3.947cl Blik, dank Harmen! Goud-amber kleur, witte kraag. Hars, caramel, dennen, wat grapefruit, citrus, hint van mango, perzik, fors bitter, licht alcoholisch. Medium tot volle body. Lekker.
3.7Pours a rich gold with a frothy head that billows then dies down to ample lacing; bursting pine and citrus on the nose; rich, oily palate; prolonged bitter finish.
4.0Llauna Beer Republic. Bona Doble West Coast. Cítrica i resinosa. Matosa amb punt dolç. Pèl alcohòlica, però ben bona
3.3Amber with a thick white head. Aroma of orange and lemon. Taste has peach, barley. Palate has much of the same. Good.
3.9Can 44 cl, poured into a Trappist glass. Pours a clear golden with a small to medium white head and an aroma of citrus, sweet malts and syrup.
3.6473ml can. Opalescent, dark orange, golden to amber colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Resinous, piney and citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, condensed but not overly intense hoppiness, notes of tangerine, lemon, candied orange peel, candied lemon peel, rather neutral, malty background. Taste is bitter, zesty, citrusy fruity and resinous, piney hoppy, again condensed but not overly intense hop flavours (especially no mode of expanding, dispersing, dissipating), hints of lemon, resin, caramel malty backbone with subtle residual sweetness.
Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation.
Stuffed, compacted; not a complementary "more of flavours", just a cumulative "more of the same" - not fully convincing (and a bit monstrous indeed).
3.7Pours a clear pale orange with a big thick white head. Mild hop and malt aroma. Taste is sweet malt, bread, rather sharp citrus/pine hoppiness, yet well balanced. Don't typically like IPAs above 50 IBU, but this one is quite good.
4.1Pours a two-finger white head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Slightly hazy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is mostly pine. Flavor follows, pine but with light sweetness. Higher ABV, 9.2%, not noticeable.
4.2Clear, deep gold pour with an off-white head. The aroma is hoppy and matches the bittersweet taste. It is full bodied with smooth texture and an easy finish. The alcohol is very well hidden.
3.9Pint can from Smokes n Suds. Deep copper color, perfect clarity, and a finger of creamy beige head. Sweet aroma of floral and citrus hops. The taste is a trip down memory lane.. rich hop flavors are sweet and sticky, some florals in there, and a persistent and lingering bitterness. Citrus, piney, and dank. It’s big and bold, a textbook example of the classic DIPA.
3.7(Can) Clear amber-oramge body with a medium off-white head and some foamy lacing. Malty aroma of caramel, pine resin, grapefruit, slightly dank. Light to medium body; oily mouthfeel; low carbonation. Malty caramel flavor with pine resin, grapefruit, grass, orange, rose petal.
3.5Shared pint can poured to a snifter showing a clear, orangey gold color, with a presentable layer of soft white froth that produced a persistent ring, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose was dried pit fruit, citrus backing, slight resin, and subtle sweetness. Better than medium bodied, the taste was similar, but less expressive notes, with decent carbonation, some alcohol assistance, and rind & resin bitterness.
4.6What an amazing beer. Hazy golden orange hue. Sweet acidic taste and wonderful notes of tropical citrus fruits. Great medium full mouthfeel and finish. Love this brew
3.7Good double IPA. Solid hoppy aroma. Somewhat dank with an even bitterness. Medium weight.
3.73/27/2020 - 2020 released bottle from Holiday Market. Pours a clear orange gold with a finger of off-white foam that lingers, then dissipates. Nice soapy lacing that lingers throughout. Punchy grapefruit, orange zest, tangerine and pineapple aromas. As it warms some toasted malt and pine. More citrus, pith, piney resin and toasted malt on the palate. Strong bitterness with toasted honey and citrus pith with a drying, pine finish. Feels light on the palate and easy to drink. Old school, but done well.
