Fish Tale Organic Amber Ale

Fish Tale Organic Amber Ale

Medium-bodied with an appealing amber hue, this is the First Ale of the Republic. Its organic pale, Munich, and crystal malts create a gentle sweet character that is difficult to resist. From organic Hallertauer hops come a zesty flavor and aroma that beautifully balance Organic Amber’s malt profile. The result: Truly delicious ale that salutes organic farmers and all the goodness they bring to our tables.

2.2 bitter sweet, med bodied, bit of a soapy mouth feel, but not all that bad. Caramel malts leads nicely into the Hallertauer hops. Short citrusy punch at the end. Aftertaste is honey and caramel. Not a bad beer, but not great. Would be really nice on a hot spring day.
2.9 Bomber pours an almost clear amber with small disappearing white head. Aroma is caramel malts and weak hops. Taste is mostly sweet with slight bitterness in the finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a soapy mouthfeel. OK for an amber, but not one I’ll eagerly try again.
2.8 Pours hazy amber, finger white head Smell bread and caramel Taste light powdery bready on finish Light Decent
3.3 Growler. Clear amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel malt, herbal hops and light fruitiness. Flavor is mostly mild caramel malt with a faint hop presence and fairly clean yeast. Medium body with a smooth mouth fee. Solid amber, goes down easy.
3.2 12 oz. bottle. Pours amber with a tight soapy khaki head that settles to a soapy film. Aroma is sweet malt and crystal sugar and faint dulled hops (very very faint). Taste is light bitterness and watery with the sugary malt come into play. Palate is thin and watery with a dry finish. The aroma is the best part of this beer.
3.5 Decent, nice malt taste with some nice sweetness. High carbonation very drinkable.
2.9 12 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and a bit of citrus. Taste is similar. Decent.
2.4 Bottle. This is a pretty straightforward amber with some nice maltiness going on.
2.1 Bottle. Pours a hazy darker amber with slight reddish tinge and almost no head. Nose is almost non-existent. Taste is definitely malty and a little sweet. Not a whole lot else
3.0 Wish all beer was organic... This one is a bit too sweet though, a really sweet and malty amber.
3.3 A good amber. Pours amber of course with a small head. Malt, bread and caramel in the aroma. The flavor is similar. Just a touch of hops to offset the bitterness.
3.6 Bottle at By the Bay Cafe in Seiku. Amber brown color with white head. Caramel malts and hops nicely balanced. Really nice NW amber.
2.1 Rather grainy and sadly has a hint of a cheap beer taste. Easy drinking though.
3.2 355ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of white head that settles quite quickly leaving some sporadic lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and grass with some hints of chocolate and citrus. Taste is caramel and light chocolate malty sweetness with a grassy and citric hop bitterness. Light to medium on body with some decent carbonation. A pretty good amber brew that is easy to drink and satisfies the palate nicely.
3.6 Bottle at chow 284. Cloudy deep orange brown. Caramel, sweet malt, brown sugar aroma. Extremely sweet brown sugar, caramel, a mild bite of hoppiness. This is a weird one. , it’s watery, but the sugar makes it palatable. Some almond nuttiness.
3.8 Aroma is earthy and mildly sweet malts, mild nuttiness and a hint of hops. The flavor is sweetish malts, an undertone of citrus and and a mildly hoppy and bitter finish.
3.0 Aroma is a very faint sweet, floral smell with a tiny bit of citrus. Poured a clear amber with a small white head. Taste is an interesting mix of malty sweetness and I’m getting a slight raisin taste as well which is followed by a bit of hops bitterness. Feels light bodied and kind of watery.
3.3 12 ounce bottle at beer tasting in Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for Craft Beer Week. Good!
2.7 Originally reviewed: 5/21/11. Cool bottle sent down to me from my brother. Never had anything from these guys, so, excited to give ’em a try. 22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark rusty ruby color with a small white head capping it off. Light lace left behind. The nose is not hoppy in any way, which is odd, given the style. Lots of toffee and malt in the aroma. Light fruitiness on the finish. The mouth is moderately full. Ample carbonation. Creamy finish. The flavors are a little tame as well. This is definitely erring on the side of malts, rather than hops. Sweet caramel, toffee, breads. Very faint bitterness. I wish there were a bit more punch to this, but I’m not surprised given its organic background. My experience with most ’organics’ is that they are usually mellow, and lacking in zip. Still, not a bad beer to have on a warm afternoon.
2.9 Originally reviewed Feb. 18, 2007: poured in a tripel chalice. probly not a good choice. anyhoo, head was very little, and didn't last. left a sparse skim in glass. aroma shows hints of roasted malts and a sweet floral fragrance. taste reflects the malt smells. light hops present. goes down easy and mouthfeel is decent. probly won't get this beer again to just drink.
3.7 Bronze color with a small head. Aroma is wood, wet leaves, and eucalyptus. Flavor is pleasantly bitter, with some cedar in the finish. Palate is smooth and creamy, but a bit oily as well. Overall, this beer reminds me of a walk in the woods. Not bad at all.
3.6 Really like this one overall. Except for the Winterfish, this is the best one yet. Pours out a bright amber with hues of orange along the glass. A thin cap of liught beige head and massive bands of lacing all over the glass. The nose has a sweet caramel and grain prominent malt and a light floral hop. A bit of a skunky note, but oddly appetizing aroma. The taste is sweet and lightly malted with nice cereal grain notes and light citrus hopped notes. Not too astringent or bitter, but nicely balanced. Overall, a fantastic session amber
3.3 Bottle, this ale had a clear red pour with some burnt orange color and a few particles in the glass, and made an off-white one finger head that receded, effervescence was a little less than medium with a center stream and a few bubbles here and there, this beer left some spots and fingers on the sides of the glass, no sediment in the bottle, the aromas were light toasted malt and bread, caramel with some honey sweetness and very light hops, this beer had flavors of toasted malt, faint nut and caramel, there was a faint hop bitterness after the finish, the mouth feel was light with soft carbonation, an ok drink.
3.3 A very balanced ale. Some mildly sweet malt (caramel, nut, toast) with a bit of a hoppy finish that is not extensively bitter. Quite drinkable and a good session ale.
2.0 from a bottle. nice light brown hazy look about it. smell is floral hints and malt. strong initial personality. yes, quite strong. rather difficult for a lager lover. malty alky finish says this must be at least 6 percent.
2.8 Bottle. A pleasant bread, hop and caramel aroma and flavored beer. Nothing too dominant, but hey, it’s organic and still has flavor.
3.1 Bottle. Dark chestnut-amber with a thin but solid head. Somewhat sour, woodsy aroma. This drinks with a mushy, wet wood base, that near-sourness rearing its head in the background, slightly nutty, too. (#4389, 12/11/2011)
3.4 Bomber. Amber colored with burnt orange highlights and foamy off-white head. The aromatic notes are mostly biscuit malt, citrus and grains. The taste starts off with strong caramel and bready malt flavors with some herbal hops and pine toward the back end. The body has medium-level carbonation and finishes malty with some slight bitterness and citrus notes. It’s drinkable enough with a decent blend of malt and hops for an Amber.
3.1 12oz bottle. Pours a light amber color with a thick frothy off white head that slowly fades to thin lacing. Aroma is of fresh baked bread, smooth malts, and faint alcohol. Taste is bread, caramel, ripe fruits, mellow bitterness, and a bit of yeast, that is nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is lightly crisp at the start, smoother towards the finish.
2.9 decent beer. inconsistant. from a six pack 2 of the six were good. 4 were sour tasting
