3.7 Bottle. Golden-amber with an average topping of foam. This is a really nice mandarin orange - citrusy beer. It stings the palate just a bit from sip one. It does add a bit of a dirty undertow. Very good. (#5589, 7/25/2014)
3.4 Tap at lures. Pours golden with white head. Aroma is slight sweet malt with big citrus and floral hops. Taste is full bodied with nice balance for a 10% beer, but nothing to bring me back
3.6 Draft at the Owl Farm. Pours orange with an off white head. Dank citric notes, almost like a bag of dirty oranges, light tropical fruity notes, and moderate bitterness. Not bad.
3.2 Very hazy yellow with a thin white head. Big lemony aroma. Bright lemony flavor crisp and lots of floral hops.
3.6 A very smooth single hop ipa. Not really fruity but very strong in alcohol. Pours orange in color am I had it ou I a bottle at home.
3.8 Very well put together. Very nice hop aroma and malt without being a boozy mess like many double ipas. Pours golden with OK head and lacing. Bitter finish. Lots of pine in this, some citrus and some shortbread cookie or something. Tap at meridian pint
3.9 On tap at whole foods in Tyson. Golden color with modest head, fragrant a bit on the sweet side with funky grapefruit flavors
3.7 Bottle from the De Molen Beershop. Poured hazy light amber with a whispy white head. The aroma is buttery creamy toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a smooth rich buttery malt alcoholic palate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Loved the beer, but where was the Citra?
3.6 Aroma of citrus fruits, tropical fruits, caramel, aromatic hops. Flavour is creamy caramel malts, strong citrus hops, with a bittersweet finish. The alcohol is hidden pretty well. Not very complex, but nice and quaffable.
3.6 Bottled, BB 18.04.14, large sample. Clear orange golden color, short lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of lots of caramelly malts, hint of raisin, cookie and biscuit, citrussy fruit, Citra gets almost buttery. Flavor starts with lots of fruity bitterness, but also full bodied like in a smoothie. Plenty of biscuity sweetness as well. In the end the alcohol kicks in and it leaves quite a burn in the throat. The imperial IPA features have retained pretty well, although the fresh hop notes are probably mostly gone. Body seems big enough to cope with the alcohol, but still it comes through quite massively, which is a small downside.
Heerlijk.
3.6 4 finger beige head that sank to 4 mm, amber body. Nose: Oranges, grapefruit, nuts, alcohol-sting and resin. Aroma: Grapefruit, alcohol-sting, oranges, madeira, nuts, figs, peach and resin. Long bitter ending.
3.7 Aroma: Smelling of bread, grape-fruit, pine, resin and hay. Appearance: A hazy amber colored beer. A off-white head with good lacing and good curtains. Taste: Tasting toffee, bread, grape-fruit, pine, resin and bitter peel. Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and oily texture. A big body with a very dry finish. Overall: A very hoppy DIPA Note: Bottle 355 ml at home. Reviewed 2014-01-15.
4.0 Shared bottle. Pours hazy dark straw with off-white head. Nose is heavy resiny and tropical fruity hops, malt, black peppery spicy. Tasted rich and complex on the palate, with a big tangerine, pineapple, and black peppery hop flavor, and a well balanced finish.
3.8 Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2013, Parsons Green, London in July 2013 - Hazy Orangey Gold in colour. Very Hoppy; resinous piney oily hops. Very Fruity; grapefruit citrus, some tropical fruits. Malty backbone; sweet malts, caramel. Quite bitter hoppy citric fruity throughout over sweet malts. Very drinkable. Nice Impy IPA!
3.8 Hazy yellow colour. Very intense aroma. Hoppy, citrusy, resinous. Texture is quite thick, carbonation low. Sticky sweet resin and fruity hops with lots of drying bitter notes.
3.5 Bottle. Hazy golden color with a medium thick foamy white head. Strong aroma of citrus, peach and grapefruit. Sugary and bitter taste of pine and caramel. Sticky feel. The alcohol is well hidden behind the bitter finish. -- via beerbasher/winphone
3.3 Hazy golden with remaining laces. Grassy aroma with some honey and onion. Fruity taste but dominated by the alcohol. Distinct bitterness is lasting.
3.4 Bottle sample at a tasting at tom’s place. Thanks zvikar. Cloudy amber with white ring, Some onion peel and green herbs in the nose, bitter and oniony in the mouth. Full body, long bitter finish.
3.9 Licht caramel kleurig bier. Licht witte schuimkraag die snel verdwijnt . Smaak is super zeer fruitig melon/ananas. Hoppig en een licht CO2.
3.8 355ml bottle. Appearance: A hazy deep gold, with a white head. Aroma: Hoppy, resiny, apricot, grapefruit peel, lavender, bergamot. and a bit of spices. Taste: Quite bittersweet, Hoppy, resin, with various citrus flavors and some appricot. lavender and spices. In addition the Alcohol fully boosts the palate but further but shows up a bit too much in the aftertaste. Medium to full bodied, creamy, medium carbonation.
3.9 Bottle from Systembolaget. Very fruity and hoppy with citrus. Similar taste, nice strong bitterness that didn’t last long. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel, slightly dry feeling in the finish. Nice beer, didn’t expect it to feel this fresh considering it is probably several months old.
3.8 355ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold, with a white head. Hoppy, resiny, quite spicy aroma, apricot, spruce, marmalade, grapefruit peel, light chocolate, lavender, bergamot. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Hoppy, resiny taste, bergamot, apricot, peach, lavender, spruce, citrus marmalade. Quite good, only drawback is that the alcohol burns through really sharp, and leaves a very harsh, bitter finish. (2013-11-19)
3.6 355ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Caramel malty aroma, piney hoppy overtones, bitter hop as well, some orange. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, cautious fruity hoppy overtones, some lemon, some orange, some pine, some bitterness. ’Single hop’ means neither rich nor deep or complex in this case.
4.0 Clear golden color with nice head. Grass and citrus in the aroma. Alot of sweetness and moderate bitterness comes forward. Nice balance.
4.0 Nice DIPA with a strong aroma of citrus, could not get that it was 10% out from the aroma at least. The citrus and tropical fruits continues in the taste, for those how like that this beer is really good.
3.5 Humle. Alkoholen skinernkanske igenom lite i smaken dock rätt bra döljd om man man tänker påmatr den är 10% och singel hop !
3.0 Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours tiny hazy golden with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small sticky trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and herbal with white bread, alcohol, grass, pine needles, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest, cereal, dry soil, lemony soap and hints of unripe tropical fruits and white pepper corns. Taste is bitter and herbal with white bread, crackers, alcohol, pine needles, resinous wood, grass, unripe tropical fruits, paint thinner, dried black currants, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest and orange peal. Mouthfeel is astringent, boozy, oily bitter, slightly sharply chemical and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter with white bread, crackers, pine needles, resinous wood, grapefruit rinds, alcohol, grass and soap. Unbalanced bitterness combined with way too much alcohol makes it a very unimpressive DIPA. I guess freshness is to blame a little here though...
