Double Jack IPA is our first ever Imperial IPA. It features a big malty middle to cloak the high alcohol and mouth puckering hop bitterness. Huge tangerine, grapefruit and juicy fruit aroma blossom over the herbal blue basil and malt earthiness of this aggressive beer. Best enjoyed in moderation.

4.5Hoppy, tasty, citrusy, good beer. But my father did not like it so much. It is not boozy, its for summer! I think there is not big difference between this stuff and european made IPA. A little bit overrated ?
4.4A golden yellow with a white head. Aroma is citrusy and piney. Taste is very hoppy citrusy, lemon, orange and tropical fruits. Very dry. A masterpiece
4.0650 ml bottle poured at home. Pours golden with a beige head and good lacing. Smelled odd at first (fish I thought) but after a bit I picked up predominantly grapefruit. Taste is heavy malt and pine with a nice bitter finish. Good beer.
4.0It’s a Powerful Ale! Aroma is boozy along with tropical fruits and an earthy musty characteristic, golden in colour with a lasting cap head, flavours of toasted malts, hoppy tropical fruits and citrus and a bitter pepper aftertaste, has a slick full bodied mouthfeel.
4.0Stored bottle from Mai 2015 drank at 22.6.17 so be aware that the description could be misleading if you compare it to a fresh bottle. Off-white creamy average sized rather quick disappearing head. Beer is slightly murky and amber, copper golden in color. Aroma is intense, lots of hop, pine, exotic, fresh, orange and a bit of cinnamon. Taste is full and heavy after sweet roasted malt, caramel and a ton of bitter hops. Finish is intense and long, I say even very long. On the tongue is a continues fight between bitter and sweet, while the sweet is trying the bitter is dominating every round. Texture is creamy, Caribana is soft. For my personal taste I must admit this style of beer is not my favorite. It?s a tad to bitter and too intense. Anyway it?s a perfect example of this style and deserves the high rating.
4.3Clear amber beer with short white head, smell is heavy, tropical fruits, taste is heavy bitter, herbs, full body, oily, long finish,
(I have 0.65l bottle with best-before 20.10.2017 and batch 10/20/2016 15:05)
4.312oz bottle purchased at Sheffield’s and consumed in a tulip glass. Picture perfect color...hazy deep orange with a hint of amber. Assertive white head. Aroma is orange hard candy and tropical fruit. Taste is an extremely well balanced with maybe a slight lean on the sweeter side. Tropical fruit carries through. Malty undertones play a significant part as well. Alcohol presence is apparent but used quite effectively. This is a spot on version of a malt forward double IPA. Delicious.
3.7Taste: woody, spiced resin notes with tropical hops. Dry hopped and slightly boozy nose. Orange/Amber color, mostly clear, with foamy white head and ringed lattice. Medium/full body. Dry it is.
3.2Pours dark gold with one finger off white head. The nose is mango and orange peel. The taste is citrus, toffee grapefruit. A bit sweet and astringent. I think not very fresh.
3.7Bitter resin with slight hints of lemon. Full-bodied and creamy. Always solid.
4.5Trübes Bernstein mit sehr guter Schaumkrone. Herrlicher Duft. Super fruchtiger Körper mit harmonischer Hopfenbittere. Der Alkohol wird gekonnt versteckt!
3.59.5%ABV. Double IPA.
Poured out light amber. 12SRM.
Nose is pine and spicy with cilantro and scallion.
Sweet nose suggesting nice clean malty body that is full bodied and syrupy. It gets me in the mood to taste some big hop flavor.
Mouthfeel is syrupy and soapy. Palate is malted candy, corn syrup. hops are pine, pine sap, citrus peel, citrus oil.
Finish is medium with a lingering citrus oil flavor.
Overall, one of those sweet malt, dry hopped affairs for me. I don’t hate it, but my palate at the time of this review wants to have more bready heft which means more body, this sweet has not much body which means you get a 2 track tasting, big hops and big sweet malt and nothing to fill the void in between.
4.7Clean and refined bright copper color with an eggshell colored head of soapy white foam. Caramelized grapfruit character throughout with a tangy orange and reserved pine dryness in the finish.
