3.2 Average malty and hoppy ipa. Quality is bleh and it is not very balanced. Slight citrus flavor. Malty and bitter finish. Pours cloudy orange with a thick white head. Okay beer
3.6 Twelve ounce bottle from Fort Collins sampler 12 pack purchased at The Party Source. Hazy amber hue, nice firm bittersweet fruity/piney/citrus nose, flavor much like the aroma. A bit more sweetness and a tad less bitterness than I recall from drinking it previously but still a quite good beer. Tasted on July 25, 2014.
3.0 Aroma: Floral, grapefruit, orange, malty, sweet. Appearance: Opaque, cloudy orange. Darker than most IPAs. Thick, creamy, egg shell colored, two-finger head that disappeared quickly. Thin, to no lacing. Taste: Bitter hops, floral. Citrus notes disappear on the tongue. Grapefruit lingers. Palate: Flat. More bitter than dry. Overall: I poured this 12 oz. bottle into a glass in which I like to drink beer. The taste does not live up to the promise of its aroma. RateBeer member BigDaddyBlues probably summed it up best, "Solid. Not one I would look for again but if I saw it for the right price, I would buy." #respectbeerbrethren. I would add though, I would love to drink this on tap.
3.2 Gifted bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. The aroma is clean with some grapefruit, orange, lightly floral. The taste has a lot of grapefruit, medium bitterness. Not bad but forgettable.
3.9 amber color; citrusy, floral hop aroma; a well balanced IPA with citrusy hop flavor and light pine notes; medium bodied malt base with caramel notes
2.9 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-hazy copper color. The head is about a finger high, with an eggshell shade. Retention isn’t amazing, and the head only leaves a modicum of lacing behind. S: Just as I feared, the nose is really malty and sweet. Having said that, there are some enjoyable notes to be found - it also brings some decent apricot and pineapple notes. Still, the hops here are way too mild for me. T: The flavor threw me a curveball - this is kind of bitter all around. Actually, no, it’s kind of GENERICALLY bitter all around. Despite the bitter presence, it remains rather malty from the start to the finish. There is one aspect I enjoy, though: the finish has a good stone fruit flavor. Otherwise, this one is meh. M: There’s some good news on the feel: it’s fairly dry, allowing it to go down fairly easily. However, it isn’t particularly crisp or clean. Much of the dryness seems astringent more than anything, and combined with the sharp carbonation, makes it a bit harsh in the mouth. O: This tastes really old school. It’s somewhat malty, pretty bitter, yet devoid of hop flavors. It isn’t an awful beer, just...way behind the times for an IPA. I’m getting a picture in my head of this beer singing "old gray mare, she ain’t what she used to be..." while more modern IPAs like MBC Lunch walk past the old man, wondering why he’s making a fool of himself.
3.8 12 oz bottle served in pint glass (from notes). Modicum of sediment in bottle added mid-taste. Pours with ample 1-finger head that has good duration. Hazy amber/orange color. A - Fine aroma that is markedly fruity and floral, with a lightly toasted malt background. Some but not all, of the fruitiness seems to be from citrus-toned hops. Slightly earthy. T- Substantial malt sweetness is initially evident but quickly gives way to a good hit of bitter hops, although malt flavor remains. Slightly woodsy (neither good nor bad IMO). A piney aspect is less obvious in the aroma than in the flavor. Excellent citrus/pine tinted hoppy finish where the remaining malt sweetness wears off quickly leaving a more bitter, but not unpleasant, lingering aftertaste dominated by hops. The mouthfeel is good, being typical for style. Moderate (i.e., well chosen) carbonation. Rather crisp with a semi-dry finish. O - a very pleasant and easy to recommend IPA.
3.3 Bottle. Gold pour. Aroma has some hop bitterness and floral notes. Taste is floral up front, some citrus and bitter aftertaste. Not bad but not top tier. Good all day drinking IPA.
3.6 Julie does not like. It. Julie. Gives a 1.0.
3.3 Nice floral notes on the nose after a copper pour into an IPA glass. Head is light and quickly receding. Comes across with medium body, medium bitterness, with the resins coming through clearly but not as much of the florals that came through in aroma. All in all, slightly better than a decent beer with nothing to complain about.
3.2 Bready boring bitter amber beer. Just not very exciting and hoppy, might be because the bottle is quite old...
3.3 Pours a slightly hazy amber orange with a well sustained off white head. Hops are out of the glass first with a little ripe orange and grapefruit. Light florals and a touch of caramel on the back. Sweet then bitter on the tongue. A bit too much caramel for my taste and a weaker hop presence than in the nose. Finishes with lingering citrus notes. Decent.
