3.8 Bottle 33 cl. Black with a nice lightbrown head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate and dark fruits. Nice roasted taste with cocolate-fruity ending. Full bodied and creamy, very nice.
3.5 Black colour with very low head. Aroma is smoky with some chocolate notes. Smoked and roasted malt is felt in the taste and some caffe and chocolate. in the end it goes to a roasted malt bitterness.
3.8 355 ml bottle. Rated on 20101213. Black color. Aroma of smoke and malts. Flavor of roasted malts, ripe fruits and smoky ham. 5425
3.8 Totally black beer with beige head. Aroma is smoke. Taste is smoke. Nice body and carbonation. I’d really drink this next to any campfie!
3.9 The beer in the glass is deep black, opaque, and there is hardly any foam. Smells strong like roasted malts, coffee and licorice, with a slight smokey body. It starts surprisingly smokey, slightly sweet and malty, with some chocolate and roasted coffee. In the middle part, the smoke flavor is more intense, the chocolate flavor goes back a bit, the roasted coffee note remains constant. Goes into a finish of roasted malts, coffee and lots of smoke!
3.9 Bottle @ Dan’s. Deep brown appearance with a tan head. Rich chocolate malty, moderately smoky, dark caramel aroma. Rich caramel, fairly smoky, buckeye malty, light earthy hoppy flavor. Nice beer.
3.6 Bottle 355ml @ home Pours deep brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of chocolate and smoke. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.6 (Bottle) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma is dark bread malty with light to medium roasted and smoky notes. Caramel, chocolate, liquorice, and herbal hops in the background. As the beer gets warmer the smoke get more aggressive. A whisper of violet. Quite “sweetish” on the nose. The flavor is light grassy bitter with a medium, artificial sweetness. Tones of caramel, liquorice, salt, smoke, dark bread and herbs. The mouthfeel is soft with a medium carbonation. Sweet finish with some smoke, liquorice and soft hops. Medium bodied.
3.4 Black, brown head. Aroma is very roasted and caramelly with liqourice and herbal medicinal hops. Some smoke. Flavour is quite a drop after delicious aroma. Some metally taste. Alcohol taste, not in a good way.
3.8 From a 355ml bottle on 28/12/2011. Pours close to black with a medium head. Smells of smoky bacon rings and barbecue sauce. The flavours are mild roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and smoke. Has a medium to full body and modest carbonation. Quite sweet, but nicely put together and very enjoyable.
2.7 Bottle from BierZwerg, by 22.01.12. Nose is smoke (outside grilling and cigarette, not really meaty, though) and roast, some chocolate and an interesting mix of shag carpet and grandma’s toy closet (wood and certain fibers, I guess? Makes sense to me). Body is dark ruby with a fizzy light brown head. Taste is roasty with some ash, sweet (with some sweetener) with some metal and a ton of tar, floral and earthy with some cigar smoke emerging at the end into the ashen aftertaste. Lightly sour medium body. Just a hard roast, hard bop deal that’s hard to get into, minerally coffee and an ill-chosen recipe. Does have some interesting pine and juniper needle tones, but they’re out of place here. Not really a fan.
4.1 Bottle shared by motortoddhead. Deep brown with fluffy brown head. Salty smoked meats, light cocoa powder, mild coffee. Very smooth roasted malts, coffee flavor followed by a a light smokiness at the end. Ultra-clean on the palate with gentle lingering roast. No one element overwhelming, nearly perfectly melded flavors.
3.8 33cl bottle. Poured a black beer with minimal beige head that quickly diminishes. Aroma is to toasted malts, roasted, wood. Flavour is toasty with some sweet hints in the beginning, spicy and with a smoke and burnt final. Carbonation is soft. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.
3.8 35,5 cl bottle @ home, BBE 22.01.2012 Aroma is rather roasty, feels even a bit like an imperial stout. Some cocoa, hints of metal and smoke. Flavour has roastiness, cocoa, hints of smoke and metalliness. Creamy and smooth palate. An imperial stout with some smoke aroma – does not feel much like lager.
