A cocoa infused Imperial Stout that’s been carefully aged in bourbon barrels. Opaque black in color with a dark brown head. Big chocolate aroma with notes of espresso, blackstrap molasses, dark sweet toffee and dark fruit. Barrel aging adds heady notes of vanilla and bourbon.

3.8July 22, 2016. Bottle, shared by linusb.
Black with a medium sized dense brown head Aroma is fruity, malty and floral with some red berries, wood, toffee, notes of bourbon, notes of chocolate.
Taste is sweet with toffee and aspberries, some floral notes, smooth finish with a touch of bourbon, vanilla and raspberries. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.
3.8Bottle at TradeBookCon#4 160722. Opaque black beer with anice beige/brownish head. Roasted chocolate aroma, licorice, cocoa powder, fruity notes, some coffee. Roasted cocoa powder flavor, coffee, chocolate, fruity notes, some dark chocolate. Quite nice.
3.7A: Pitch black with a thin off white/light brown head. N: Coffee, chocolate, paprika, light bourbon T: Raspberry, coffee, cassis, chocolate O: Surprisingly much berries! Low on the BA... Decent though...
4.34oz sampler (twice) at Brusin’ Ales in Asheville. Black pour, light brown head. Nose is bourbon, dark chocolate, light fudge, light caramel. Taste is sweet from the vanilla/bourbon & caramel, with great bitterness from the chocolate and some espresso. Wow - well blended and put together. Not much of an alcohol presence with all of that either. Finishes well blended between bitter and sweet, and long. This was very enjoyable, and well worth a 12 hour trip. 16.8
4.3Draft taster at bruisin ales..wonderful aroma..wow, this is a big step up from regular version, aroma is barrel goodness, cocoa, cream, marshmallow, mouthfeel medium bodied with a definite feel of the high abv, a very tasty barrel aged stout, however drinking this in warm weather in July, couldn’t pass up the chance however
4.1Aroma is very roasty with a bit of smokiness. Pours Black with a nice tan head. Smooth, chocolatey, roasted, with a moderate whiskey booziness.
Notes: On tap at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting ’15
3.72016 bottle from Matthew Dick himself: Basically black with a lovely beige head. A good amount of fresh bourbon and tannic oak. Bakers chocolate, heavy roast and persimmon fruit. Much more acidic than I expected frankly. There is a brief interlude of ashy burnt notes as well. This could do with a tad more richness and sweetness IMO. Still I hardly would kick it outta bed.
3.9Dark black in color... Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, bourbon... Flavor is dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, bourbon... Lots of chocolate throughout... Really nice
4.1650ml bottle enjoyed @ home, 2015 vintage, thanks to Brian Parker! Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is subtle bourbon, cocoa, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, molasses, dar dried fruits and wood. Taste is medium bitter and medium sweet. Full bodied, oilyish texture, soft carbonation. Finish is warming alcohol and just the right amount of bourbon. Seems much more balanced than the non BA version.
3.8Aroma of oak and some chocolate. Flavor is nicely balanced. Chocolate, fruit flavors, and a little prune. Some heat at the end. Over rated.
4.1Bottle from 2012. Pours opaque black, small beige head, dissipates with decent residual and lacing. Aroma is cocoa, molasses and bourbon. Flavor is quite sweet, light plus bitter, molasses, cocoa, vanilla and prominent bourbon dominate the flavor profile. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. The first sip seemed rather heavy handed with the Bourbon, but its getting better as it breathes.
3.62015 bottle poured into a snifter..opaque with a thin tan head..aroma of bour-
bon,chocolate,vanilla..tastes of chocolate,bourbon,vanilla,dark fruits..non BA
version is better IMO.
4.1Deep black with a thin tan cap. Big cocoa and malty boozy syrups on the nose, a bit of boozy coffee. Big roasty flavor with some earthy bitter cocoa, finishes a little chocolaty and oddly bitter. Lots of chocolate but still bitter and boozy and roasty.
