The Half Cycle is so named due to its marriage of single and double IPA characteristics. In baseball parlance, a single and double is half of “the cycle”, and this IPA is a heavy hitter. It’s a single IPA, hopped like a double, with an over-the-top hop character that’s a bit spicy, citrusy, piney, you make the call. Light in color, but not on flavor, this big boy is dry hopped with a pound of high alpha American hops in every barrel. ABV: 6% IBU: 104.1

3.1355 ml bottle.
Pours hazy golden color with a large head. Lots of gooseberry bush on the aroma, faint cardboard notes and grapefruits, some hops are there though. Gooseberries and grapefruits on the flavor, way too much carbonation ..and cardboard..nation. Old, sadly.

2.7Pours red with a lot of head. High carbonation with bitter after taste. Not a great hop flavor.
2.0Opened the bottle and the majority of beer immediately turned into foam, poured it into 3 glasses to get it out of the bottle. About 15 minutes later it was starting to settle and I scooped out some of the foam so I could finally taste it. Well it was not worth the wait and mess, had a little citrus taste with mild hoppiness and was very over carbonated. It was like drinking a hoppy sprite.
3.6Light golden color. Nice head that holds and lacing. Plenty of hops though a bit too much carbonation on tap at the Louisville marriott
On tap at brewery. Really crisp bitter hops. Goes well with the Phillips sub
2.2Really overcarbonated. Tried to pour into glass and got nothing but foam. Tried to drink from bottle and the contents erupted into foam. Bad. Bottle has 1121 printed on it.
3.712oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
The Half Cycle IPA pours a mostly cloudy yellowish orange with a thin ivory head that doesn’t last too long. The aroma is loaded with hops! I can pick up citrus, favoring the orange, pine, a healthy dosage of caramel and even a bit of honey. The flavor is caramel up front, but that is quickly dominated by the citrus and pine hops, orange and bread. Overall this is a pretty nice beer.
2.812 oz Bottle. Appearance is clear, amber color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is heavy citrus and pine hops. Taste is way over the top bitter. Citrus grapefruit and pine dominant the taste that has little malt balance. Palate is medium-bodied, slick texture, and dry almost astringent finish. I’m a fan of hoppy beers but this one just felt like it was trying to be bitter for bitter sake -- no naunce whatsoever. Disappointing.
3.3Had on tap in Indy. White head, nice amber appearance. Citrus and pine aroma. For 100+ IBU I was expecting a bigger punch, must say a little disappointed but not a bad IPA.
2.7I wanted to like this. I hope I got a skunked one. Draft pour at high velocity in Indy. Bright orange cloudy with sticky white head. I knew from the dank skunky fruity aroma it wasn’t going to taste good. And it didn’t. Super bitter. Just tastes like bitter rotten fruit
2 days later - at flat 12 and having this again. Bartender did tell me it was off that night and it does taste better from tap here
3.4From notes. Tasted on 10/21/12 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear pale orange with an average white head that leaves average lace. The nose is very hoppy with tons of resin, citrus, grapefruit peel, and a touch of tropical fruit. The flavor is more simple with the grapefruit peel dominating, and it is difficult to detect much else but some bread malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long, bitter finish.
2.8Pour out of 16 oz can at the brewery, hazy yellow-orange pour with white head, aroma brought pine, grass, big spicy hops, lots of caramel as well with a hint of biscuit. Taste is a mix of orange, big caramel, toffee, hints of pine, touch of earth, some spice into a bitter finish. Eh, there is definitely a soapy quality to this.
2.6When I think of baseball, I do not think of Indiana. I get cheese in the nose. These are not the hops I was looking for. Bitter, yes. Not a treat for the close of this six pack. Let’s recap. two drain pours and two split 12oz beers. What a day! Hope the misses likes this!

