Imagine yourself in Berlin’s Tiergarten enjoying this refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired beer on a warm summer’s day. Bretta Weisse honors the traditional beverage of the great Prussian capital, Berlin. Fredrick-the-Great was trained to brew it, and Napoleon’s troops called it “The champagne of the North”. Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.5% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months.

3.6375ml corked and caged bottle. (4.7% ABV) Pours a murky orange-yellow with yeast particles that sink to the bottom and a medium, foamy, long lasting,
white head that leaves curtains of lace. Tart aroma of grainy wheat malt, lemon, pineapple, peach, Brett and oak. Sweet flavour of wheat malt, lemon, pineapple, green apple, peach, oak and lacto with a dry, crisp, tart, slightly acidic finish. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Nice, very tasty.
3.8On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. dispensed to a snifter showing a hazed, orangey/gold color, with a finger's width of soft white froth that reduced to a persistent ring, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose was light yeasty funk, dried fruit, and candle shop/holiday spices. Medium bodied, the taste was similar, with an introduction to some lively tartness & tanginess, appropriate effervescence, dryness, and pleasant fruity & tannic astringency. A very appealing kettle Sour.
3.6Gulbrun tåkete med fingerhøyt hvitt skum. Lukter sure bær og frukter, korn og noe sydhavsfrukt. Sursyrlig smak, syreblader, epler og sure bær. Middels lang. (Grünerløkka Mikrobryggfestival 2018).
4.2Tap at Buster’s on 28th. Golden pour with a white head. Funky, oak, tart citrus. Yum.
2.7Fra fat på Cafe Sara. Varm gyldenbrun. Ikke helt klar. Filmskum. Plommearoma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken eik. Syrlig frukt i bakgrunnen. Frisk & god i sommervarmen. Tørr avslutning.
3.5Beautiful golden pour. Estery aroma with a lovely smooth flavor. Initially tart followed by some funky wood and light cereal malt at the end. Excellent beer

A soft poor produces a two fingers thick, Light tan colored head. The beer is a lightly hazed, pale Amber tinged, golden color. The aroma smells of lactic acidity, with a pale grain, Sun toasted note. The nose has a soft funkiness to it that I can best described as yeasty, musty, with a touch of phenolic character. As the beer warms up, and if you really dig for it, there is a bright fruit character here that is comprised of Meyer lemon zest, some pineapple and even some kumquat zest.
Nicely effervescent, and with a biting lactic acidity, which is boosted by a Carbonic bite. The acid character here contributes a lemon zest flavor and, despite being ample, has a rounded character to it. The beer is quite dry, but still has a fruitiness to it, in addition to the citrus, there is a soft pineapple note, and perhaps a hint of Apple. Soft toasted Oak flavors provide a nuttiness, which boosts the pale green flavors here. There is a soft musty note that suggest at a phenolic yeast character, and this definitely has a yeast like flavor, though this is all so soft. The body is nice and Light, though it does have some viscosity to it, which keeps us from being overly thin; made up of wood tannins and lactic slickness.
This beer was ridiculously expensive for what it is, having said that it is quite tasty and a really nice example of a Berliner weisse. I am thoroughly enjoying this beer, and a 375ml bottle just doesn't seem enough.
3.8Pours yellow with a small head, aroma of lemon, fresh, flavor is acidic with lemon, medium bodied
3.5Nice cork pop! Hazy, light golden color. Haller head settles to a finger of rocky, dense, light ecru foam. Sweet wheat and brett scents. Slightly bready aromas as well. Sweet and acetic. Sweet wheat with lemons and zest. I somehow think I could create this by pouring a significant amount of lemon juice in a light weiss bier. This has more qualities of a radler. Unique, yet simple.
4.0A golden Weisse with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, beautiful fruity esters overlayed with Brett, light candy sugar, light curacao, pleasant and restrained. Beautiful tart yet sweet citrus pulp, light tropical fruits, Brett, light lactic notes, subdued and complex. On tap at Propagator location.
4.2Lemon, wheat, funch, tart - strong citric acid puckering. Slight wooded notes to balance a nice lengthy finish.
4.2Rating #2760 - Draught sample at Sherbrooke. Pours a bubbly light yellow with a decent head - medium retention. Aroma is grapefruit, pineapple, Brett floral. Palate is tart, notes of lemon. Medium-high carbonation. Great bitter note. Phenomenal.
3.8Pale golden pour with a thin ring of white head and light sticky lacing .... aroma is funky sour Brett and of tart citrusy fruits, berries, dry oak, fruity esters indeed .... taste is of tart fruits, citrusy and light tropical notes with lots of dry oak, Brett and fruity esters .... dry bitter and tart finish, crisp and abrupt .... balanced and dry with lingering oak and fruit ... tart and lightly acidic not harsh but a softer tartness ..... very easy drinking
4.1On tap at at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Pours cloudy yellow orange with white head. Really nice berliner, lemon, citrus, funk, some wood, heavy sourness. Medium carbonation. Light bodied.
4.2Growler from Grunting Growler, Glasgow. Hazy pale gold with a white rim. Nose is most fine and complex: elegant spicy perfume (a combination of yeast and oak I think), and under that a tangy chalky tartness like Edinburgh rock. There's also something which might be wet straw. Taste is tart, bright, very very refreshing. Lemon sourness, gentle brett, and a very dry clean finish. Light body, super tart.
3.8Pours a hazy darkish amber from a bottle, thick white head that stays. Bright tart wheaty aroma, similar flavor but not overly tart, well-balanced. Pretty good beer.
3.6Bottled at TEJA tasting. Hazy golden, mid sized head. Oaky tart nose. Tart with light body and clean, crisp mouthfeel. Oak and lemon, lightly grainy. Low bitterness. Tasty and unique.
2.9Bottle, caged and corked. Hazy and yellow with a fizzy essence. Wild and funky,
as you'd expect. Super tart and sweet, this fits the advertised bill. I don't love the styel, so don't love this. But I suppose those who do like the style would like it.

