Flying Dog Dogtoberfest

Dogtoberfest is a unique beer containing five premium malts. This lager draws its influence from the Vienna Marzen or Oktoberfest style. It is rich and malty with a sweet aroma and deep mahogany color.

3.1 Deep amber orange brown with foamy lacy beige head Aroma is mild grain Flava is rich sweet malt notes of sugar Feels light with nice fizz Finishes sweet sugary
3.3 Fles 33cl thuis. Licht hoppig, zoettonen, rood fruit, fris. (1-2014).--------.
2.7 Bottle at whole foods. Unpoured. Scent is fairly basic marzen, lightly hopped. Taste is consistent landbier with light caramel properties. Finish is clean. Good, full bodied beer. Tastes somewhat of powder ingredients.
2.3 Reviewed in 2009- Now I remember why I stopped buying Flying Dog. This was given to me as a gift with a few others, this being the worst of the 4 so figured I'd try it first since I hadn't had this type of Flying Dog yet. Had a lighter brown/slight amber color. Very thin appearance and texture, not much carbonation or flavor going on. The aroma was sort of skunky, which was one of the first "tells" that I wouldn't care too much for this beer. Flavor was wheaty with caramel malts and honey. Sort of like a thinner-wheatier honey brown. Think I may be flying off the flying dog wagon right about now.
3.0 Nice honey smell to this. Initial taste is notes of honey quickly followed be a nice malty flavor with notes of biscuits and toast. I liked that they didn't go too sweet as some marzens do. Easy beer to drink and wouldn't feel to gross after a few of these.
3.1 I had it from the bottle. The aroma is caramel and bread. The taste is the same with herbal and earthy hints. It's pretty dry and easy to drink. This was a decent interpretation of the style. It doesn't really stand out. It was solid and enjoyable enough though.
2.9 Crystal clear, dark amber, small head. Aroma of honey, dark fruit, a bit of caramel. Taste is quite old, watery and close to unpleasant. Sweet focus. So-so
2.6 Bottle from Beers of the World. Aroma and taste seem like a pretty standard Marzen.
3.0 It pours amber and is fairly clear. It has an off white head with low head retention. The aromas are malty sweet with a bit of bread. There is a low fruity aroma as well. The initial flavor starts off sweet. There is a bready aspect to it with low herbal flavors. There is a low apple note as well. It has a medium body with moderate carbonation. Overall, it is malt forward with low hops. The finish is moderately dry to a slight fruity element to it.
3.1 sampled on Tap at pour house, reddish brown color with small to medium head. Notes of caramel malt, bread, dark fruit, and other sweetness. Medium bodied. Wouldn't order one but happy to tick a marzen...rarely drink them
3.3 A solid Oktoberfest. Big complex malty taste. Well-balanced. Sweet with notes of caramel. A bit to drinkable you could really kick these back
3.6 Dark murky amber color with a light beige head of fluffy foam. Caramel malt forward that is sweet and smooth. A bit slick and heavy for my liking.
Przygrywa im ciasteczkowa baza i sporo karmelu. W tle herbatniki i płatki owsiane. Lekkie, delikatne, do szybkiego wypicia.
2.8 Aromat trochę odbiera radość z tego piwa - dużo owocowych estrów, karmel, melanoidyna i bardzo szlachetna nuta masła orzechowego w tle. W smaku estrów mniej, więcej karmelu, chleba i lekkich nut orzechowych. Gdyby odstrzelić ten dżem byłby rasowy przedstawiciel stylu.
3.7 Bottle from Top Shelf Liquor. Aroma is caramel, earthy hops, toffee, bready. Appearance is amber brown, light tan head, slightly hazy. Taste is bready, caramel, earthy hops, malty, pretty tasty. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, caramel and earthy hop dry aftertaste. Overall, it’s actually pretty damn good, even if it doesn’t remind me of a typical Oktoberfest beer.
3.2 Originally rated on 1/18/2009. Mid amber body, not much carbonation, minute head. Aroma of caramel malts, and some hops. Flavor follows aroma with slight dry bitterness. A slightly above average marzen.
3.4 (Flying Dog Dogtoberfest) Bottle 355ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 5.6% Deep amber to light brown colour on the body, crystal clear, small and thin light beige head on top, low retention. Aroma of caramel, spices toffee. Taste of malts, toffee, caramel, light straw, spices, mildly bitter finish and aftertaste. Medium thin body, carbonation on good levels. Not bad at all.
3.3 35,5cl Bottle @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. Dark amber colour with white frothy head. Aroma is malt, caramel, yeast. Taste is malt, cereal, caramel, dark fruits. Medium body, soft carbonation. Dry finish.
2.0 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. W Niemczech powstają dużo lepsze Marzeny.
3.4 Clear dark amber color with beige head. Aroma has caramel, burnt sugar and some dried dates. Taste starts slightly sweet with caramelized sugar and some generic dried fruits. Finish is balanced out by some earthy bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation. Overall it’s a nice beer, not a classic marzen, and I like that.
3.6 Pours from bottle a beautiful copper color with a quickly disappearing head. A sweet malty nose and coffee, toffee, toast, caramel are what I get. A minimal background of hoppiness. A sweet and round palate with a fine finish. The sweetness is not something I am too fond of in a beer, but this is quite enjoyable and I could really pair this with a Polish or German sausage sandwich and feel quite happy indeed.
3.2 Bottle. Pours deep copper with a thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Nose of bread crust, caramel, and some spiciness. Bready malt with caramel and spicy bitterness.
3.8 From Labirratorium. In Teku glass. Playing Electronic Super Joy. Full of biscuit notes. Not as refreshing as typical german marzens but thicker and very pleasant too.
3.1 Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville. Pours reddish amber with a small head. Flavor is caramel malts, leaves, grasses. Kinda bland but totally drinkable.
3.7 Piękny bursztynowy kolor z drobnopęcherzykową pianką. Pachnie słodowo owocowo. Czuć też nuty chlebowe. W smaku piwo słodkie, przypomina landrynke. Smakuje również rodzynkow chlebowo. Piwo bardzo przyjemne i bardzo pijalne.
3.2 Aroma: Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel and bread. Appearance: Hazy/turbid dark orange/brown beer with a slight/medium Taste/Palate: Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts and caramel; ends slightly dry with bread. Overall: This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Only has malt flavours, which makes it very simple. Not my type of beer at all. At least the appearance is great.
3.3 Oranje koper kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt zoetig, mout, ijzer. Smaakt zoetig, karamel, mout.
3.4 12 oz. bottle. BBD 02.09.17. 5.6% ABV per the label, so a different recipe. Pours a medium, well retained dark ivory body,, over a clear copper (SRM 17) body........nose is toasted malts with biscuit, cracker, bread,j hints of toffee/caramel, no hops, balance to the malts......taste is mildly hints of sweetness to start, with light toffee/caramel tones, moderate toasted malts with Vienna, Munich tones, becoming dry with mild hop bitterness, balance to the malts.......mouth feel , light of medium body, no alcohol, light carbonation. This is slightly sweeter than typical for the style, but has appropriate malt complexity. It is not a favorite style of mine, but is nicely done. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7
3.4 Bottle from cerveteca lisboa, portugal. Color is dark orange to brown. Head is medium. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter. Aroma is malty, caramel, bubblegum, spices.
3.5 4 oz pour on draft at Owen’s Ordinary. Clear ruby amber with off-white head. Aromas of malt and caramel. Tastes of malt, caramel, dark fruit. Medium body with a dry finish.
