4.5 Opaque black beer with medium yeast and with a slight/medium brown head. Heavy aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Vanilla, caramel, chocolate, mocha and roasted malts. 9/5/9/4
4.0 44 cl can @ Peltolammi tasting. Pours black color with a small beige head. Aroma is chocolaty, cocoa, some strong roster malts, faint licorice. Flavor is roasted malty and bitter, dark chocolate, cocoa, some salty licorice too. Super heavy malt-forward brew, not the most drinkable overall. 4525
3.6 How: Bottle. Where: Systembolaget. Appearance: Black colour with a tan head. Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla. Body: Full body, low carbonation. Flavour: Chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, alcohol, chocolate.
4.1 Aroma: Sweet roasted malt and lactose. Flavour: Sweet roasted malt with chocolate and lactose. Aftertaste is malty sweet with chocolate. Colour: Black with a tan head. From: Can @ BestOfBeers webshop Aug. 2020.
3.7 Lekki gushing po otwarciu. Czarno-brązowe z pływającymi jasnymi farfoclami i niewielką pianą. W zapachu kakao nesquik, trochę wanilii i cynamonu. W smaku mocno kakaowe, słodycz niewysoka, cynamon delikatny, trochę umami i kawy w tle. Niska, tytoniowa goryczka, oleiste, nisko wysycone, lekko alkoholowe. Powiem szczerze, że liczyłem na intensywniejsze doznania.
3.9 Can 440ml (Kihoskh, BB 05/2021) Opaque colour, small brownish head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa and vanilla. Full-bodied. Flavour is roasted with cocoa and chocolate, some notes of cinnamon and vanilla. Flavoursome and balanced, not too sweet. Earlier Rating: 5/4/2018 Total Score: 3.1 Tap at TCBW. Opaque colour, small beige head. Vanilla, a bit toasted. Full-bodied. Very sweet, tonka beans. Alcohol. Meh.
4.0 Pours very dark brown with a tiny tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit notes, coconut, vanilla and a little cinamon. Sweet taste that ends up being slightly more dry. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and soft to flat carbonated. An excellent Impy. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.9 12 oz. can at the source. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, almost has a barrel character even though it isn't, some alcohol, cocoa powder, and just a hint of cinnamon, very good, an extra tenth for the setting.
4.1 I loved it. Strong on alcohol but covered by the chocolate unless you take two drinks quick succession. Chocolate, vanilla. Really great imo. A little barrel aging would’ve put this over the top. ! Maybe I’ll add a little of the nearest barrel aged to this next time . I drank it on tap and immediately bought a four-pack. Good for me.
4.0 Canned, 330 ml from Bierliefhebber, shared with Miro B and Max. Chocolate, lots of vanilla, coconut, smooth, soft texture. Medium+ sweetness. Medium to full bodied.
4.0 (from backlog)
4.0 Black appearance. Aroma is sweet, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is slightly bitter, cocoa, chocolate and sweet.
4.3 svart og tykk med beig skum, kaffe, vanilje, melkesjokolade, lett krydret...
4.4 Tasted this at Innis & Gunn Beer Kitchen, Glasgow on 9th September 2019. Keg, 1/3 pint sampled. Dull black in colour with a thin pale buff head. Superb malty aroma with sweet rum truffle evident on the long intense nose. Excellent lacing and thin oily mouthfeel. Dark malt complex gives a rich background base of Old Jamaica rum & raisin chocolate bar with creamy notes of milky vanilla. Couldn't detect any hint of hops in the aftertaste but who cares! Finish is extremely rich, smooth and complex with dark vermicelli chocolate, boozy rum soaked raisins, rum truffle, soft milky vanilla and more dark chocolate with a hint of spice. What a special Impy stout this is - just a pity the mouthfeel was a tad thin though but this made it more easy to drink! Alcohol evident but underlying within the chocolate. One to seek out.
