Flying Fish Grand Cru Winter Reserve

Flying Fish Grand Cru Winter Reserve

This Belgian-style strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness and clove (although there is no fruit or spice in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. It is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

3.5 Gainesville, Fl - Total Wine & More - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling, medium golden pour, quickly fading light bubbly off-white head; nice bubble action. Sweet, fruity aroma, hints of banana and a hint of saffron spice. Solid Belgian flavor, some pear fruitiness, light bubble gum action, some yeasty notes in the back end. Thick mouthfeel with a nice spritz to it.
3.3 I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours golden with a white head and lacing. The aroma is fruit and spice. The taste is banana, spice, and earthiness. It’s prickly and flavorful. This is pretty decent.
3.4 Slightly hazy copper-colored beer with a medium fizzy bright white head. Somewhat sour nose of lemon, clove, and rice wine vinegar. Flavor is not quite as sour and spicy, and is actually more on the sweet side with prominent kandi sugar, sweet cereal grain, and pear followed by a rather dry bitterness that ends quickly, Good beer in the Belgian style.
3.4 Pours a nice golden color with white lacing. Sweet, floral aroma. Nice flavor of sweet fruits: plum and grape. Pleasant finish. It could use a little more of something to make it stand out but overall very nice
3.4 Bottle from Parkway Corner (Philadelphia). Hazy golden body with slight head. Nose is sweet, floral, honey and grapes. Quite nice. Taste is sweet, plums, grapes. Really prickly like a sparkling wine. Crisp texture. Enjoyable.
3.1 I was hoping for a more interesting beer, it was not bad but with the name and price I was expecting a bigger and bolder combination.
3.2 Bottle to shaker glass, pours almost clear straw yellow. One finger quick white head, no lacing, no retention, Aroma banana and Belgian yeast. Taste is moderately sweet, slightly bitter with typical Belgian sourness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, slick mouth feel. Finishes dry. Tasting notes of banana, pink peppercorns, coriander, esters, barnyard and herbs. Not a bad beer but feels more summer than winter to me.
3.3 slight malt aroma, golden in color and clear with little head. taste is mostly malty, strong hints of lighter caramel malts.
3.2 Decent. Pours gold with a white head. Banana notes on nose. Medium body. Easy drinking brew.
2.7 Pours gold with little, white head that doesn’t hold well; banana esters on the nose; medicinal smooth finish. Mild and uninspiring.
3.3 Bready yeast spice aroma, noble spice hop, corriander. Pleasant Pours a hazy golden color with small wispy white head Bready yeasty spice flavor, corriander. Medium full bodied with medium co2, lingering yeasty finish. Enjoyable beer. Good intro Belgian style beer. Easy to drink.
3.5 Pours golden orange with a one finger white head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of Belgian yeast, fruity ethers, bready malts, candied fruits, and some light citrus. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, slightly dry, medium finish. Overall, a decent Belgian ale that might be lacking in body a little.

3.1 Not exciting, but easy to drink. I can’t say that it fits as highly as the name implies, but the style is close enough to say, go ahead and drink it. Slight Belgium flavors of yeasty malts. Bottle

3.5 Nice Belgian ale. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat, almost reminds you of a hefeweizen, but with typical Belgian yeast flavor and Belgian sugar sweetness with a dry finish.
