FiftyFifty Imperial Eclipse Stout - High West Bourbon Barrel

Eclipse is our rich Imperial Stout aged to perfection in whiskey and spirit barrels. All Eclipse starts with the same base beer bringing hints of dark chocolate, espresso, and a smooth complexity, with each barrel treatment delivering its own unique character after a minimum of 180 days of aging. High West (HW) is aged in select bourbon barrels from Utah.

4.0 Przyjemny imperialny stout z ciekawie zaznaczonymi owocami i przyejmna beczka.

4.1 2014 Bottle from Scott McConnell. Thanks, man! Pours jet black with nice tan head. Aroma is bourbon, brownie batter, black malt & vanilla. Taste is similar with a silky mouthfeel, and hints of dark honey in the finish. Lovely beer.

4.0 Sporo beczki wanilia, kokos. Nieco za duzo alko i palonosci. Ogolnie niezle cho? i kwaskowosc wzmozona.

4.1 Z: czekolada, wanilia z beczki. Słodko, milo. S: czekolada słodko, finisz słodycz cukrowo, modowi. Jakaś palonosc, jakaś czekolada fajne, fajne.

4.2 2014. Bardzo fajne. Dużo nut burbonowych, sporo beczkowej wanilii, sporo słodkiej czekolady mlecznej. Złożone i wszystko tu ze sobą gra.

4.2 Bottle at Hopyard, november 11th 2016. Black body with dark brown head. Aroma is roasty with toasted coconut and vanilla, cocoa. Taste of chocolate, more coconut and earthy hops. Strong roasty finish with a beautiful vanilla layer. One of the better Ecplises I've had.

3.7 Pours black, decent off white head. Smell is grainy bourbon. Taste is sharp, bourbon, roasty, oak, bit boozy, mild bitter touch. Very decent, but not the best version.

3.8 Bottle from the dregs run. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of coconut, vanilla, dark chocolate. Taste is more of the same. Light boozy finish.

3.8 Bottle @Xmas Tasting 30.07.2017. Pours black tan head. Nose is vanilla, sweet malts and vanilla, some slight whisky at the back end. Taste chocolate and figs, slight honey and nuts.

4.0 Bottle at Craigs. Pours black, nose is honey, chocolate, bourbon, taste is similar, chewy, toffee.

3.9 Pours near opaque black with a firm brown head which hangs around. Aroma is honey, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is honey sweet, vanilla, coffee sweet, cocoa bitter.

3.7 65 cl bottle @ home (2014 vintage). Pours black with a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are bourbon, roasted malt, liquorice, and dark chocolate - with a slightly bitter finish.

4.1 Tomada en cata ratebeer Asturias. Imperial stout con Bourbon. Seca y alcoholica. Menos sabor a bourbon que la Four Roses. Potente. Equilibrada. Muy buena.

4.0 650ml bottle @ the office. Pours an opaque brown with a small tan head. Nose is rich, matly, with a bourbon note. Flavour is a sweet, smooth with chocolate and bourbon. Nice finish. Very Nice.

4.4 Smakprov på Ölbaren NK, Stockholm. Flaska från 2015. Svart med lågt, tjusigt beigebrunt skum som ligger kvar länge. I doften stora toner av bourbon, ekfat, toffee, kola, rågsyra, kaffe, läder, kandisocker, lätt rökiga toner och en viss äppelsyra. Stor, rund och fyllig kropp som balanseras upp väl av fatkaraktären. I smaken bourbon, lite lönnsirap, kakao, kolaremmar, mörkt kandisocker. Värmande alkohol som påminner om att detta är en potent öl. Lite välkommen spritighet i avslutningen. Sött, stort, väldigt gott, ruskigt välgjord fatlagring. Ligger kvar i munnen länge och riktigt gott.

4.0 From a 22 oz. bottle. 2013 vintage it is a dark mahogany brown with a slight tan head. The Aroma is slightly boozey with hints of vanilla. The taste is strong smooth with the Flavor of chocolate and bourbon. Nice finish

4.0 Cellar aged bottle to tulip. Vanilla, Bourbon. Just a beautiful, delicate aroma. Black, brown highlights and a full brown head that retains on the ring and across the top. Flavor is blended cocoa, coffee and Bourbon. Slight alcohol warmth. Sweet pitch.

4.2 Bottle from SB. Pitch. Black, beige head. Huge chocolate aroma fills the room when pouring, coffe, bourbon, vanilla are other a. Sweet maple syrup taste, bourbon and chocolate vanilla flavours. Medium body, not that thick mouthfeel I expected. It works though in this beer.

3.5 Bottle at Big Matt’s Eclipse tasting. Black with a creamy mocha ring. Sweet but dry on the finish with lots of chocolate, bourbon and some vanilla, not too sweet, dry on the finish, ends strangely (maybe it was Luc’s fault).

3.9 A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light peated notes, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, vanilla, nice and pleasant. Pours an opaque black beauty with a rich tan foam. Aroma is heavy roast malt, mild smoke, toffee , molasses, vanilla,oak. Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, lots of burnt sugar, toffee, bourbon vanilla, blackstrap molasses. Delish.

4.2 Bottle shared from Deconinck, Vichte - BE. Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: roasted malt, caramel and high sugar domination. Barrel notes, whisky notes. Very superb balance. Coffee notes. Taste: full body with roasted malt, coffee balance and good sweet caramel notes. Good attenuation, very superb bouquet. Barrel aged notes, whisky. Aftertaste: sweet roasted malt, coffee, caramel and sugar. Alcohol.

4.1 Bottle split at ABC Beer The Hague, 24/09/2015. Thanks. A dark caramel brown / black coloured pour with a loose tan head. Aroma is vanilla, caramel, oak, wood, smooth roasted malts and bourbon. Flavour is composed of milky coconut, roast, smooth vanilla oak, nutty. Palate is velety smooth, smoth, milky. Very Good.

3.6 2017 rate of a 2015 bottle. This is dark brown. Not much head. The aroma is very barelly, lots of bourbon, touch of chocolate...pretty complex. Lots of sweetness, milk chocolate, wood, some alcohol heat, 2016 rate: Cloudy dark brown. Has a tarry and slightly alcoholic note. Sweet, light toffee, and has a bit of almost floral honeyish barrel notes. 2022 rate: Tangerine wax. 2013 vintage. Dark brown, with light brown. This has some bourbon up front, and it's getting a bit thin. There's not a whole lot of nuance to it, just stout and barrel.
