3.4 330ml bottle bought at City Super in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. Looks: Translucent amber honey colour with a thin cloud of misty yeast particles; One finger head with soapy white foam which lasts for 1 minute; Very good sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with strong mangoes, peaches, citrus, candied fruits, floral, sugar, light spices, dry biscuits, lemon and grass. Very fruity! Taste: Close to medium sweet Ale malt, with citrus, tartness, floral, fair sugar, spices, pine, resins, dry biscuits, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass. Body: Medium body; Dry, slick and fairly oozy palate. Mouth Feel: Good Ale maltyness in a slightly wheat thinned background. Simple citrusy hops dominates. Flowery with fair sweetness. Spicy piney oozy with lemon to round. Decent! Hoppiness: Strong mangoes, peaches, citrus, candied fruits, floral, light spices, lemon and grass in nose. Citrus, floral, spices, pine, resins, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid to fair astringent bitter-sweet fair malty finish. After Taste: Dry. Citrusy oozy and fairly bitter to mouth. Comments: This one's tropical fruit aroma is pleasant, very mango-ish, but its taste is too citrus-simple and timid to be impressive. Decent to drink, a fine choice to beat the Summer heat but nothing beyond that.
3.0 No auroma, citrusy, honey taste? Slight bitter finishing.
3.4 The usual suspects of delightful citrus peel flavors and light earthy resins. I'm slightly underwhelmed until the lingering of it all comes together at the end. A well made beer, if a little light on, as suggested in the title. Not Ferals best but still above par. No wonder Coca-cola Amatil bought them out. The ferals in West Ostraylya make good beers.
3.7 One of my fav hometown breweries. This one comes at you with resin and passion aromas which are then followed up with slap-in-the-face resin flavour. This is balanced out by a flowing tropical juice vibe which hides the hefty alcohol. Could well get you into trouble with the ease of drinking. Nice one WA
3.1 Reddish to orange pour with a thin white head, very frothy. Aroma is very faint, almost nothing. Taste is full of grain, caramel and pale malts. Lace present. Hints of grass and pine. Good, but a little one note. Medium bodied.
3.6 Medium hoppy bitterness, quite full as for AIPA. Toasty and bready and full of fruits. But in fact a stronger hoppy profile would make this beer something more than just another quite good AIPA.
4.5 As the name suggests an ale With some Hops. The little bro to War but still packs a punch. Do yourself a flavour and grab a 4 pack.
3.1 Label has a nice, notably rough feel. Golden color, clear. Lasting, frothy white head. Nose reveals notes of malt and sweet tropical fruits. Aroma is similar - a mix of tropical fruits, some malt, light caramel and grain notes. Taste is medium sweet at first, turning into a light, pleasant bitterness towards the finish. Medium to full body, crisp texture, average carbonation. Well balanced IPA, however lacking characteristics that make it stand out.
3.7 330ml bottle sampled during Aussie trip 2017-18. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma is floral with citrus fruits & pine. Taste is moderate malty, light sweet, light bitter, with orange, marmalade, candied peel, pine. Medium bodied, average carb. Dry, piney, bitter finish
3.6 330 ml bottle. Appearance is a slightly cloudy pale golden shade, topped with generous but transient white froth. Aroma is fruity, grapefruit, pineapple and other citrus and tropical fruits, along with some florals and pine. Taste is floral and pine bitterness first, with light fruity sweetness, but mainly bitter in the finish. Carbonation is nicely done, giving it a crisp and clean mouthfeel.
3.6 Sweet, candied citrus fruits, orange, marmalade, orange peel, sweet grain malts, caramel, pine, light tropical fruits, mango. Clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Light bitter. More bitter citrus fruits, orange peel, marmalade, sweet tangerine, candied tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, pine, more sweet grain malts in the background, caramel, medium carbonation, medium bodied. Decent. Bottle from Purvis Cellars, Melbourne.
3.7 Bottle 330ml. Hazy amber colour. Thin ecru colour head. Good lacing. Aroma is malty, delicate sweet with a lot of hops with tropical fruits notes. First sip and I feel medium malty body, delicate sweet, smooth with toast character. But after few sips this malty sweetnes in good balanced by medium, citrus-herbal bitterness. Beer is quite light, refreshing, I can say average IPA but I expected more power of hops and the beer has rather malty than hoppy character.
3.6 330ml bottle. Pours orange brown. Pine, dank, grapefruit, caramel, orange. Good full body. Nice bitterness. Tasty.
4.0 Best tasting beer yet Black label on steroids .... 💪🏼
4.3 This pours a hazy gold, with a thin head. But oh that aroma!! Citrusy pine and pineapple & passionfruit bonanza! Lots of taste in the mouth, but not a great mouthfeel. Nice crisp finish to boot....
4.1 Nice smooth well balanced IPA. personally I would've loved if it had a little more bitter in the aftertaste
3.5 If IPAs are the cool kids, when a new one comes to your school named hop hog you assume it's going to be bitter as all hell, and, well, you're going to get bullied. But then 'the hog' turns out to be a nice guy; less jock, more Ferris Bueller. Damn, I feel conflicted.
4.1 the small hog logo is pretty cute but the biggest hoggy is very big and good
4.6 Full of flavour with a strong hoppy note and bitter finish. All round great beer
4.2 Great clarity for an American IPA with good head retention, strong aroma with an interesting mix of spruce and citrus. Reasonably high IBU score underlies the bitterness, but it still does not overpower the spruce and citrus flavours. I enjoy buying this in a growler from my neighbourhood specialty beer shop.
3.6 Murky orange Amber body white head and lacing. Pine and resin aroma. Taste is semi-bitter, resin, some malts. Nice beer.
4.1 Packs a Hoppy punch to the limit of palatable. Layered palate with caramel finish. Good effort on bringing IPAs to the Australian market.
4.6 The most balanced IPA I have ever tried. Very fruity, not too bitter. Nice aroma. The best.
3.2 Strong citrus aroma. Sweet and citrus hoppy flavored, quickly rounded off with a malty bitterness. Fairly strong metallic aftertaste.
3.5 Tap at the Royston Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a slightly hazy straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is malt, light grassy citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a crisp, fresh, light fruit, woody light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. This was one beer that I wanted to taste after having tasted the UK version brewed by Banks. This is a decent session beer and I’m pleased to say that the UK version is on a par with its Australian cousin!
3.3 Appearance: clear amber with good head Aroma: huge hop nose, dominant with passion fruit Mouthfeel: medium full and carbonation Taste: fruity, tropical, passion fruit. Decent bitterness Overall: good drinking IPA
4.1 On tap. Schooner. Pours a deep amber, with a white head. Aroma: moderate to strong citrus, pine and earthy aromas. Taste: a good balance of citrus and pine flavours hits the palate followed by a pleasant lingering bitterness. Very well balanced and full of flavour. The hops dominate the brew more than the malts, but there is still a pleasant biscuity malt flavour to the beer. Great with spicy food, barbecued meat or as a stand alone drink. Probably the best Australian IPA.
3.2 Draught @ Keg & Brew, Sydney, Australia. Pours hazy yellow with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, light caramel, sweet fruity hops, sweet citrus. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, malt, caramel, fruit, lightly old hops. Medium body, soft ot average carbonation, light bitter finish. 100317
4.1 Strong pine, citrus, stone fruit nose. Medium bitterness with strong lemon and pine flavour. Medium carbonation.
3.5 Hazy amber with a small white head. Some sticky lacing. Aroma is citrus and tropical fruits. Taste adds pine, caramel and a strong bitterness. Enjoyable IPA, very classic American style without any hypes.
