Flying Dog The Fear Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Flying Dog The Fear Imperial Pumpkin Ale

Why is there only one time of year – as goblins, ghouls, and ghosts frolic on front lawns – when we embrace THE FEAR? At all other times, THE FEAR dominates us, controls us, and prevents us from greatness. What is there to THE FEAR? Disagreement? Criticism? Humiliation? Whatever THE FEAR is that consumes you, embrace it, along with this Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Only then will the true artist in you rise up.

3.0 Bottle at a tasting. Clear amber, big head. Aroma of candy, esters and spices. Sweet, caramel, nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, alcohol. Medium-bodied.
3.5 De Labirratorium. En copa Teku. Jugando a Darksiders 2.
Fles @ Proefglas klein
4.5 Importing from Untappd
3.5 Botella de @Vivalabirra, Oviedo. 31/10/2020 Color ambar oscuro, corona de espuma blanca, aromas espediados,, sabor especiado, clavo, dulce, cuerpo medio.
3.7 Nice dark brown with a white head. Surprised there is little aroma. Tastes a little sour- pumpkin, carrot, cloves, and allspice. Finishes with a nice warmth. Very smooth.
3.8 33cl bottle. Taste of Carrott cake more then pumpkins. It's still a good beer
3.2 Aroma with spices, a little pumpkin. Dark beer with brown foam around the edges of the glass. The taste is dominated by bitterness from burning malt, alcohol is well felt. The body is dense and smooth, carbonation is small.
3.6 35,5cl Bottle @ BierPost.com Onlineshop, Wildberg, Germany. Dark brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma is pumpkin, spices. Taste is pumpkin, sweet, spices, hints of alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation.
1.6 Really tough to even sample this due to the mega attack of awful spices. Nutmeg and cinnamon to name just a few. Unbearable. Cough syrup.
3.5 33cl fles. Helder donker robijnrood van kleur. Middelfijne romige creme schuimkraag. De geur is pompoen en karamel. Smaak is zoet, pompoen, karamel en kruidig. Medium body en veel koolzuur.
4.0 From Gabriele; very earthly bitterness
3.9 01-12-2019; bottle; at home (bought Bier&Zo, Rotterdam, The Netherlands). The looks of the beer are very nice. The beer is quite dark. It has a lovely dark cherry red colour, with an amazing red glow. I haven't seen a Pumpkin Ale that was so dark. It looks nice. It seems to be filtered clear. On top there is some frothy brownish foam. Foam retention is low. A very thin drape is left on the beer. Nice lacing is left on the glass. It looks very nice. The aroma of the beer is nice too. It is a typical Pumpkin Ale. Nice sweet pumpkin aromas fill the nose. Some roasted pumpkin notes give some caramel aromas. The pumpkin spice gives these lovely warming spicy aromas. With some hints of cinnamon, clove and anise it has those typical autumn-winter aromas. Perfectly balanced with the pumpkin aromas. Some herbal hops are there, being a perfect addition to the pumpkin aromas. Very well done. The strong alcohol gives the beer a very nice alcohol sweetness, propelling the other aromas. Nice. The taste of the beer is nice. It is quite sweet. Pumpkin, caramel notes and the alcohol give lovely sweets. The bitterness of the hops and also that of the spices gives lovely balance to the sweetness. The result is a very well balanced beer. The spices and pumpkin don't overwhelm. The palate of the beer is nice. Medium body, smooth texture and rather low carbonation. The alcohol and some of the spices give some tingle where the carbonation is low. The finish has nice spices in it, but maybe a bit to much bitter spices. It tends to be a bit bitter. But, apart form that it is a very nice Pumpkin Ale. Great one.
3.6 This is strong for the style and similar to a big porter or stout. Dark pour with a good sized head. The aroma is fairly mild. The spicing is light and the pumpkin is hidden. It is a strong brew with dashes of clove and ginger. It also presents brown bread, molasses, coffee, and a warm tingle on the palate. A good big beer but a little off target for the style.