4.8Bottle from Blackfriar’s. Outstanding. Chewy, pineapple and pine and lovely lingering hops and resin. Big orange smell, enticing deep orange colour. Absolutely one of the best Imperial IPAs I’ve tried.
4.0Bottle pour from One Stop Market. Appearance is clear amber with tons of sparkle, finger-width foamy white head with good retention and lots of sudsy lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit, grapefruit, citrus and dank, resinous hops. Taste is strong bitter dank resin with tropical fruits, citrus and late bready, biscuity malt base. Palate is light-bodied with thin texture, average carbonation and bitter over sweet finish. Overall, as advertised, this excels all around. That said, many have emulated this so it is not as unique as it may have once been. Maybe that’s enough reason to retire it? A little too bitter dominant for me.
3.6650 ml bottle from Canada Craft Club. Pours a clear golden orange with moderate-sized white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, sweet caramel, candy sugar and biscuit. Flavour is big on sweet caramel maltiness, some biscuit, grapefruit, tangerine, light pine and some candy sugar. Fine carbonation. Nice.
4.0Thanks to Canada Craft Club.
4.2Thank you Misawa AB AAFES Shopette! Orange hued clear with creamy short lived head. Nice pine resin hops with rich malty backbone. Chewy malt, lip-smackingly sweet with intense hops, citrus, floral.....wow, this packs tons of flavor into a 12 oz bottle! Very well balanced, thick body, what more could you ask for? This is a damned good beer!
4.2Pours golden color, haze with foamy white head. Aroma: intense hop notes, which takes on citruses, especially grapefruit, hint of ranferine, pine...flavor is similar, with intense hop profile, which takes on fruits mentioned above, supported with biscuit & toffee like malt backbone. Hop bitterness is very high but still perfectly balanced with malt backbone. Finish is dry, bitter, bitterness lingers in aftertaste. Body is medium, texture is smooth, carbonation is medium.
4.0Golden Klar im glas, angenehme kohlensäure, cremiger leicht eingetrübter schaum, angenehm fruchtig süss in der nase, schönes mündgefühl, voller körper, solide fruchtige bittere im abgang, alkohol leicht merkbar, trotz imperial relativ ausgewogen
4.0Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Smak chmielowy i solidna, przyjemna goryczka - wszystko pierwsza klasa.
3.6Hoppy nose. Amber color. Cedar citrus and booze. Maybe cloves at finish. Thicker mouth feel.
4.1650ml bottle from Elizabeth Station at Ilya’s. Bottled on 21-Jul-2016. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is candied citruses, some cold tea notes. Taste is very fruity, similar to the aroma. Still veeeery good.
4.0Bottle into snifter. Pours a hazy golden colour with white head. Aroma is big citrus and some candy sweetness. Taste is grapefruit and tangerine and candy sweetness.
4.1poured from a bottle. slight head but more lacing than expected. clear to slightly hazy amber appearance, a good amount of effervescence. Citrusy notes, creamy yet tangy on the taste, tangerine and orange flavors, strong, good beer.
Lange warme afdronk. Zeer goede ipa.
3.6Bottle @ "Frikicata Cervezorama", Sr. Lúpulo, Gijón. 24-01-2015.
12fl oz bottle. Bottled: 25-09-2014.
Pours hazy dark gold with nice white head. Fruity, herbal, subtle malty nose. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite bitter, herbal, fruity, some malty character, little sweetness. Robust beer, but still quite well balanced. Very enjoyable.
4.1A pre-Burlinton Winter Beer Fest brew from 2014. Heavy on the malt and boozy goodness, with some citrus and pine bitterness lingering in the background. Great beer.
4.2Bottle. Strong grapefruit, orange and floral aroma. Golden/copper in colour with a large frothy white head. Sharp citrus hop flavour well balanced by earthy malt notes. Medium to full body. Very bitter finish. Excellent.
3.8Fairly aged bottle for an IPA (10/6/16), yet still I find myself enjoying this. Deep golden-bronze pour. This one has malted up a little bit with age, but you still get some great herbal and piney notes, apricot, grapefruit juice and lemon zest, bright and sweet violet notes as well. Very unique. Syrupy malty apricot notes with piney eucalyptus, biting resin, dense peach. Malt with resin provides a synergistic flavor resulting in earthy cedar. Even old as hell, still a great IPA for the winter months. Full body with a bite!
