Founders Más Agave Clásica Lime

Founders Más Agave Clásica Lime

We love cocktails. Like, really love them. If you ask us, few are more refreshing than the tart and tangy margarita and our latest barrel-aged beer pays tribute to that perennial classic. We took an imperial gose brewed with agave, lime and sea salt and then aged it in tequila barrels for just the right amount of kick. Consider it a party in a bottle. Más Agave!

2.9 Smell of lime, cinnamon, tequila. Amber colour, white head. Aroma of cinnamon, tequila, lime, wood, salt, booze. Super intense flavours. Bitter, sour, somewhat salty. Also some lingering boozy sweetness. Lively carbon. Feels like too much of everything.
3.5 330ml bottle. Poured a hazy copper colour with a big, short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is lime, tequila and alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, light sour, with a tart lime citrus, woody oak, light warm boozy palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation after the initial bubbles. An interesting beer and fine to sample, but not one to drink on a regular basis.
4.1 Bottle at home in Barbados, saved this one, bought in Sterk, Amsterdam, drunk in the Barbados sun, 26th AUGUST 2021. Pours a chestnut brown, clear beer. Aroma is lime, wood, barrel, fruit, taste is complex and deep, barrel, wood, tart, lime for sure, salt and citrus, liquor, really tasty and a great idea for a Gose.
3.7 Copenhagen 15/8 2021. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. The label has a vibe of the day of the dead with a skeletal hand holding a lime with a little butterfly on top. Pours opaque, murky amber with a small white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is intense with a tart, sour and fruity scent mingling with Christmas spices and dark wooden alcohol. Citrus and lime. A bit of cardamom and ginger. Cane sugar. Dark sweet tequila. The good stuff. Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, sugary sticky, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is intense with a strong slightly boozy sweetness followed by a medium strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is sweet, potent and packed with alcohol. Lingering. Semi-dry finish. More boozy barrel than Gose - but I can certainly live with that.
4.2 Clear light brown orange color with small head which disappears very quickly. Nice aroma of tequila barrel and lime. Taste is abit sweet with agave, salt and lime which is rounded up nicely with tequila barrel. Finishes dry. Medium body, low carbonation. Very nice and tasty gose, amazing!
3.8 A golden beer, a head is quite small and blond. Aroma is nice, fruitfness, lime, fresh. Taste has agave, lime, nice malty body, freshness of citrus. Medium+ bodied. This is really like a nice coctail.
4.9 I have never had a Gose style beer so my experience in this style is limited. I'm more of a Belgian style guy. But this beer has bowled me over! Love the tartness the slight sour and salty character. The Lime flavor is strong with perfect carbonation. Hints of Tequila flavor from the barrel ageing is evident. This is the perfect thirst quencher on a hot summer day. To not taste the high alcohol content is truly a testament to the craftsmanship of Founders to accomplish such a smooth beer. It's a real shame this is a limited run!
3.7 Pours clear dark amber with a two finger off white head. Aroma is citrus, agave, tequila and lacto. Taste is agave syrup and light raisin, moving to tart lime, salt and wood. Finish is sweet raisin, tart lime, salt and tequila. Marg time! Earlier Rating: 5/26/2019 Total Score: 3.1 Pours hazy dark amber with a full, nearly white head. Aroma is sugar, lacto and some citrus. Taste is heavy agave sweetness, moving light lime and a hint of salt. Finish is lime and salt. Appears to be an attempt at a beer-a-rita, but not a great one.
4.4 12oz Flasche, Release 2020. fast klare Bernsteinfarbe, fester Schaum. Sieht schonmal schön aus. Toller Duft steigt mir in die Nase! Agave, Limette, Tequila . Leckere Fruchtigkeit, Malzkörper. Sauer-süsser Antrunk. Hat was von Weingummi. Limette, Tequila. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Sehr dichtes Aroma. Macht mir richtig Spass.
3.3 Aroma: Agave and lime with tequila notes with oak. Flavour: Sweet agave with lime and sugary notes. Aftertaste is fruity sour and sweet with strong agave. Colour: Amber with a white head. From: Bottle @ Nemlig Webshop Mar. 2021.
3.5 [Uploaded from backlog - 6/29/19] On tap at Dutch's. Really nice flavor of agave and tequila barrel with a mild heat. Moderate to bigger sweet though, I think this would be better if it was a touch more dry, more sour, maybe even a little more barrel? Hardly sour at all here really, more just sweet flavor, but for a 10% beer it does drink pretty OK in this 90F heat. Light slick, with a long aftertaste of tequila barrel that really is what makes this, though dark, almost caramel malt is a little heavy. Nice to sip on, but kick it up for me a lil with more sour and barrel please. Or maybe I should just stick to my summer favorite of actual tequila-spiked gose.