4.0’15 batch in ’15. Pours black but not as thick as I expected. Light coffee crema colored ring. Nose of piney hops, oak barrel, dark chocolate, light vanilla. Taste follows, well balanced and not nearly as sweet as I expected. Feel odd saying this about a beer I’m giving a 4 but was a bit let down by this.
3.7Dark brown. Aroma has a fair bit of chocolate. Sweet, very rich with molasses, big woody character, toffee..some really rich dark malt character. Finishes fairly syrupy, really boozy and intense.
3.8Bottle. Pours deep opaque black with a small, rather fizzy, frothy beige head. Settles as a thin film. Aroma has sweet malts, licorice, vanilla, oak, roasted malts, light raisins, mild tobacco. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has smoke, lots of chocolate, cocoa, oak, rather sweet. Nice.
4.0Bottle shared at dbarnold’s, 10/31/15. Dark brown with a lasting brown head and drippy lace. Lots of chocolate here, not a ton of bourbon, just a strong stout with a nice malty flavor and light bitterness. Still, a very nice beer.
4.1Bottle from Steven. 2012. Mellow and chill. Lots of toasty malt. Smooth chocolate. Bittersweet. A little bit molasses. Finish is a little light and maybe a little oxidized.
4.0Bottle share at Tom’s house. Poured a black oil into a small snifter with a light tan head. Aroma is big chocolate, hint of vanilla, bourbon oak barrel, booze, and some light roast. Taste is very big chocolate up front, moving to some spices like anise, and then some vanilla and oak barrel. FInishes fairly booze hot. Big body, chewy. Moderate carb. I thought it was good but a little boozy for 10%.
3.922 oz bottle shared by Spencer. 2013 vintage, or at least that's what the bottle has written on it. The pour is a dark oily black with a dark khaki collar of head and no lace. The aroma is pretty heavy on the chocolate. There is a bit of licorice and some pretty good roast, but the barrel induces a lot of booze and a hint of vanilla. The whiskey is pretty heavy on this one. The flavor is pretty laid back from what I was expecting. There is a good amount of chocolate and malts. The barrel is much more reserved. There is a light wood and a decent vanilla with a heavily subdued booze character. Light char brings up the back. The mouth feel is thin and light with a light carbonation and it's just slick. The aftertaste is quick fading and mostly milk chocolate, with a little roast. I wanted it to be so much more
3.9Lots of chocolate in here, milk chocolate. Pours black with good head and lacing. A little on the syrupy side. Pretty sweet. Tap at Snallygaster.
3.9On draft at Snallygaster 2015. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavors of bourbon, chocolate and oak. Bitter roast finish.

3.3This was pretty understated. It had a decent flavor but it was not overpowering.
3.7Bottle. Thanks Couch! Aroma is strong chocolate, oak and vanilla. Tastes smooth and slightly boozy. Moderate bourbon with chocolate and caramel. Thin to medium body. Solid. Wish there was more body though.
4.1Bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Whiskey, roasted, chocolate and dark malt aromas. Bourbon, sweet chocolate and toffee and dark malt flavors.
4.2Bottle thanks to Mofobrother. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of nice sweet chocolate, vanilla, sweeter bourbon, dark sweet fruits and molasses. Straight forward smooth and slick smelling BBIS! The taste is sweet and smooth with notes of chocolate, vanilla, fudge, dark sweet fruits, sweet bourbon and with a silky body. Nice and gentle balance in this.
3.9Bottle courtesy of Mike shared with Max. Pours a deep blackish brown body with thin tan lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, oak, light booze, sweet sugar and light lactose. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet belgian chocolate up front, followed by lots of sugar (but not too too much), light oak, some faint woody character and sweet vanilla. Medium to light-bodied considering the abv and flavor profile. Nice stuff, thanks Mike.
4.2Bottle split 5-ways @ Dangerous Bottleshares #11. Thanks to MotherBrother for bringing this! Pours pitch black with a medium mocha head. Aromas of lots of bourbon, caramel, dark chocolate, roast, dark fruits, light licorice, just a hint of tobacco, cocoa, fudge, vanilla.