Bottle: The aroma consists of light fruit, caramel, herbal and floral hops, soap, and a touch of lemon peel. It pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with an incredibly large head that never fades...in fact, it literally doesn’t stop growing for several minutes. Carbonation looks as though it will be incredibly lively as streams of tiny bubbles rise to the top almost like champagne. The flavor starts with some mild citrus with a hint of caramel. The finish has light-moderate floral and herbal hops, faint grapefruit, a touch of orange peel and soap. It’s medium bodied with surprising soft carbonation and mouthfeel. I really expected this to have a prickly mouthfeel. Overall, I’m generally not a big fan of herbal/floral IPA’s, so this doesn’t do much for me.
4.5Great tasting brew. This one goes down like a champ. It’s such a balanced and enjoyable IPA. Great looking, great tasting. Enjoy.
3.1Bottle: clear gold with small off-white head. Interesting aroma of wet grass, citrusy hops and a little pepper. Funky bitter hop almost like rue flavor. Thin finish and sulphuric aftertaste.
3.11st try from Flat 12 Bierwerks: Half Cycle is not bad, aggressive dry hopping is pronounced and not altogether pleasant--it’s okay, a bit one-dimensional. Overall, a decent first showing. 12oz bottle.
2.7Aroma: More herbaceous than citrusy; caramel tends toward toffee. Appearance: Light copper with a foamy white head that settled into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Urine up front; a little more malt sweetness after; lingering catty bitterness. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, very soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Just alright for me.
3.6Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have dank resiny hops, some citrus, a touch of spicy hops, moderate caramel malts, dry hop noticeable, moderate bitterness with good mouthfeel.
3.012oz brown bottle into a Spieglau IPA glass, thanks David Pole. It poured a hazy light amber with thick white foam, long-lasting with nice lace. Strong hoppy aromas: flowers, honey, caramel, cedar, grapefruit, black currant, cantalope melon. Flavour was nowhere near as good. Overwhelmingly bitter, coarse weediness almost to the point of harsh, not astrigent but getting there. Not enough malt complexity to break through. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, fairly well-concealed alcohol. This seems like the trendy type of bitter IPA from 10 years ago, but I prefer the modern emphasis on flavour and aroma.
2.6Pours a hazy orange yellow with a one finger white head. Aroma is sweet with a nice hoppy, grassy aroma on the nose. Taste is instant bitterness with a really bitter finish. To me, the hops are overpowering what could be a flavorful beer.
3.4Hazy orange pour with white head.Aroma is sweet lemon and hops. Taste follows nose. Too sweet for me, but still good.
3.212oz. Cloudy orange pour with white ring. Overly bitter hops. Not really my favorite style of IPA.
3.9Yeasty bready aroma with some cinnamon, herbs, and a touch of George Clinton. Starts out biscuity and then slams you with hoppy goodness......light to medium on the tongue with a dry finish. Loads of homebrew character......I will find this again!
2.916oz draft. This is a weak beer. Deep golden pour, very thin white head, only lasts around rim. Nose is all fresh peeled orange/lime. Flavors of fresh citrus, pine, and medium hops. Very light mouth feel, way too watery. Pass.
2.9Pint can. Pours yellowish amber. Aroma is big citrus peel, spicy yeast with an almost Belgian character, stone fruit, spicy and grassy hops, slight homebrew funk. Taste is oranges and spice, sweet malts, pine, lingering hop bitterness. Too malty for me but fans of hoppy ambers will like this.
3.2Bottle courtesy of bmoosey - pours dirty brown with a small head. I could tell pretty quick that it was going to have an earthy hop aroma and taste. Has a biscuit and nut taste to it. Medium slick mouthfeel. Not too dry.
3.2Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured an amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of pine and light citrus. The taste was of pine with a caramel backend and a medium body with medium bitterness. Nice.
3.6335ml bottle. Citrus fruits, pine, definitley on the dryer more bitterside. The ba version is fantastic.
3.1(can - 16 oz) Clear orange with a white head. Mild citrus and bitter hop aroma. Flavor is much the same. Very mild with a hint of citrus and a very lightly bitter finish.
3.1Bronzed body and a fluffy head. This one whips the nose with a sharp grapefruit aroma that veers catty at points. The body continues this pungence with grapefruit blasts and notes of overripe fruit that begin to grow distasteful, then recede and become more palatable. Waves of flavor. Acerbic finish.
