3.7 Poured from bottle. Aroma of chocolate ice cream. Appearance is stout black with lacing. Tasting cocoa, cola, licorice, coffee/toffee, caramel. a trace of hops. Palate is fairly balanced, a bit sour at the end. . Overall, a good choice for porter. Try the barrel aged one if you can.
3.5 Draft pour at vault..good price pt on this..aroma is cocoa..nestle quick..light bodied fairly clean porter that is a good representation of the style
3.6 12 oz. bottle from singles shelf of Harris Teeter. Date must have rubbed off. A: Rough pour yields an inch of tan head atop a practically black body. Very good retention and streaks of lace. S: Herbal/floral hops against brown toasted bread and a slight hint of roast. T: Bitter chocolate dominates. Light sweetness rounds out the flavor. Faint raisin. M: Smooth and slick with a good bit of carbonation. Bitter resin finish. O: Nice easy drinking porter. Good taste and body. Available and well priced. Recommended.
2.9 Bottle, with a big black pour. In this description it says ruby red but let me tell you, its big and black. First taste is perhaps a little too much personality, then it starts to grow on you. Yes, gets a little more friendly with its burnt dark beer attitude. Malty, perhaps some aspects of super dark bitter chocolate. Perhaps even a tad of black strong coffee but you couldn’t say its a coffee beer. Yes, in the end a]its a pretty even handed porter that never really treads into baltic porter territory, just a good even handed porter that wants to kick you in the ass and be large and in charge but never quite gets there. Even handed and enjoyable.
3.4 Pour is a near black with a large tan head. Aroma is a rich roasted malt without being over the top and I also get some chocolate and ever so slight coffee. Flavor is more of the same with a nice roasted malt with some bitter bakers chocolate. Pretty solid everyday porter. Decent flavor without being an over the top attempt.
3.3 On tap at P&P Charleston. Translucent dark brow with medium beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, medium body, medium carbonation, and pretty good lacing. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, and a little caramel.
3.7 4/17/16. 12oz bottle from Craft on Draft. Wow, I wonder how many times I have skipped this one figuring I had already rated it. Good beer, too, so a shame to boot! Black pour under a small tan head, good lacing. Light aroma, touches of chocolate, dry dark malts, cream and light caramel. Great flavor, smooth as all hell, milk chocolate, cream, just a touch of roasted malts and dryness. Balanced, not too bitter, and quite tasty.
3.6 22oz botte. Poured a near black color with an off white head. Roast, caramel, some vanilla, and some coffee.
3.6 Bottle from Whole Foods Arlington. Dark brown body with mocha head. Nose is caramel, chocolate and coffee. Taste is also coffee and chocolate and quite nice. Good stuff really all around. Creamy texture. Very smooth, with nice espresso in the finish - Porter to the People!
3.5 Not the richest of porters but there’s a nice cocoa and very light roast that make it a solid porter.
3.5 12 oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a nice white head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, light hops. Full bodied, very nice.
3.3 Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma is nutty with Java and dark fruits. Flavor is very smoky with plenty of creamy Java action. Get it on.
3.8 Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a half-inch, dark beige foam cap. Smell: Heavy on the roast, cocoa and chewy caramel backed with a soft, subtle fruitiness. Taste: Bitterish flavor of cocoa powder and roasted malt with a vein of dark caramel sweetness. Slightly nutty. A touch of hop bitterness. Earthy, espresso-y taste. PP finishes out fairly bitterish and roasty. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Decent, drinkable.
4.0 Draft. Big chocolate aroma, big chocolate flavors with a hint of an espresso chaser, maybe a bit of vanilla too. Nothing subtle about this!
3.9 Aroma is roasted chocolate and vanilla with slightly bitter malts in the body. Slightly vanilla aftertaste as well.
4.2 Classic porter style. Heavy roasted and mildly bitter. Chocolate notes. Not hoppy. Darker than most. Pours with small head. Creamy and smooth. Very drinkable for one or more in a night. Draft and bottle.
3.9 undated 650 ml bomber bottle (nice label) served in a snifter (from notes). A: The beer is clear, but a very dark reddish-brown. It poured with a small tan head that reduced to little more than a ring but left spotty lacing down the sides of the glass. S: Moderate level of dark malts with hints of coffee, chocolate and molasses in the nose. Very slight metallic/astringent component initially, but this disappeared after warming/airing. T: Dominated by dark roasted malts, the rich flavor has some light spice and bitterness from the hops. Some mild coffee appears in the slightly earthy finish and long-lasting aftertaste. M: Medium-body leaning towards full; Moderate level of carbonation; Near creamy smooth; Slight dryness in finish. O: A flavorful, roasty porter which, after warming at least, has none of the flaws found too often in porters (e.g., too smokey; burnt notes). More complex and satisfying than most porters, this is an excellent example of an Amer./English porter.
3.5 Pours dark brown nearly black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roast coffee. Taste is also coffee with mild hints of dark chocolate, slight bitterness. Smooth with a full body and creamy mouth feel.
3.9 Pours black with a khaki head. Aroma is earthy, dark chocolate, roast and hints of vanilla. Taste is bittersweet. Medium bodied, slick texture and an overall excellent porter.
3.6 Sample at the "Drink Moar Beer!" tasting on 06/12/2015: The beer is a dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a wispy film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and mild hops. Light-bodied with flavors of toasty malt, sweet chocolate and slighty earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
3.0 Draft, Closed For Business, Charleston. Head is small, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain), with a light note of vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation. Dull and simple but drinkable.
3.5 Bottle at home thanks to Brad! Pours a dark cola color with thick long lasting white head. Aroma is cocoa, toffee, faint coffee and toast. Taste is coffee, faint bitter chocolate, and hints of sweet caramel / toffee. Medium body, thin mouthfeel, high carbonation. Nice flavor in this porter.

3.6 Old rating. Solid porter. Dark brown pour. Roasted, nutty, chocolatey. Good creamy mouthfeel. No complaints.
2.8 Bottle. Light chocolate and nut aroma. Flavor is the same with a sort of sour twist. Not great.
3.5 12 oz. bottle shared by Willrunforbeer, much thanks. Aroma is earth English malts showing a light coffee and chocolate tones. Body is fuller for the style with a lingering earthy bitterness. The texture is drying on the tongue with a nice level of hops. Nice hop profile.
3.8 Bottle from a locals trade with ygbtsm94. Thanks, Brad! Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is molasses, raisin, chocolate. Taste is chocolate and raisin underneath, with bakers chocolate and coffee bitterness. Good mouthfeel for a porter.
3.8 3/12/2015. 22 oz. bottle. Roasted malt aromas, hints of chocolate. Bitter flavors with light coffee. Long bitter finish.
3.6 Rating from notes. I have had this on tap in Asheville and most recently from a bottle. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have some roasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, earthy notes, a splash of coffee, some bitterness to the finish, medium body, decent porter.
4.0 Pours black in the glass with a touch of red when held up to the light. Mocha and a hint of caramel in the nose. Lots of coffee flavors with a hint of cream in the aftertaste. Overall, very nice...
