Flying Monkeys The Chocolate Manifesto

Flying Monkeys The Chocolate Manifesto

Triple Chocolate Milk Stout
Three strata of raw cacao nibs, cacao powder, and chocolate malt layer a triple doozie of chocolate in this unique Milk Stout. Earthy espresso notes and creamy chocolate dominate this ruby-lit, burnt umber bodied beer simmering with a welcoming 10% ABV of bittersweet warmth.

4.2 Llauna tenda on-line Cerveceo. Aroma a xocolata, boca igual, amb presència de malta torrada i cafè, incrementant-se a mesura que s atempera la cervesa. Sedosa, bon cos, 10 graus imperceptibles. Deliciosa
3.4 Can 47,3 cl, poured into a tulip glass. Pours pitch black with a small but fading tan head and an aroma of hot chocolate, cocoa, sweet malts and coffee. The taste is heavy sweet with a full body and a medium lasting chocolatey sweet finish
4.0 Bottle, 473ml. Pours black with a frothy head at first, which dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is crazy chocolate milk, cacao, dark malts. Lactose. Big body. Smooth, creamy, chocolate and cacao abound. Definitely intense chocolate. Really nice. Very much an old school chocolate stout.
3.1 473mL bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate, roast, slight espresso, and a hint of nuttiness. Taste is chocolate, licorice, coffee, and a little hazelnut. Some chocolate bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily-viscous mouthfeel.
4.2 Explosive and three-dimensional chocolate aroma Dark body Intense taste of chocolate in the mouth Silky texture
4.0 One of Canadian Flying Monkeys' most notable (and feted) beers, a full-blown pastry stout "avant la lettre" (the term pastry stout was only introduced in 2017 but this beer first hit the market four years earlier), from a 50 cl bottle coming from a brightly coloured cardboard box. Many thanks to Craftmember for sharing this semi-legend. Medium thick, creamy, mocha beige head stabilizing in a mousy ring and grey 'veils' in the middle, very dark chocolate brown robe approaching black, but still with reddish-glowing burgundy hue. Aroma of indeed chocolate - and an immense amount of it, in a more 'pure' and overwhelming way than I think I ever had: 'chocoladejenever', melting milk chocolate bars, Belgian chocolates and - strongly so - that dusty old Nesquik cocoa powder I remember from childhood, next to much more subtle impressions of latté macchiato, brown honey, nougat, pecan nut pie, brandy, hazelnut purée, ripe pear. Sweet onset, candied dates, clean and softly carbonated, with very full and creamy mouthfeel; a coating of chocolate sauce, Nutella hazelnut paste and Nesquik cocoa powder covers the mouth lining, with a sweet-nutty and inherently chocolatey maltiness underneath - the malts and the added chocolate flavours really flow into one another here and are hard to tell apart, which I think makes this a very successful pastry stout as in lesser examples this is not always the case. Chocolate 'moelleux' but also toffeeish and nutty effects till deep into the finish, where a brandy-like alcohol glow rises up, thinning the chocolate effect until only the caramelliness of the malts remains. Wow, this is chocolate stout to the extreme indeed - I still love the concept, which far predates the 'pastry stout' moniker (see also Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout and Rogue's Chocolate Stout in the United States or Young's Double Chocolate Stout in Britain), and I cannot deny that this one put an instant smile on my face. It is decadent, a bit of a one-trick pony even, but it delivers what it promises - abundantly. It is not difficult to see how this became Flying Monkeys' best known beer.
4.1 Chocolate aromas for nose. Full body, silky , texture, intense flavors, low carbonation and moderate heat despite 10% a/v measures, lingering aftertaste, tasty, bittersweet finish. Bittersweet, balanced, crisp. Chocolate, coffee, Delicious stout.
4.0 Delicious milk chocolate taste with smooth finish. Would purchase again.
3.5 Aroma: Roasted sweet malt with chocolate and coffee. Flavour: Sweet roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste is sweet roasted malt. Colour: Black with a brown head. 17/4-2018
4.2 Lovely chocolate milk flavour with similar depth to an old style milkshake. This one was an absolute surprise and I will be seeking more. Delicious! By far my favourite Flying Monkey brew yet.
3.9 Well, it makes good on its promise. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. A little sweet and sour simultaneously for my tastes, but it certainly makes a fine dessert beer. Very active brown head, thick brown-black pour, nice thickness to the brew itself, mouthfeel is pleasantly thick and silky. Flavor is chocolate and sour mash, aroma is intensely, powerfully chocolate. All in all I'm not sure I'd go for it again unless I wanted a dessert beer, and that sour tang isn't quite balanced enough for me to be super-excited about it, but I wouldn't turn it down if it was offered to me.