3.4 355 ml bottle. BBE 20.01.2012. Pours a dark brown colour with a small dark beige head. Aroma of smoked wood, licorice, soy sauce and toffee. Flavour of roasted malts, licorice, soy sauce, smoked wood and salt. Medium bodied, somewhat sticky mouthfeel and a warming finish with some smoke and roastiness. I like the smokiness here, but the salty notes sort of ruin this.
3.2 355 ml bottle. From bierzwerg.de. Schwarz colour with small dark tan head. Smoke, liquorice and malt in aroma. Flavour is smoke, roasted malt and mild alcohol. Thinnish. No noticeable aftertaste. Quite enjoyable but not much in common with German Schwarzbier.
4.4 Bottle. Color black with medium head. Aroma coffee, smoke, roasted, hop, alcohol. Taste sweet, smoke, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, hop.
3.0 reviews # 2700...bottle... pours a surprising dark black, glassy, a medium tan head, lasting, looks good... the nose is really smokey and roasty, a strong molasses note that is too sweet and just off, a bit of black licorice too, like the roast but weird overall... underwhelming taste, all the nice roast of the nose is dumbed down, overly sweet, more molasses... ok
3.7 Sampled at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2011. September 3, 2011 Big roasted aromas with some tar, smoke and caramel. The taste is quite sweet with more smoky elements. There syrupy sweet side to it as well but it never takes over. Great schwartz!

3.7 Bottle at home from Great Grog. Pours a thick black, small brown head. Aroma is of smokey roastiness, almost bacon-y. Taste is wonderful - smoke, a little bacon, some tar, a bit of alcohol. Very nicely balanced, not over the top on any level. Quite understated, but lovely.
3.5 Some ham, some tar and a nice roast character on the end. Crisp, refreshing and very balanced.
3.6 750ml from Beerman6686. Roasted earthy moss and malt, basement mold, caramel, cocoa, campfire bacon throughout. Balanced creamy roasted malt, slight sweetness, cola, bacon smoke, cola and lots of earthy undertones. Not a overly smoked beer, but really nice to drink.
3.5 Nose is nice and smokey, bbq, somewhat musty with a little green musty notes. Interesting. Pours dark brown, no head or lace. Smokey with light roast, bacon, bbq, salty notes, a little musty mildew notes A little alcohol in the finsih. Lightly carbonated. Not bad.
3.6 Bottle pours dark brown with medium light brown head. Aroma smoky bacon and roast. Taste caramel, roast, slight peat, chocolate and smoke. Finish slightly prolonged with smoke. Palate a bit thin with moderate carbonation. Alcohol not apparent. Smoke is well integrated into the flavor and not overwhelming. I’m not a big smoke fan but this is well done.
3.5 Smokey bacon and chocolate on the nose it has a creamy texture, gentle smoke and finishes on a golden syrup note. It uses cascade for the aroma hops and perle for bittering.
3.3 Tap @ Coles. Black, deep tan head. Nose is deep roast, iodiney smoke, honey, candied dark fruits. A bit restrained. Flavor is caramel, a touch of peat in nice smoke, dark chocolate, cherry pits, rOast. Very nice smoked Baltic porter characteristics.
4.1 Black beer with a medium and brown head. Aroma is very enjoyable, tar, some smoke and smoked ham. Full bodied, smooth carbonation, very pleasant to drink. Taste is roasted, some smoke and hint of alcohol. Palate is amazing, also great aroma, but taste is quite smilpe because roastiness steals the main role and tar and ham have to settle for walk-on. Anyway, very tastefull and great smoked beer.
3.5 Bottle. Black with a small head.its appearance for some reason took me by surprise.Slightly smoked and more like a stout than I had anticipated. Different but not very exciting.
3.0 Jet black pour with the most minimalist head. Aromas of roasted malts, smoke, minerals and black pepper. Other than that not much going on, which makes the smoke seem a tad medicinal. Flavour almost delivers with dark fruits, smoke and more black pepper before a tart astringency and puckering tannins wash out the finish. Watery mouthfeel didn’t help. Could have been great but the few flaws really stand out and ruin the complexities and drinkability.