4.0 Alluring vanilla ice cream aroma in a deep black pour. Similarly milky rich taste profile cocoa and malt hides its strength with ease. Which makes it dangerously delicious!
3.2 Tap (TCBW2018) (6:4:6:3:13=3.2) A bit kitchen sinky - sweet, cocoa powder, a bit of coconut, vanilla. Taste similar. Heavy palate, slick, alcohol not covered. Rerate: Tap (BrewDog, Tallinn) (6:4:6:3-:13=3.2-) Starts with a huge dark nitro head atop a blackish body. Aroma is kinda mild, mostly cinnamon and vanilla. It portends some sweetness too. Gets bunnier over time. Taste has much of the same. Not bad, but a bit boring perhaps. Palate is dead, sweet sugarwater with gentle carbonation. Too much cinnamon for Phils, but not bad.
4.0 Tap at Brewdog Outpost Manchester. Lost my notes due to rating wrong beer first. As far as I remember, it was massive chocolate aroma and flavour, not at all that sweet as some comments here suggest.
3.9 Black colored, thick, small brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate, spices, vanilla, cinnamon, lactose, caramel, on the sweeter side, medium- roasty bitterness, bittersweet finish, light alcohol with warmth. Full bodied and thick, soft carbonation, syrupy.
4.3 33cl Bottle @ BrewDog Online Store, Fraseburgh, United Kingdom. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, spices. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, licorice, cinnamon, slightly nutty and boozy. Full body, soft carbonation.
4.4 Back with beautiful dirty head. Chocolate and over great taste. Blew me away when I tried it at collabfest so to find it excited me.
3.8 330ml bottle. Sweet, syrupy and slightly roasty with loads of tonka, cinnamon, cocoa, vanilla and coffee notes. Okay.
2.8 On tap @Skaal Pours black with small head. Scent: Alcholic, chocolate, oak. Taste: Alcoholic, little sweetness. Long duration. Texture: Quite thin, medium high carbonation.
4.0 Bottle at home, bought at Brewdog Reading, I think. 16th May 19. Pours black and thick. Aroma is liquorice, dark chocolate. Taste is liquorice, chocolate, bitter, sweet, sticky, slight spice. Really very good.
3.8 Draft. A black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of vanilla, alcohol, dark chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to a sweet finish.
3.7 Ontap at beers 2019. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, vanilla. Bitter, slightly roasty, vanilla and coconut taste. Full body, smooth finish, fair fizz, sweeetish aftertaste.
4.3 Bottle 33cl at home. Pours dark with a light brown head. Aroma is cherry, chocolate, coffee, red wine and tiramisu with a bit of alcohol. Smooth, soft carbonation, oily. Taste is smooth, chocolate, cherry and coffee. I feel like I'm eating and chocolate mousse. Not too bitter, not too sugary. Balanced beer, easy drink, we don't feel the 12%.
4.1 Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. A black colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of liquorice, leather, cocoa, cinnamon, some alcohol, slight vanilla, caramel and subtle dark berries. Taste of liquorice, leather, cocoa, some cinnamon, slight vanilla, dark berries, rum soaked raisins, caramel and subtle spice. Full bodied and a chewy texture. A sweetish leathery fruit finish with a soft, warming, spicy bitterness in the finish. This is some complex stuff. Started leathery, became more fruity with some chocolate and cinnamon coming through, subtle Belgian influences and spicy booze. Lovely.
4.2 0,33l can at home bought from Bierliefhebber. BB 29.01.2020. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of cinnamon, cocoa, some vanilla, nutty, hazelnuts, some coconut, some berry notes, bit parfumy, lovely smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of berry notes, some vanilla, some cinnamon, nutty, hazelnuts, something like tonka beans, light lactose, bit parfumy. finishes light to medium sweet with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and nutty notes. very nice, but also a bit omnipollo style over the top. Overall definitly not your regular Imp Stout.
