Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest

Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest

Our twist on the German Märzen bier, we give you a Paso Märzen. Traditional imported malts offer subtle honey-like aromas with hints of Noble hop spice. The stars of this brew are the imported Pilsner and Vienna malts that offer malty sweetness that carry through to the end. German Hallertau hops add rich Noble hop character to balance this exceptional Marzen. This beer is 100% stainless steel and gets the name Oaktoberfest as an ode to our hometown, Paso Robles, Spanish for "Pass of The Oaks". True to Oktoberfest custom, this beer makes its debut in time for fall to celebrate the age-old German tradition.

3.4 Bottle. Deep amber colored body with a hint of white head. Nose of apples and caramel. There is a little bit of malty dough. The taste is some apple cores and light tobacco hints. It is a little sweet with a slightly woody iced tea note in the finish. Overall a tasty beer that tends toward a little sweet and fruity for an Oktoberfest.
3.3 Standard Oktoberfest aroma, malty with a hint of spice. See through light bronze color. Easy drinking taste, only a few distinguishing Oktoberfest characteristics. Bland palate. This beer doesn't take many chances; I wish they would have been as creative as I know this brewery usually to be.
3.9 A pretty solid Oktoberfest, with a mild oak twist. Pleasant zesty noble hop tone up front leads to clean, fresh, medium malt tones. The oak imparts a mild vanilla toastiness. Really enjoyable beer all around.
3.4 Decent enough Oktoberfest in more of the traditional style as it's not so sweet with a bit of toast coming through. On the other hand the oak doesn't do it any favors and there's a little bit more bitterness than needed.
3.5 Clear to pale golden pour with a thin white head and light lacing …. Aroma of sweet yummy Vienna malts, oak, sweet grainy and grassy hops …. Taste is of grainy malts, dry oak, sweet malts, grassy hops, light bitter hops and sweet malts …. Finish is malty and grassy … nice sessionable spin on an Oktoberfest
4.0 Uggh! I hate that if you want fresh Oktoberfest beers you need to buy them in August! Either way this is a really nice lager. Caramel, Oak, moderate carbonation.
3.5 Draft at the Venice brewpub after a morning run through the homeless gauntlet along the beach. Classic caramel color with bubbly carbonation making a foamy, khaki head. Nice aroma of caramel malt and lager yeast. Flavor is light with the hops adding light bitterness but sweetness form the malt balances. Hint of spice. Enjoyable. Earlier Rating: 8/31/2016 Total Score: 3.3 Can from Bottlecraft SD. Clear golden, amber color with a spotty white head and streams of tiny bubbles. Aroma is malty lager and not much else. Flavor is lager yeast, light caramel and bitterness from noble hops. Fine I suppose.
2.2 Tap into a crowler at JR's. On sale for overstock for $3, heheheh. Decent initial fest response and then it goes a little cloying. A clear pale fest fer sher. Getting used to it in the middle. Not bad overall.
3.4 Clear orange amber pour, small thin white head, okay retention. Aroma of cereal grain, slight toasted malt, grassy hops. Taste is lightly sweet. Flavours are lighter malts, crackers, with a herbal hop finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Lighter and cleaner Oktoberfest.
3.1 Where and how: can 473? ml @ home Aroma pleasant nice malty nose, sweet with just fain hint of white pepper, gentle whiff of noble hops at top end. Appearance : Top: medium sized off white cap. Base: amber with some haze in it Palate : soft medium plus bodied, present yet delicate carbonation, shorter finish. Taste: as in aroma, straight pleasant malt work with slight hint of noble hops. Slight tartness. Refreshing.
3.8 Aroma is fruit, oak/slightly smoky and malts. The flavor is fruit/berries, mild oak/smoky, slight acidity, a bit of sweetness, malts and a dryish/tart finish.
3.2 473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces nicely. Light aroma of bready malt, grain, caramel and orange. Sweet flavour of bready malt, caramel, grain, orange and a hint of honey with a crisp, dry, bitter grass finish. Light body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Not bad, easy drinking.
2.6 Orange-gold with white head. Aroma has cereal and mild floral overtones. Lightly malty flavors. Seems a bit over carbonated for the style and lacks body. Drinkable but not a good representation of an Oktoberfest/Marzen.
3.6 4x 16 oz can pack from Roths Sunnyslope Market..very dubious about this..way out of date..this is not what i expect from Roths..but as they were $6.99 giving it a chance. Pours a golden clear colour with a largish rocky /frothy off white head. Nice honey malty aromas.. toasted cereal and honey.nice. Smooth honey sweet and with the slightest touch of grassy hop. Good for gulping. Mouth feel allows great drinkability..which is what an Oktoberfest is all about surely? Overall a super Oktoberfest..very light , very tasty and very gulpable.
3.5 Ar: Toasted malt, grass, and hay; herbal and rich malt, but with a lighter edge. Ap: Bright orange-amber, crystal-clear and brilliant; medium off-white head with good retention, leaves a ring of assorted-size bubbles and a thin cap of blotchy foam. T: Toasty malt with a very, very light sweetness; hay and a light sulfur note; cracker malt and herbal hops on the finish, with a low bitterness; very clean ester profile, with just a hint of sulfur and butter. P: Medium body with high carbonation; finish is medium-dry. O: Tasty oktoberfest-style beer; good depth of malt flavor and restrained hopping; fermentation profile is quite clean, and the beer has a very pretty look; quite quaffable, with none of the overly sweet and pronounced caramel flavors that many American-style oktoberfest beers suffer from.
