Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale (DBA)

Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale (DBA)

A British Pale Ale never tasted so fresh. We challenge our good friends across the pond to match this one. Can’t be done. We’ve honored the traditions of the great British Pale brewers of Burton-on-Trent using our patented Firestone Union oak barrels. You’re left with a mild blend of vanilla and toasted oak flavor touched with an elegant hint of English noble hops. DBA is the flagship of our company and wildly popular

Toliko..

3.7 Deep amber with a creamy white head that lingers. Big malty aroma with notes of oak and caramel. Taste is mildly sweet with undertones of vanilla, toffee and ashes. Mildly bittersweet end. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. Outwardly simple, but nuanced.
3.3 Keg at The Press Room, Santa Barbara, CA on 09/05/2008. A very solid bitter, with a nice malt body. Slightly hoppier than most in the U.K. at this time.
3.8 On tap at Valhalla Craft Beer Bar, Zagreb. Clear golden to dark golden, small off-white head. Aroma is malty and fruity, cherry with a touch of caramel. Flavour is pleasantly caramely, caramel butter candy, chewy toffee and bread, some vanilla, some herbs.l, some nuts. Light body, moderate carbonation, moderately lasting finish. Good balance. Wonderfully executed.
3.6 Slightly hazy amber. Sparse head. Aroma intensity 3/5. Bread aroma, notes of liqueur, malt and prunes. Light bitter on light-some times medium sweet. Light to medium body
3.1 Bottle, 0.355l. Cloudy amber/copper pour, one finger soapy off-white head. Good retention, long lasting head. Broken lacing on the glass. Mild on the nose, malty notes, hints of wood, grains. Thin body, soft to medium carbonation. Light mouthfeel, watery texture. Expected a bit more body to say the least. At first a bit on the sweet side, bitterness slowly building up from the background. Aroma is a bit basic and quite mild. Caramel malt, wood, grains. Nutty, mild toasty. Not bad, actually, despite the watery nature. Quite drinkable. Finishes short and dry. Easily drinkable and refreshing but not something I'd pick up often. Good.
3.3 Bottle, early 2018. Malty, toast, caramel, dry wood, subtle nuts, red fruit, floral hoppy notes. A good ESB.
3.5 Tap at Goblet Zagreb. Clear dark amber body, creamy off white head. Dry aroma, malty, woody notes, oxidation - not promising! The taste, however, flips that around. Creamy, nice lean taste, oaky partly - vanilla. Excellent body, lovely carbonation. Very much balanced, very much drinkable. Surprisingly nice!

3.5 0.355 l bottle from K-citymarket Ruoholahti, Helsinki. Well, I expected maybe too much. This is still a decent bitter like ale, but because of the production methods I thought the taste would more exciting.
3.5 Bottle. 12 months past BB, so difficult to properly assess. Pours bronze with orange hues and a thin white head. Subdued barrel aromas, along with with caramel and soft floral hops. Subtle vanilla and oak, earthy and floral hops. The caramel malts are all a bit sweet with no fresh hops to stand up against them.