3.0Bottle at SBWF. Clear golden color, small white head. Tart, apply aroma. Light-bodied. Tart, apply and citrusy. Active carbonation. Not much weisse here.
4.12017 bottle from Antenna America. Pours a cloudy bright orange-gold, solid finger of foam. Lovely bright citrus, lactic and funk aroma, underlying oak notes. Funky cheese and yoghurt flavour carried by grain, engaging fizz with citric tartness that softens with the creamy body in the backhalf, ends crisp with lingering lactic notes. Really nice drinking.
4.1375ml corked bottle, 2017 vintage. Bright stone fruit aroma with notes of lemon, wheat malt, Brett funk, lacto and oak. Pours clear pale golden colored with a half a finger of white head that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with bright stone fruit and wheat malt flavors as well as a very lively mouthfeel. Finishes dry with lemony citrus tartness as well as Brett funk, lacto and oak flavors. Really nice Berliner style brew.
4.1On tap at beavx 2017.Flavor and aroma of lemon peel, lactic acid, sour, malt.
3.6On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has lactic tartness and some sweet barrel notes. Taste is tart, lactic, grainy, really well balanced overall.
4.110 oz draft pour at Goed Zuur. Sometimes I see Firestone Walker on a menu and figure that it's definitely going to be good. This was no exception. This is a hazy yellow beer with a very large white head. Funky, rich, amazing aroma of oak, oranges, wool, barnyard, pepper, and cheese. It's extra dry with sturdy acidity, though never harsh. Flavors of oranges, barn, lemon, pineapple, wheat, and oaky white wine are present. Expert.
3.9On tap at the Firestone Walker Event at Takanoya, 1000 yen pints! It poured an orange gold with a minimal head of foam. Big oaky funk, red wine like aroma. Light bodied and nine dry with an intense acidic sour vineous quality, after it warms the oak even gives you a subtle vanilla quality. If you like sours you will adore this. Easy sipper on a hot sunny day, a cool dark evening not so much. Damn good though.
3.5Bottle from Beers of the World. Lots of funky yeast and hay flavors with notes of oak.
3.5Hazy golden pour with small off white head. Aroma of citrus, yeast, grains, wheat and slight oak. Taste of lemon citrus, yeast, grains, wheat and oak. Light bodied, tart finish, slightly dry and a pinch of salt.
3.9Tangy aroma of ripe and unripe persimmon, vinegar and oak notes. Hazy amber, medium head. Lemon, persimmon, less vinegary. Light body, easy carbonation