3.6 Backlog. It basically tastes like a margarita. Truth in advertising. Sweet, salty, lime, tequila. Tart. It’s a bit too sweet to me but still quite good.
4.0 Pours a golden amber with medium head with good retention. Nose of lime, alcohol, and yes, a margarita vibe. Taste is excellent and to the point: a sweet/sour citrusy twang, tequila, alcohol... a very close approximation to the real thing but its carbonated and is a beer! Or maybe not, this is a heavily modified gose ale. 10% alcohol is well hidden so watch yourself... it goes down fast and easy. YUM!
3.2 How: Bottle. Where: Systembolaget. Appearance: Hazy amber colour with an off-white had. Aroma: Malt, citrus, lime, agave. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Malt, agave, citrus, lime, fruit, some alcohol, tequila.
3.6 355 ml bottle. Unclear orange, big foamy head. Huge amounts of lime, tequila, tomato juice, sea salt, sugar syrup, hints of cinnamon, agave. Citrus sourness, some sweetness. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry sour sweet finish. More a cocktail than a beer but still balanced enough and really grows on you the more you drink.
Sabor a caramelo, toffee, maltas tostadas y cítricos maduros dulces con notas a agave o tequila, vainilla, tierra húmeda y madera. Enorme sorpresa.
3.8 355ml bottle from Prik&Tik Kampenhout. F: thin, tan, quick diminishing to thin film. C: orange gold, hazy. A: mellow fruity, bit vinous, caramel, candied orange, spicy, agave, lime touch, tequila. T: full malty base, agave, sweet mellow fruity, woody touch, bit tequila, caramel cookies, lime, soft carbonation, crazy combo here, love it or hate it, enjoyed.
3.3 12 oz bottle. Smell of margarita and beer mixed as I pour. Amber beer color with a bit of reddish at the thicker part of the glass. Thin layer of foam. Taste is like a beer mixed more with Mountain Dew than lime and salt. Very much some agave with a rim of salt to it. So it does deliver as advertised. Still some malt backbone that carries the alcohol.
3.0 Chock! Cool men ändå för mycket
3.5 Pours clear amber with an average beige head. Aroma of lime, agave, caramel, a little wood and tequila notes. Sweet taste that ends up being slightly more dry and somewhat salty. Medium bodied, oily texture and and average to lively carbonated. A very nice an interesting Ale. 🌟🌟🌟⭐️
3.8 Bottle. Hazy amber coloured with a small white head. Fruity flavour of caramel and citrus with notes of honey. Fruity and light acidic flavour of caramel and citrus with notes of alcohol. Fruity finish.
2.2 Bottle from founders 4-pack tasting box Hazy orange , small white head. Aroma is cactus, lime, faint sweet malts, cocktail spices, like a cheap flavored beer. Flavor is lime, agave, tequila, candy. quite stingy. This is so not a 96 percentile beer as i see it. It will be hard to finish. Ill take an ordinary gose any day
3.6 Thin bright white head of fine bubbles with light carbonation. Distinct lime in the aroma with saltwater, tequila, gingerbread and vanilla frosting. Color is a hazy ruddy orange. Wow, very sweet flavor dominated by lime, saltwater, tequila, butter rum and sweet malts. Very lively carbonation on the palate. Noticeable alcohol presence. Finishes tart lime and sweet caramel. Not my cup of tea but anybody who likes tequila will definitely like this.
3.9 One of the best and unique beers I've had in a while. Goes down like a 5% wine cooler / cocktail.
3.3 From bottle (pkgd 5June'19) in dimpled mug. Pours clear bronze w/light tan head, aroma of lime, tequila. Interesting taste blend backed by hints of caramel malt. I like most all Founders big beers but found this a struggle to finish.
2.6 It tastes like a lemon/lime margarita. Very sweet. The salt is present as well. The tequila barrels give it some strong flavor. The agave flavor is dominant. Still I am not a fan.
4.3 355ml bottle brewed in Michigan at 10%. Majestic bronze colour with a neat fair-duration head. Rich aroma, some salty lime gose notes, but also caramel, wood and that distinctive agave, floral but deep. Moderate carbonation, robust mouthfeel, light, not overdone stickiness. Sweet and tart in equal measure, with well-judged salt. Warming but not harsh alcohol character. Modest, honeyed caramel-vanilla woodiness, a splash of refreshing lime juice, but the star of the show is that distinctive agave taking up the mid-tones with its unique, faintly sticky floral meets earthy plant feel. One of the best Goses around in my book, if untraditional, showing how many disparate tastes and sensations can be kept in balance, but it deserves a place in the beer hall of fame for its showcasing of the lovely and rare agave flavour. Founders has the reputation they do because of beers like this. Mas Agave - headlining its own style of beer, frankly - sui generis, and arguably no longer really a Gose any more. It's that distinct and inventive. This is evolution, baby! By no means for everyone, but you pretty much have to try this at least once, unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool beer purist a la the Reinheitsgebot. This bottle a year-and-a-half old, and aged nicely.