3.7 Bottle from Hazel's beverage world. Deep amber color, white head. Bitter taste with grapefruit, mango, floral hops, resin and pine. Bitter finish with grapefruit, hops and pine. Very nice IPA.
3.5 Pours a slightly murky orange-amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is orange marmalade. Taste is bright mango and citrus with a citrus rind bitterness that runs throughout the palate. Nice & pleasant.
3.4 Poured from 12 oz bottle into schooner glass. Appearance: a 1" bubbly off white head dies away quickly with some moderate lacing. Color is a quite hazy orange-copper with a bit of sediment in suspension. Aroma: sweet orange, grapefruit, and nice malty backbone. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, frothy, and quite sticky with a fairly dry finish. Flavor: Sweet orange, grapefruit dominate with some caramel and whole wheat bread flavor. There is a strong lingering grapefruit/citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Overall: very good ipa.
3.5 12 oz bottle, Kroger Bridge St. Decent looking, medium brown with a froofy white head, becoming a decent ring plus sparse covering; solid lacing. Aroma is on the darker side of IPA’s: apple, darker sweetness, earthier, grapefruit. Flavor similar, adding toffee; finish borders on too sharp but isn’t quite. Medium body, a little on the flat side but not too bad; medium sticky. Overall, surprisingly good. Easy enough to drink, and would be great with Italian food imo.
3.7 Pours on the darker side for an IPA. Very floral aroma and a nice hoppy flavor. Not so much of a citrus flavor but finishes nice and smooth
3.5 [Thanks to Plovmand]. Hazy orangish colour with a frothy and creamy off-white head with good retention. Aroma has notes of pine, resins and light caramel. Flavor is strong bittery with orange and light citrus notes, moderate malty with slightly caramel. Strong bittery final with a dry mouthfeel.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a low, lacing head. Subtle hoppy aroma with a light tangy finish. Light hoppy taste with a nice dry finish. Some tart. Not a bad IPA. Could be a bit cleaner.
3.5 Bottle. Hazy amber orange colour with medium creamy white mostly lasting head. Hoppy aroma. Bitter flavor. Oily palate.
3.4 Mar. 20, 2014. 12 oz btl. Dark filtered pour. Ample head. Nicely balanced & chewy. Slightly fizzy. Sweet.
2.8 Floral aroma, thin head and light bodied IPA. Sticky bitterness and grain disconnect with my palate. I’ll agree with the description, Fort Collins needs to familiarize itself with brewing IPA’s.
3.5 This is not a great IPA. It is a pretty good IPA. Good nose right out of the bottle. Piney and citrusy. Pretty mild but still there. Gorgeous color. A nice deep orange. Taste is solid IPA all the way. That is how I would describe this IPA. Solid. Not one I would look for again but if I saw it for the right price, I would buy.
3.3 Popped the bottle and the floral aroma hit me hard. Not as hoppy as I like my ipas but good a little sweet and ended up getting a little higher rating than it should have just because I like the 3 legged elephant
3.3 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a hazy and cloudy deep amber-straw color with a good-sized foamy off-white head with good retention, lacing, and cling. Its aroma had a blend of floral and citrus notes with some grainy and earthy tones and a bit of caramel malt. It had a mostly bitter flavor featuring a blend of floral, citrus, and grainy flavors and mild sweet and sour components. It had a fairly wet and watery body with average carbonation and fizz, yielding to a dry finish.
3.7 21 Jan 2014, bottle. orange, hazy, rocky head. nose is sweet granola malt, floral, pink grapefruit citrus. med body, mildly fizzy. some sweet granola malt in the background but mainly grapefruit citrus.
3.7 Tap, pours golden, aroma is citrusy with some pine there as well, lots of hops and a nice bitterness, pretty refreshing and drinkable ipa
2.8 Little on the lighter side for most IPA’s. Not as much hop aroma and taste as you would like to see. Big head but little lacing. Good but no where near great.
3.2 From a bottle. Balanced, more like a pale ale. Aroma is floral and malt. Some sweetness and booze balanced with weak hops. Linger is bitter. Fairly unique IPA from Ft. Collins.
3.7 On tap. Cloudy orange with off white head. Aroma of pine, wood, ash, resin and tropical fruit. Taste is sweet but balanced with woody and resiny notes, ash and pine. Some caramel in the bottom.
