Firestone Walker Parabola

Firestone Walker Parabola

Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.

Lingering savory spicy finish with dark chocolate and bourbon. 9/10 Mouthfeel: Full bodied, moderate carbonated. Oily texture and smooth. 4/5 Overall There is no certainty that whether I prefer this or Fremont Dark Star. In a word, this is quite salty, spicy and toasty, yet well balanced. Good alcohol hiding though 13.6% isn't among the highest abv of Imperial Stout. 16/20
4.1 Svart farge med brunt skum. Lukter kaffe, mørk sjokolade. Smaker salt lakris, karamell, sirup. God sødme og alkoholvarme som avslutning. 2020 versjon. Cafe Sara september 2020
4.2 2021 version. Nose of licorice and slight booze. Taste follows with nice hop bite. Very nice.

4.1 On tap at Super Deli Mart: 2016 Vintage Parabola, Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout | ABV: 13.1%. OK, I've had this many times in various variations and hey, it's always big, bold, hearty and tasty for a barrel aged imperial stout lover, and this species is no different ... very fine brew.
4.3 From 2018 bottle (12.7%abv) just on cool in snifter. Pours deep reddish brown w/a cm of tan head, aroma of bourbon, roast malt, licorice, treacle. Very rich malty sweetness, boozy and spicy finish
3.8 2018 version. Pours dark brown with a small head. Nose shows vanilla, bourbon, roasted coconut and soft booze. Flavours include more booze, some bourbon, caramel, sultanas and brown sugar. The booze is pretty full-on.
3.7 Bottle. A- Mild licorice, cocoa, char. A- Black color, black liquid, beige head. T- Anise, char, cocoa, slightly bitter. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- Even at almost 4 years old this had a bit of bitterness with it. I imagine it's pretty aggressive fresh. This was solid but I think at this point it's just another quality stout, would like to try more of the variants though.
4.2 From a 355ml bottle on 31/12/2020 (shared with Butz, 2018 vintage, ABV listed as 12.7%, No 009). Pours a deep brown with a small head. Has a big and impressive chocolate and oak/barrel. Very smooth on the sip, it's intense but surprisingly easy drinking, with lots of milk chocolate, a good dash of dark fruit, with mildly boozy bourbon. Really intense, well balanced and enjoyable. Excellent.
3.7 Draught @ Saint Elias, Bushwick (3/4/20). 2020 edition. Opaque dark brown with small foamy beige-teak head, woodsy dark chocolate-bourbon aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter woodsy mocha bourbon taste with strong alcohol undertones, smooth thin body, long finish with alcohol aftertaste. Alcohol escapes, but otherwise great!
3.8 Bottle (2019 vintage) from The City, Seabrook. Appearance is almost opaque dark brown (deep mahogany with light source directly behind) with nice sparkle, thin cap of ephemeral fizzy light brown head and no lacing. Aroma is strong earthy, peaty, woody roasted malts (bordering on smoky); very mild vanilla. Taste is strong dark fruit, bourbon, earthy, peaty roasted malt, milder late molasses and hint of anise. Mouthfeel is full bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation, strong alcohol warmth and finish as taste with lingering earthy bitterness. Overall, given the legend of this, frankly I expected more. Did I age it too long? Bourbon was muted in taste and basically absent in aroma; I wasn't digging the "charred oak flavor" and more bitter than I like (and would expect as typical for the style). Meh.
3.8 Black with a minimal light brown head. Aroma of wooden barrels, dark fruits and sweet malts. Sweet with a warm wooden barrels and some dried fruit end. Vintage 2018
4.1 22 oz bottle. Pours a pitch black in color and topped by a small tan layer of foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma is nice showing notes of rich, dark chocolate, toffee, tobacco, and a touch of dark fruit over a dark roasted malt base with further notes of bourbon and oak laden vanilla. The flavor follows with the rich, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, bourbon, and vanilla up front to go with the roasted malts, old oak, and a firm roasty bitterness on the back end to balance things out. Very rich with loads of dark chocolate, bourbon, and a touch of smoke. Full bodied and slick on the palate with soft carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet dark chocolate, bourbon oak, and vanilla on the finish with lingering warmth from the alcohol. A true old school style non-adjunct stout with great depth and barrel character. Really nice sipping beer here.
4.5 0,3 litre Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Almost Black with little head. Roasted malts, coffee, tobacco, Chocolate, bourbon, sweetness, leather,
4.1 From bottle (2020). Opaque with thin beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate and bourbon. Sweet, hints of vanilla with a cocoa finish.
4.2 355ml bottle @ Kelly's cabin. 2018 Vintage. Pours an opaque black shade with a small brown head. Nose is roasted malt, burnt sugar, gentle dark chocolate, and light bourbon. Flavour is rich roasted malt, molasses, dark chocolate, hints of dark fruits, and a smooth bourbon character. Medium bodied, good carbonation, and a moderate sweetness with a balanced abv smoothness.
4.5 13.6% 2020 vintage
4.8 Solid dark syrupy. 2020 vintage fresh and strong
4.1 Bottle pour, very thick and dark like tar. Strong bourbon and vanilla aroma. Very full bodied, very strong dark chocolate, lots of tar and charred wood notes, some bitterness left behind from the roasted malts. Very intense and heavy.
4.3 Bottle 2020. Parabola vintage. Aroma of bakers chocolate and bread. A bit of soy sauce too. Dark black with tan head. Flavor on the front is velvet cocoa sweet and molasses with a coffee bitter bread end. Fantastic balance and smooth mouthfeel. Great beer. Alcohol is not overpowering but definitely there.
4.6 Bottiglia 2018. Quasi totalmente nera, poca schiuma color nocciola e dalla velocissima evanescenza. Profumo ciliegie, prugna, uvetta, leggera vaniglia, tostature, legno affumicato e bourbon. Ottima
4.3 2020/01/03 - 2019 Vintage. Pours dark brown (nearly black), with a thick, foamy, beige head that quickly reduces and leaves no lacing. Aroma is rich chocolate, vanilla, toffee, oak, bourbon, lots of tobacco and roasted malts with hints of black cherry and dark red fruits. Taste is loads of toasted malts and tobacco and hints of chocolate, toffee, vanilla, oak, bourbon, licorice and dark red fruits. Mouthfeel is full and oily with soft carbonation and a long finish that is sweet, toasty and warming. Wow. Fantastic beer. The tobacco notes add complexity and depth.
3.9 0.355 l bottle from 'Braufactum' (web shop) at 14.5% abv, 2017 vintage, cellared for over a year. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, minimally fruity aroma of praline, coffee, hazelnut, some licorice and traces of bourbon. Fairly sweet, malty, gently roasty, minimally fruity taste of praline, hard roasted coffee, bourbon, whisky, vanilla, hazelnut and a touch of dark fruity, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, slightly boozy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. While the aroma is pretty restrained, the taste is rather intense and demanding. It's still very well-balanced and the depth and intensity provide for a really good beer.
3.7 Vintage bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour opaque black with moderate tan head. Nose light barrel, red fruit, tobacco, mineral chocolate. Taste lightly oxidized, chocolate, mineral, tobacco, red fruit.
4.3 2011 bottle. Pours tar black with a tan head. Aroma of licorice, tobacco, roasted malt, vanilla, and dark chocolate. Roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor with some smoky oak notes, vanilla, and still a hint of booze. A true sipper. Delicious!
4.6 Parabola is a dream beer. Beautiful aromas of oak and bourbon. Small tan head tantalizes you. Dissipates quickly to reveal the prize. Deep richness await as an lingers in the mouth
