aroma hints at sweetness. Beer is pretty light with malt undertones.
2.712 oz. bottle. Pours dark amber, tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, metallic. Toasty and light taste.
3.1On tap near black color with a tan head. Aroma is dark malt and some dark fruit. Taste follows nose.
3.9Great for a lager. Aroma is slightly sweet with a hint of raisin. Nice sweet toffee and roasted malts. Smooth and thick for the style, and has some interesting pepper and lemon to it. Grassy and a little hops. Well played.Great red orange color. Tap
3.2Poured from 12 oz bottle a burnt copper with a satisfying slowly fading off-white head. Aroma is malty with a hint of clove. Mouth feel is medium, carbonation is medium, and flavor is sweet carmel, toffee, and smoky malt. A little on the sweeter side, but I have a sweet tooth so no problem there. Carmel slowly fades away to a touch of bitter hops. Very enjoyable beverage!
2.2Pours amber with a thin white head. Caramel, toffee, toast and syrup aroma and flavors. Medium light body and average carbonation. Caramel and syrup finish.
2.5From a bottle in Aspen. Pours clear copper brown with a thick, frothy beige head. Tastes like burnt malt, nutty, musky grains. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like nutty malt, musky grains, toasted toffee.
3.9Pours a clear dark amber color with tan head. Chocolate aroma and flavor, smooth
4.0Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the Taco Mac in Douglasville, GA
Aroma- Has a pretty good aroma of malt and sweet spice.
Appearance- This is a dark brown beer with a small off-white head.
Taste-the main flavor is malt with some sweet caramel flavoring tossed in.
Palate- this is a light bodied and lightly carbonated beer
Overall- I believe I have had this years ago but I remember it tasting different. I then read other comments saying it was now brewed under contract. That makes sense on why it tastes different. I thought it tasted better in the past, but not a bad beer.
2.5ラガー

3.6Pours a clear, dark amber with reddish highlights and a light tan head of good size that slowly fades. Nose of sweet malt and a little toast. Taste is sweet caramel malt, a hint of black coffee and some light, grassy hops. Not overly complex, more like a lager than a schwarzbier. Not bad. Pleasant and easy to drink.
2.212oz bottle. No apparent package date.
Appearance: Deep amber, slightly hazy, and an off white foam cap.
Aroma: Getting some sulfur, followed by some bready, toasted malt
Taste: A salty, crystal malt flavor with some toastiness an herbal hop character. Just a hint of roastiness.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation
Finish: Lingering maltiness and some herbal hop character
Overall: If this is supposed to be a schwarzbier/black lager, it’s missing the mark. This is much closer to a Vienna or marzen, but with noticably more crystal malt character. Completely missing that restrained roastiness that is the definition of the style. Not the worst lager I’ve had, but far from the best.
2.4Pretty boring schwarzbier…more like a lager. Deep amber pour. Malt in the nose. More malt in the taste, along with raisin and some roast. Pretty sweet and grainy. Nothing special. Drank easy.
2.933 cl bottle. . Pours a clearer ruby with a beige head of foam that dissipates at a moderate rate. The aroma is grassy, lemony, and doughy. The taste is a little sweet. I wouldn’t necessarily consider the taste to be pleasant, but it isn’t awful either. Light to medium body. medium carbonation.
2.2Bottle - Brown near black color with a decent but fast disappearing beige head, small lacing - Aroma of roasted malt, dried raisin and plum - Flavor is Weird, plum, roasted malt - Light body, light/medium bitterness, fizzy carbonation weird madera finish - not my cup of tea, weird Madera aroma and flavor
3.112 oz. bottle
Pours to a redish orange tint leaving little white head. Aroma is it’s strongest suit. This Doesn’t linger on your palate, but the taste is malty and tangy.
2.9355ml twist off. Amber pour. Staleish aroma, some grain scent. Flavor has mild raisin and pickle, but otherwise a non-offensive and easy-going dark lager.
2.9Bottle. Deep amber color, small white head. Aroma of burnt brown sugar. Taste is similar.
3.6This is much better than the average lager. It has some hops, it deserves much more than its current score.
2.8"not your average average beer, though that’s what my score indicates. instead of being average throughout, there’s aspects i liked, and aspects that i didn’t. like-cool sweet malt aroma, creamy feel and flavor with a nice tasty finish of mostly roasted and sweet malt. didn’t like-alcohol being evident at 5%, little to no depth. the look was the only thing average here, but overall, an average brew."
2.4Coffee overtones, lingering alcohol flavor left on the tongue, carbonation is good, but the back end flavor is a little flat
2.1This schwarzbier comes off like a malt liquor, minus the alcohol. None of the roast grain, coffee type bitterness, just malt, malt, malt. Appearance is also a muddy brown, not black. Terrible representation of the style.
3.5Bottle from The Beer Cellar April 2014. Quite a dark beer with some good smokey aromas that carry over into the flavour.
3.8Transfer from BA review on 9-23-12-
Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep amber brown color with a two finger off white head. The head has a nice level of retention, but eventually fades to give a moderate level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a roasted malt. Mixed with this are notes of a caramel sweetness as well as some molasses and notes of a more earthy hop smell.
Taste – A sweet taste of a brown sugar and caramel taste greet the tongue. A moderate roasted malt taste complements the sweet tastes well, and creates a base for the beer throughout the taste. More in the middle a lighter earthy flavor comes to the tongue. While light, it creates a much more balanced flavor overall. In the end the sweetness intensifies a bit. While the sweetness is mainly brown sugar in nature some flavors of a lighter fruit also grow in. At the end, a sweeter but pleasant roasted and lightly earthy flavor are left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that is just below to average in intensity. The moderate body is good for both the sweet and roasty flavors with the carbonation level making it quite easy drinking. It is very nice for the style and flavors.
Overall – Good tasting and very easy drinking. This makes for one tasty session beer.
2.9Pours a light brown color, clear, topped with a decent off white head.
The aroma is slightly biscuity, roasted malts.
The taste is sweet, caramel notes, with little bitterness in the finish. Slightly unpleasant aftertaste, metallic, burnt. Would be very nice without that aftertaste.
2.2Poured from 12 oz bottle. Med brown transluscent color. Decent foamy offwhite, tumbleweed white head. Aroma is faint, some hint at molasis and honey but then tartness. Taste is slight burnt toast malt. Watery. Day one of Ben out of Oregon. 5.25 bd.
3.112oz Bottle at the Public House inside the Venetian, Las Vegas on 4th July 2014. Slight haze to my brew, no head but very ’fizzy’. I thought this strange and almost interesting, it seemed to have a sour initial taste that became caramel sweet in the finish. My first US brewed black lager (I think).