3.7 10/11/19 With A & little bit watching Florida @ LSU Nose is warm and roasty pumpkin spice. Taste is smooth and spicy. Kinda dry and a bit astringent. Good but not up to the nose. Overall, tasty hut jot as good as I hoped for a great brewery and one of my favorite styles.
3.4 Dunkelmalziger Beginn, angenehme Röstnoten, geringe bis keine Süße. Zunehmender Alkohol bei mildem Schokoladenaroma, etwas Marzipan. Kürbis, nur wenig kräutrig. Langer, dunkel malziger Abgang mit trockenem Mundgefühl. 10/11/10/11/12/11
3.5 10 ounce sniffer glass at Flying Dog Brewing Company at Frederick, Maryland. Slight hint of spices. Very dark brown with very little white head. Taste the nutmeg and cinnamon. Medium bodied with some alcohol taste. Spices linger. Nice beer to sip on. Cheers!
3.2 Clear dark brown colour with a little white head. Malty, spicy, sweetish, pumpkin, dry, perfume, low carbonation.
3.5 Auburn in color with a creamy, tan crown. Aroma is full of clove with undertones of vanilla, cherry and boiled pumpkin. Taste has a herbal spiciness and stays lightly bitter throughout with a typical pumpkin pie mixture (nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon) dominating the finish. Medium body though slightly watery texture. Probably more enticing on a cool October evening than outside on a warm day in June.
3.5 Very dark brown, reddish when exposed to light. Dirty white head, almost clear brown. Soft carbonation visually. Oily texture with little fizz. I need more body. Aroma is sweet pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. The same in mouth. Spices and pumpkin. Sweet. Little bitterness at the end with pumpkin and spicy notes. Alcohol well integrated. Maybe a bit boring/saturating after the second sip but it's well done.
4.1 AR: Ingwer, Zimt, Cola, Dörrobst, Röstmalz, AP: klares rubinrot TA: Gewürz, Ingwer, Zimt, Cola, Röstmalz, Bourbon Gewürze schön dezent, nicht alles überlagernd.
3.7 Draft Tasting glass @ BeerTemple. Dark brown amber, mocha head. Nose is sweet pumpkin pie filling doughy and bready with sugar. Basic taste sweet pumpkin pie filling sugar, basic doughy sweet raw sugar, clove caramel, lacks a bit body. Not great but decent.
3.5 Bottle at Water & Brood. Dark amber with white head. Sweet malts, caramel, curcuma, ginger, cinnamon. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation.
3.7 Bottle shared. Clear mahogany with beige head. Cinnamon, cloves, ginger, kurkuma, bitter herbs, caramel, ginger, cola, light bread, old wood, toast, toffee. Over medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied.
3.7 On tap at Old Line Bistro,Beltsville MD. This beer pours a very dark brown with a minimal head. The aroma is predicatbly intense, with lots of cinnamon, allspice, clove, and nutmeg, with hints of banana bread, dates, and brown sugar. The flavor is dense but not very strong at first, with notes of dates and baked banana, then a strong wave of spice hits, with a huge wave of clove, allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon, becoming more fragrant a it warms. The mouthfeel is fairly full with soft, minor carbonation. Overall this is a solid if not exceptional spiced beer - the spice is present and tasty, but not well integrated, and the beer good but not great,.
3.5 Bottle: Deep chestnut-amber coloured, medium-sized, lacy, slowly collapsing creamy off-white head, moderate to distinctive sweet-bitter toasty nose with a certain illusion of (sour-dough-) bread, some dried fruits presumably underneath; moderate to solid drier bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, no doubt, a bit tart; lingering dryish (medical-)bitter finish with toasted malt and dried fruits, illusions of cough-syrup in the warming aftertaste. Could be better rounded, but all in all much better than expected...;-)
