3.412 oz single from Hy Vee Wine & Spirits - Council Bluffs (Madison Ave), canned over 8 months ago. Clear golden yellowish appearance with a bubbly white head and light lacing. Aroma of toasted grain, mild hops, light floral notes and light earthiness. Similar flavor, adding light to mild hop bitterness and balanced by a light grainy sweetness. Light to medium body with ample carbonation and a clean finish. Solid pils, but I'd like to try it fresh.
3.4Bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with half of finger of head. Aromas of bread and grapefruit with a hint of pine. Taste matches the aroma with a dry and spicy finish. High carbonation.
3.912 oz can. Very mild citrus aroma. Light hazy straw color. Is it possible to have a juicy pilsner? Tastes of citrus with a touch of malts and nice carbonation. Not what I expect in pilsner, the hops really give it life. Clean crisp finish. Another solid brew from Founders that redefines what a beer style can be. Yum!
3.6Bottle: Golden, hazy, big "dirty"-white head that slowly collapses, distinctive bitter-sweet lemony to herbal-flowery nose, pale malt well detectable in the background; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, both soft and tart, light to medium bodied; lingering dryish and a bit tart bitter grapefruity finish, quite well balanced by a certain amount of pale malt. A pleasure...
3.6Dorada amarillenta, turbia.
3.003-09-2018; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their June 2018 discovery box).
The looks of the beer are nice. It looks quite like a Pale Lager. The color of the beer is a nice golden yellow. Quite a nice golden glow. The beer is crystal clear. On top of the beer a nice layer of crispy white foam is formed. Foam retention is average. A thin drape remains.
The smell of the beer is very nice. It is very hoppy and nice. Malt aromas form some basic sweets, on top of which the lovely citrus and zest hop aromas are builded. There re also some nice piney hop touches, creating that true American Hop touch. Yeast seems to give some nice refreshing fruity esters.
The taste of the beer is nice. Not to sweet, but with a nice strong hoppy bitternes and citrus sours. The beer is bitter, but still balanced. Quite nice. The flavours are not that intense though.
The palate of the beer is fine. Light body, a bit sticky and medium high carboanion. The finish of the beer is avarage. It has some bitter and rather dry hops and a slightly to strong yeasty sour. A bit to rough.
3.2355ml bottle into shaker. Amber beer with frothy white head. Slight haze, light carbonation. A little lacing. Fruity nutty nose. Clean, fruity, easy-drinking. Finish is sweet with grassy herbs. Not as grainy as you would expect in a Pils but a good refreshing lager nonetheless.
3.3Tap. Hazy Golden with a white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, slight hay, some caramel, grains. Quite bitter, loads of citrus, some rough malty quilities, refreshing but a tad of dust.
3.512oz bottle bb:?, Bièrerie. - - So it turns out Founders is all over EU now. Definitely an IPL of the FW Pivo and many other US crafty varieties, substituting C-hop infusion as well as single malt infusion for decoction: the result is an easygoing crown pleaser heavy on tropical citrus perfume (sweet lime blossom, pineapple, passion fruit), bordering on kitchy soap. Drinking is a breeze and the polished simple malt mouthfeel does not throw up any noticeable resistance. Basically at 45IBU/5,5% it's a very clean, polished urinal cake of a modern APA/IPL crushable by the 15-pack, but on Overall I'm going to rate it half-PC to style as a Pils here.
3.3330ml can. Ice cold extremely refreshing, crisp lager. Small head, lots of bubbles. Pineapple comes through for me. Great thirst quencher
3.3Bottle 355ml, a golden beer with medium head. Nose is on exotic fruits. Aroma is mainly on hop side, orange, resin and sugar, body is medium to low, correct beer but nothing more to say.
3.5Draft. Aroma of citrus, orange, biscuity malt and grapefruit. Taste has citrus, biscuity malt, grapefruit and mild pine. Nice.
3.5(12oz can)
AROMA: lemony euro pils notes, balance of soft malt and hops, some bread dough with a touch of bran and tropical fruit
APPEARANCE: touch hazy straw yellow, a bit golden, kind of belgian wheat looking, minimal head but dirty/creamy looking with some oily residue
TASTE: solid graininess, citrusy with some bran, bread, grassy, farmland/straw, high-note/green hoppiness, some tropical fruit coming through, almond/peach pits
PALATE: medium light body, quite frizzy and active upfront with a creamy middle, clean, crisp, touch biting/astringent bitterness but mostly a soft follow thru with a hint if dryness/bitterness on the tongue and cheeks
OVERALL: not bad. Very not bad. Definitely not your typical lager, or even typical pilsner. Almost a bit Hoegardeny. Light and fresh in some ways, but nice character in others. Different ... So a good beer that i want to try more to decide how good it really is.
3.3Krispig lager med lite doft av amerikansk humle. Bra törstsläckare i sommarvärmen!
4.3Cold can into lager glass, canned 90 days ago.
Pours a mildly hazy golden yellow, almost the same color as the can. The head dissipates rapidly but large bubbles linger nicely.
Aroma is headlined by lemongrass hops but apricot, pineapple and grapefruit all come through.
The mouth feel is slightly oily, slightly bitter; terribly refreshing when ice cold.
Tastes strongly of honey-lemon, with just a hint of pine.
I've passed by other Founders brews in the past, I guess their marketing comes off as crafty? After picking this pils for the hottest day off the year, I will not pass them over again.
In Teku glass. Playing Avernum 3. Maintain clean and crisp malt profile of a pilsner but adds soft but clear notes of american hops, piney, grassy and lightly lemony. Fairly aromatic
3.4Can @ home. Clear yellow golden color, average sized white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is lightly malts, lightly hoppy, lightly bitter. Decent body, soft carbonation. Quite pleasant.
3.3Can. Notes of biscuit, light citrus, butterscotch, grassy, pear, light grapefruit. Light oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation.
3.535,5cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France.
Hazy golden colour with a thin white head.
Aroma is malt, straw, hops, citrus.
Taste malt, sweet, hops, citrus, herbs, slightly yeasty.
Medium body, average carbonation.
Citrus
Bitter og syrlig
2.9Pours a light gold color. No head all. A crisp grainy aroma. A bit of a grainy flavor with some nice hop bitterness.
3.7Golden pour with a thin white head. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy for a pils. Great straw, yeast flavor, with a nice bite at the end. Pretty good!!
3.3Golden with a white head - Malt aroma with herbal hops - Malt body to support a herbal hop profile that gives nice bitterness - The herbal hops goes into the finish with nice bitterness - This was nice
Crispy. Selten so ein so interessantes Pils/Lager getrunken.
3.5Pale golden color. Aroma has floral hops, nice and clean on the nose. Taste is also quite clean with floral hop notes, light malt in the background and an appropriate amount of bitterness on the finish.
