What began as a birthday gift, took on a life of its own. Proprietor David Walker cornered us one day and requested a sour cherry fermented beer for his 50th birthday. Done. A handful were sold at a Liberation, after which our loyal patrons demanded more. Voilà, Krieky Bones Batch #2! This beer begins its life as a Flanders Red style beer aged 24 months in a 2200 gallon French oak foeder. Sour Montmorency cherries are added and allowed a secondary fermentation. The aroma is of cherry pie complete with flavors of pie crust and spicy notes. Vienna malt notes give way to an assertive acidity, and a bright carbonation. A santé!

4.3Pours a bright red on tap with fluffy peaks of pink white foam that dissipate slowly to leave moderate lace. Aroma of big tart cherry notes up front that fall to musty oak and brett, finishing with a clean acidity. Taste follows, huge on the fruit, with a great barrel character and light kisses of acidity and brett. Complex and flavorful, really well done.
4.3375 ml bottle into tulip glass; Batch 004, bottled on 6/19/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper/light reddish color, with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome balance and complexity of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge juicy/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light pepper/musty/lacto funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is an amazing fruited sour/wild ale. All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish; not overly lactic. Amazing balance of super juicy/jammy cherries, and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak presence and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp drying. A highly amazing offering, and top tier style example. Aged wonderfully on the wild complexity.

Cloudy amber colour, large bubbles. Light cherry aroma, hint to the sourness. Dry mouthfeel, soft; it has the nice funky character of Lambics, with moderate juice touch, moderate acidity, light glue.
Actually, very good.
3.8375ml bottle at Alex's.
Appearance: murky pale copper
Aroma: cherries, berries, funk, lambicish
Taste: similar
Overall: very nice, probably one of the closest US produced beers closed to the original lambics
3.9Light reddish/amber in colour, well balanced cherry profile to the beer, matched well with a pleasant acidity
4.6Blood orange champagne like pour with sufficient foam. Very cherry but not too sweet. Really good. I'm hooked.
3.8Red with small white head. Mild sour fruity aroma. Mild sour fruity taste with hint of balancing sweetness and cherry notes.
3.9Sampled at Good Karma, pours a red shade with an average head. Notes are massive montmorency cherry funk which I absolutely love. Some other flavors of oak, lemon, light vinegar, and pool toy. Really nice American style Kriek. Wanted to get a glass but was sticking to the hops this day.

4.2Initially sweet then then then the cherriness says Hi and it becomes a drink you can savour.
4.0Love this! Fruity but still packs a punch. Still quite strong, so don’t have too many!
4.9Deep sour cherries with a lingering coconut coating. Put your feet up, light the fire and toast to paradise.
5.0It is liquid cherry ripe. If you like cherry ripes, this beer is right up your proverbial alley.
4.0Tap @ Odd Culture. Pours reds with good clarity and very small white head. Subdued cherry, oak and nut aromas. Up front sourness, with tanniny cherries, an ever slight hint of wood smoke, nuts, deep complexity, yet finishes light and begs another sip.
4.1Great beer to kick off the taste buds and set up for round 2 IPA. Ratebeer hosting app launch at The Taphouse!

Mycket gott.
3.3Scent of cherry and sourness. Light Malt and Cherry. Lightly sour aftertaste that fills the upper part of the mouth for a while. Okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