3.2 Pours clear amber color with a tight, 2-finger white head. Biscuit malt aroma with some caramel. Vanilla oak note as it warms. Medium body with a brief finish. Wood notes mix with biscuit malt. A touch of hops bitterness underneath lightens it a touch. Maybe a note of caramel too.
3.2 Can. Pours amber with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dough, and grass. Flavor of toasted malts, caramel, dark bread, grass, grains and had a bit of honey.
3.3 Pounder: Hay aroma. Clear amber, thick head. Dried leaves, honey. Light body, easy carbonation.
3.5 Faintly malty nose with very slight bubblegum banana notes. Pours a medium amber. Pleasantly balanced maltiness and bitterness, with a delicate noble hop flavor and no objectionable harshness. Medium-slick honey-like mouth feel. Very drinkable brew, but nothing really grabs me about this one.
2.6 Can at home with Caressa and Apollo. Picked this up because I was craving some oak barrel, and an oaky oktoberfest sounded perfect and intriguing, then I read the description on this page. Kind of deceiving. Anyways this can poured crystal clear light brownish amber with a huge foamy head. Faint malt on the nose with a whiff of maple syrup. It’s a light bodied marzen, lacking the expected malty, bready sweetness. Lighter bodied. Lightly hopped, a bit of crispness on the finish. This is unsatisfying as a marzen. Light on everything including flavor. Pass. Not what I would expect from FW.
3.5 Tallboy can from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Slightly hazy amber, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee and toasted malts, mild nutty notes. The taste is toasted malt, caramel, green and herbal hops. Thin bodied.
3.3 Poured from can into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a golden-orange-amber color with a big billowy white head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good sum of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is mainly a mix of caramel and lightly roasted malt smells mixed with a rather decent oaky taste. Along with these smells comes some lighter aromas of spice with a little bit of nutmeg and some clove. Taste – The taste begins with a toasted malt taste with a little bit of a caramel sweetness. Overall the sweetness is very light with it remaining so throughout the taste. While the sweetness remains lighter, the roastiness and some cracker tastes grow stronger as the taste moves forward. Along with these flavors comes some nice light oaky and woody tastes as well as a little bit of a herbal flavor, one is left with a slightly drier and toasted malt taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly lighter side while the carbonation level is rather high. For the Oktoberfest style I was not all that impressed overall. Less carbonation and more body may have accentuated the malt and some of the roasted flavors a little bit better. Overall – An alright Oktoberfest, but in my opinion, not really what an O’fest is supposed to taste like. Not enough maltinesss and sweetness all while having a little bit too much roast and wood/oak. OK, but not really a great Oktoberfest in my mind.
3.0 Pours the colour of straw with a light head and no lacing. The taste is of breadiness, honey and citrus. It’s a smooth brew. A little on the light side for the style. Not bad but not great.
3.1 Pour is a light amber, clear and almost no head. Aroma light and malty with a little sweetness. A good beer but just not very exciting. If you want light, clean and malty you will love this.
3.0 Can, the pour is clear and caramel blond color with a medium thin head. The aroma is light and slightly oak. The taste is a clean ale, not much notes of caramel but a good white oak note. The finish is woody.
3.2 Pours a very clear gold, with ample white head. Aroma is malty. Taste is typical marzen, with lots of malt and a touch of pilsner flavor. A decent, if unspectacular Oktoberfest. The "oak’ moniker tricked me into thinking this beer was wood aged, but it’s not. Still, worth a try.
3.0 473ml can pours a clear golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grass, light citrus and mild grains. Taste is a light citrus and grassy hop bitterness with a malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a true to style brew that is typical, nothing really stands out.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a golden color with a fair head and some lacing. Aroma of malt, citrus and grain. Taste of malt sweetness, bit of citrus and spice. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body, smooth with a bit of a malty feel. Nice beer but expected a bit more.
3.2 Draft @ Toronado San Diego, SanDiego, CA. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy weak grassy aroma. Fruity malty grainy weak grassy flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy weak grassy hoppy finish.
4.2 Can from Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes (VA) Aroma: honey, caramel, spicy hops Appearance: clear golden with a white head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, long finish, Tasty