4.3DATE: February 4, 2022... OCASSION: the Olympics kick off--might as well go big with a big beer!...GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip... pours a clumpy, retentive white pile of suds that traces reasonably across the glass... an eruption of tiny bubbles streams up through a crystal-clear amber-brown body...alluring, yes... an impactful boom of competing aromas: at once, thick pine and resin, berry, lemon drop and grapefruit contend with a hefty malt bill that evokes baked bread, caramel, and sharp grains... aromatic tea as well... the first sip eases in, wet, surprisingly apologetic in its arrival...the teeth are spared at first, yet in its wake, a lingering warmth at the throat teams with a pleasant creaminess... by the second sip, a buzz is alive and well... the flavor profile is a balance of hop and malt, on a scale proportionate to its ABV... resin, grapefruit, lemon, and berry on one side, lightly toasted softly spiced bread on the other... the tea aroma manifests here in a pleasing manor... this giant camouflages its size well, sipping gregariously with the slightest heat from the breath... juicy enough to mull over, this is indeed yet another Founders that makes me thankful it remained in its rotation yet another year...
3.816 ounce can. Pours a clear copper hue with a medium white head. A nice sweet citrus and pine nose. Medium bitterness, caramel, toast, pretty rich citrus. Solid.
3.6A really nice IIPA. Pours dark amber. Dank pine and earthy backbone, cut by the resin and bitter citrus. Slick mouthfeel. Can in 2022.
3.9Aroma is fruit/dark fruit and hops. The flavor is tropical fruit, malts, fruit/citrus and a slightly sweet/big bitter hop/hop resin finish.
3.9Clear copper pour with a tall, creamy to chunky off white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma of pine, citrus peel, caramel, straw, cookie toasted flour and a little dank. Flavor is caramel, cookie, sweet bread, dank, tons of resinous pine, deep, bitter citrus, a little oily grain, some peppery notes and cooked tropical fruit. Medium body, oily, syrupy entry, off dry finish, light, sharp and blanketing carbonation, medium hop acid bite. Good stuff
3.9It pours amber with a white head. Head retention is low. It has excellent clarity. There is a strong stone fruit aroma with some grainy sweetness and low caramel. There is a very low berry element. It has strong stone fruit and resin flavors with low caramel and very low grainy sweetness. There are some very low berry elements. It has a medium body with a bit of a hop bite to it. Overall, it a very hoppy beer with a malt backbone that supports and compliments the hops.
3.0Can/Fest.
A- Hop cakes.
A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Hoppy, rubber, caramel, malty, bread dough.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish.
O- Tasted really old school. lots of malt character and some bitter pine resin.
3.716 oz can. Smells of pine and grapefruit with a touch of toffee. Amber in color and clear. Nice balance, the malts and hop bitterness play well together with the bitter hops winning at the finish. Long lasting bitter finish.
3.6Draft at Strangeloves. Slightly hazy honey amber pour with a thick top of soft white foam. Traditional malty DIPA. Lightly toasted caramel malts. Wet green pinecones. Grapefruit/blood orange pith. Burnished wood. Sweetish but also quite bitter. Not easy drinking but well blended for the ABV.
3.616oz can from Hops & Bottles. Dark, clear golden, small, tight, frothy head. Aroma offers a nice blend of caramel malts and hops. Taste is also a throwback to a simpler IPA, sweet caramelly notes followed by a nice hoppy buzz that lingers and actually grows a bit in the gullet. Surprisingly smooth for a 9% beer.
3.4Nice aroma of sweet malt with a hint of booziness. Dry sweetness up front. Caramel with a quick hit of alcohol. Slick mouthfeel with a boozy bitter finish. Nice double ipa for the price.
3.5[from recent notes] 16oz can. Dated 8/21/21. Predominantly malty -- big caramel, sort of toasty. Maybe more like a hoppy barleywine right now, with a resiny, lightly piney, more earthy overall hop note. Big bitter taste, lighter sweet, light alcohol bite. Kind of bigger body, lightly dry, crisp lighter carbonation. Some juicy hop comes out more as I go... Significantly better with some grilled leftover pizza alongside... Fine enough, but understandably past its prime at nearly 3 months old..
3.5Can. Hazy gold, white head. Citrus, mango, tropical fruit, caramel malt, pine notes.
3.9Can. Deep, bright and clear copper with amber highlights and a big fluffy milk white head and a bunch of spotty lacing. Pine, caramel, grass, toast and a whiff of smoke. Slight sweetness, solid bitterness, toast, resin. Medium bodied.
