Firestone Walker Nitro Merlin Milk Stout

Firestone Walker Nitro Merlin Milk Stout

A unique spin on the Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout. The addition of lactose (milk sugar) and a dose of nitrogen transforms our original stout into ribbons of French silk chocolate and mocha latte richness.

3.8 31May2021 Dark roast malts, filter coffee, cacao, burnt toast. Hazy, very dark brown, medium, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. Massive chocolate, cacao, dark roast filter coffee, burnt toast, soft carb, full bod. Very nice, rich, smooth and roasty. Can from The House of the Trembling Madness.
3.2 Can sample at a tasting. Deep brown with beige head. The aroma has notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, nuts, coffee, coconut. The flavor is mild sweet and mild bitter with notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee. Medium-bodied.
3.1 Dark brown colour with creamy head. Slightly bitter dark malts. Smooth texture. It's ok. Plain but pleasant.
2.8 Black with a creamy, beige head. Aroma of tootsie roll, oatmeal, coffee grounds. Slightly burnt undertones. Taste is mildly sweet the whole way through with a bit of cream sweetness lingering on the tongue. Body is fairly light, as well as limp with virtually no carbonation. Seems like I’m drinking a beer that’s been sitting around for a few hours. The watery texture also feels off. Drinkable but flawed.
3.8 355ml can. Opaque, dark brown colour with late awakening, extremely thick, dense, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Relatively weak, toasty, roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of French press coffee, dark chocolate, white coffee, "Merci" mocha chocolate. Taste is roasty, toasty, dark malty, subtle dark caramel sweetness, hints of French press coffee, white coffee, mocha chocolate, a touch of white coffee; slightly bitter roasty finish. Creamy texture, smooth, super soft and silky, minimally cloying palate, very fine, creamy carbonation. Profits a lot from the Nitro "state of aggregate" concerning "secondary" qualities, not outstanding concerning aroma and taste - pretty decent.
3.7 Can: Very dark amber coloured with a faint ruby sheen, medium-sized stable and creamy tanned head, moderate sweet-bitter aroma of toasted malt, dark malt and coffee, delicate traces of (almondy) dried fruits; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and pretty soft; lingering bitter-sweet chocolatey and toasty-bitter finish. GOOD! Nearly a liquid "Black Forest Kirsch cake" (Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte)...

3.2 Can. Black/brown pour with tan head. Roast and chocolate aroma. Hint of cream. Taste is smooth and a bit medium to thin bodied.
3.1 Can at a tasting. Reddish brown. Aroma of candy, caramel, coffee. Sweet, roasted coffee, caramel, vanilla, dark fruits. Medium to light bodied, dry finish.
3.8 Pours black from the head with a 2-finger beige head. Gentle aroma and full taste of roasted malts, cocoa, coffee. Easy sweetness. Full creamy mouthfeel. Lovely nitro smoothness. Creamy finish.
3.7 Creamy tan head stayed on a reddish brown still body. Malt, lactose & berry aroma. Medium bodied, smooth, silky & creamy with a clean back. Nutty, roasted, lactose, brown sugar & very tastes. Moorish!
3.8 Almost black beer, a head is creay, medium and yellowish beige. Aroma has chocolate, roastiness of coffee, hint of bready maltyness and hazelnut. Taste has coffee, roastiness, some chocolate, nuts, smooth. Medium bodied, velvety palate. What a great beer, simple beauty.
3.7 355ml can. Hard pour leaving a dark brown/near black appearance with a good sized tanned creamy head; certainly looks the part. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee beans, creamy lactose. Its a smooth creamy texture with very low carbonation. Taste is surprisingly mellow with milk chocolate at forefront and roast/coffee elements more in the background. Lovely sessionable milk stout that's almost too easy to drink at 5.5%.
3.4 Backlog. Pours near black with a dense tan nitro head. The flavor is like creamy dark roast coffee, but the smell is odd. I’m not sure how to describe it. It has a light body for a stout. Good. Not sure what’s up with aroma.
3.7 Can from Trembling Madness. Black with a creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma, flavour is cream, chocolate, coffee. Decent milk stout
3.6 Black beer, off white head. Malty aroma. Flavour is malt, a little dark chocolate, a bit to f creaminess. A nice, smooth milk stout.
3.4 12 Oz Can. There are instructions on the side of the can on how to pour this beer. It is best to follow the instructions. When you do you will see that the beer pours a very dark brown and is opaque in the glass. Flavor is a mild milk stout, which I found surprising. I was expecting a full bodied beer with a high calorie count. Nevertheless, this is a tasty beer good with a light dinner.
3.9 Smooth deep rich taste licorice
3.3 Can. Black pour. Aroma of creamy mocha coffee, chocolate, licorice, caramel, soft smoke and a little hopjesvla. Tastes has creamy bitter chocolate, mocha coffee, licorice, smoke, caramel, a little peat and malt. Peat flavor is a bit weird, does it belong here? Solid creamy stout.
4.1 Fairly trad mill stout pour with lovely nitro theatrics. Almost odourless, with just a hint of milk chocolate. Dense nitro head. Lovely soft mouth feel, of course! The milk-est milk stout flavour, like it was straight from the fridge door. It never gets too sweet, and the finish reveals delicate chocolate and burnt charcoal.
3.5 355 ml can, from Vinoble Frederikshavn. ABV is 5.5%. Nearly black colour, not much of a nitrogen pour, small beige head. Aroma of moderately roasted malts, lactose, chocolate and mild coffee. Soft mouthfeel. Roasty flavour, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, a slight lactose sweetness, medium bitter finish.
3.4 35.5cl blik. Helder donker bruin kleur, fijne romige creme schuimkraag. De geur is koffie en chocolade. Smaak is zoet, lactose, chocolade en karamel. Licht body en veel koolzuur.
3.6 Pours deep dark brown close to black with a small tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, mild coffee and some dark fruit notes. Sweet taste that ends up being slightly more dry. Medium bodied, oily to creamy texture an soft carbonated. A very nice Stout. 🌟🌟🌟
3.8 Where: Can at home With: M Color: Opaque Black Head: Cascading and off white Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate and oatmeal Taste: Very smooth, roasted malt flavors from beginning to end, rounded out by lactose in the finish. 3.8/5
3.6 Draft. A black beer with a dense and lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, and a bit of lactose. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a bit of lactose, leading to a bitter finish.

3.5 330ml can. Pours a deep black with strong white head. An interesting nose with coffee but not quite as I know it. Full body with rich chocolate and malt. A really interesting beer but I'm not quite sure on one of the flavours.
3.8 Pours black with a off white head. Aroma of chocolate, grains and some coffee. Taste is really smooth, chocolate, coffee and vanilla
3.7 Really a style definer. Like a modern guinness, clean light balanced super drinkable like a light lager. Graeffe Hamburg