3.6 Bottle from Total Wine: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, with a hefty berry fruitiness, a bit roasty. Taste is old school. Hefty cocoa, but the berry notes are hard not to notice. I wonder where they come from. I was not very impressed.
4.1 2021/01/07 - Pours a nearly black, dark brown cola colour with a thin, light tan head that quickly dissipates and leaves no lacing. Aroma is straight up chocolate cake icing; milk chocolate, cocoa powder and chocolate malt. Taste follows nose with little to no sign of ABV. Mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation and a long, moderately sweet finish. I feel like the mouthfeel could have been a little more full and sticky, but this is dangerously good.
4.2 0,473l bottle from Alko. BBE 25.10.2023. Oily black beer with creamy and quite stable light brown head. Aroma has massive amount of cocoa and milk chocolate with some hazelnuts. Flavor has cocoa and chocolate too, but no so much. Some dry coffee notes and hazelnuts too. Very good, sweet, delicious and tasty.
4.0 Pitch black with creamy tan head which stays long. Very strong aroma of cacao powder. Taste is swee with slight roasty malt combined with chocolate and lingering hops. Full body, average carbonation. Wow just amazing chocolate delicacy
3.6 (Bottle) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate (lots of it), toffee, treacle, vanilla and coffee. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with notes of chocolate, cacao, toffee, vanilla, milky coffee, treacle, cherries in brandy and a sweet finish with fairly low bitterness. Almost full body, really sweet. Quite tasty, with ridiculous amounts of chocolate, but probably a bit too sweet and almost cloying. Still, nice one.
4.0 Bottle @ Joops hotel, Haarlem. Pitch black, big foamy beige head. Lots of chocolate, ganache, bitter cacao, coffee, hoppy, medium bitter. Good body, soft mouthfeel, low carbonation.
3.9 0,43l bottle from Alko, shared @ Oulunkylä. Pours very dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with milk chocolate. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, slightly sour milk chocolate, hops. Quite nice.
3.8 Aroma is milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla and lactose. Taste is a viscous, deep chocolate beer that is almost a syrup in profile to be honest. A slow sipper.
3.9 473 ml (pint) bottle, pours opaque black with modest tan head. Full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Cocoa and malt aroma, sweet chocolate heavy on the lactose taste. Sweet finish, only a little boozy. The beer is overly sweet, a touch cloying at the finish.
3.7 Bottle from Alko shared. Aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa powder, lactose, caramel, roasted malts, coffee, alcohol. Heavily sweet and tense taste. Full body.
4.3 Lots and lots of chocolate, like promised. More of a milky sweet chocolate than dark bitter. Nice and very drinkable for its abv
3.4 Bottle from Alko. Poured pitch black with a creamy off white head. Massive amount of cocoa and chocolate. Enough sweetness to get you diabetes. Long cocoa finish. Full bodied, milky sweet chocolate pudding. OK in small doses.
4.2 Bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a large light beige head. Strong milk chocolate aroma, supporting light spice notes. Mild spice hops up front, sweet milk chocolate, hints of caramel. Slight alcohol warmth, but hides the ABV well. Very nice.
4.7 473 ml bottle. Pours black with beige head. Aroma cocoa nibs, chocolate and vanilla. Bitter chocolate flavor mixed with cocoa powder and a lightly sweet note.
3.9 Incredibly sweet chocolate in the scent. Much taste of chocolate with a little bit of bitter. Okay bitterness that fills your mouth for eternity. Good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
3.4 Bottle 473ml (Alko web) Opaque colour, small steady beige head. Nose is very strong: cocoa, cocoa power, dark chocolate, even wood and cardboard. Full-bodied. Dark chocolate and cocoa mostly dominate. Robust with soft palate. Good but I could blame it is quite one-dimensional.
3.9 Oiky, black colour with a creamy tan head. Heavy cocoa aroma, dark malt, bourbon. Medium body, low carbonation, slick mouthfeel.
1.5 demasiado sabor a chocolate. Es como tomarse un batido.
3.8 Bottle 473ml at home. From Beerdome. Pours dark brown with beige head. Flavor has lots of chocolate, dark malts, cocoa, vanilla, sugar. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, sweet finish.
