Four Peaks Hop Knot IPA

Four Peaks Hop Knot IPA

Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie…

Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

3.4 16oz can at Dierks Bentleys in Tempe. Understanding that underneath it is a college bar, a bit pathetic they were out of a third of their taplist, and they had to resort to cans. Sweet fruits. Light citrus. Somewhat malty. 13.4
3.1 Bummed to find that it’s another in-bev, not independent. Hoppy beer without the bitter bite.
3.6 Bottle. Bready malt aroma with notes of grapefruit citrus and tropical fruit. Pours cloudy amber colored with a large off white head that has excellent retention but little lacing. Starts with bready malt flavors as well as sweet tropical fruit finishes smooth and dry with more tropical fruit as well as grapefruit hop flavor and acidity. Pretty nice ipa.
3.1 12 oz. bottle purchased at Total Wine & More, Phoenix Arizona. Aroma is weak citrus and pine. Bready malt back bone with weak citrus and pine and flower in the finish. A mild sugar hint in the finish. Tad thinner in body. I wonder if this was better before AB InBev purchased the brewery. Not bad, but certainly not drinking again.
3.5 12 oz bottle. (Tops Liquors) Tempe, AZ. Clear copper color with a small white head. Sweet dark fruity and piney hoppy aroma with sugary sweetness and caramel malt. The flavor is piney and resiny hops, mild bitterness, citrusy and dark fruity notes and a lot of caramel malty sweetness. Very drinkable.
2.0 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot), with notes of metal, butterscotch, and cotton candy. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic, slightly metallic. What a strange, icky beer. There are some hops in the nose, yes, but it's quite candy-ish and artificial smelling...weird and off-putting. In the mouth more of the same...long lasting weird sugary sweetness, almost more like candy than beer, and the aftertaste is unpleasant. Watery and fizzy. A clumsy drain pour.
3.0 On tap at Facebook in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is wet pinecones, moss, mostly rainy forest vibes. Taste is mild earth / herbal with a tangy bitter finish. A bit crisp and dry at the end (like bark).
4.0 Muy buena IPA, de Four Peaks B.C. adecuado color, aroma lupuloso intenso, carbonatado justo, sabor y retrogusto muy nobles. ideal para maridaje con carnes rojas y mariscos.
2.9 16oz can from Park Plaza Deli, Prescott, AZ. A hazy pale amber pour with a dense cream coloured head - unusually pale for an IPA; big tropical fruit aroma; sharply resinous taste, stripping the taste buds immediately, but leaving some thin fruity malts and a mild burning snesation. Unpleasantly over hopped.
3.0 not a bad beer but very light IPA
3.3 From can - The pour is blond, clear, highly carbonated with a quickly thinning head that lingers. The aroma is bright, citrusy, hoppy and grass notes. The taste is initially sweet with a slight bitterness and hops. Not overly hoppy in the palate but does finish with a strong hop aroma. The mouthfeel is medium with a nice hopped finish. Overall the beer is a solid IPA.
4.0 Bottle from Gilley's Saloon at Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas. Hops from start to finish with this beer. While it is packed full of hops there is not the sharp bitterness that you would expect and it is not as chewy as I thought that it would be.
4.2 At the Rusty Spur in Scottsdale AZ. Ice falling off the bottle as it was handed to me. Very smooth IPA.
3.7 Flight taster at the Four Peaks brewery in Tempe, Arizona Sight: Pale, light amber, small foam, hazy Smell: fragrant, hoppy but not as hoppy as northwest India Pale ales taste: good bitterness, sweet mouthfeel: very good carbonation, nice followthrough, good finish Overall: very good beer ok to repeat, but not to look for
3.6 Hazy gold with a one-finger white head and moderate lace. Herbal hops, almost minty, orange jam, toasted malt, medicinal. Medium body, lively carbonation and a clean crisp finish. Very interesting - in a good way.
2.4 At a tasting, thanks, smallish creamy head, clear oxidized orange color, aroma of orange marmalade with just a fruity hint, flavor of orange marmalade, herbs and nuts, coarse shrubby bitterness. Old and not good.
2.8 Can sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Stas. Golden. Malt, stale hops, sweetish, bitter finish.
3.7 On tap at Albuquerque Marriott. Pale gold with nice white head and lacing. Nice piney hop aroma with some tropical flavors. Refreshing undertones maltiness. Subtle flavors. Good stuff.
3.7 Draft at the restaurant in the PHX airport. Mostly clear, pale amber color with a white, lacing head. Very piney, fresh hop aroma. Some sweetness, with a medium bitter finish.
3.2 Bottle 12oz. Clear golden with a white head. Subtle hoppy aroma, which also applies for the flavour. Nice bitter finish which is rather long.
3.1 Can. Pours golden orange with a white head. Herbal hops, a little flowery, mild malty sweetness, light bitterness, and an herbal hoppy finish. Fine.
3.0 Draft at South Beach. Pours gold with a bubbly off white head. Tastes like pale malts, some dried fruits, toffee, and stale beer. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like toffee, booze, pale malts, dried fruits, and corn.
2.1 Tap. Pours clear gold. Aroma and flavor are toasted and pale malts, weak floral and grassy hops with not enough bitterness to be an English pale ale and a terrible vinegar aroma. Medium body and low carb.
3.0 This is not a good IPA. Very low hop lots of malt. Not bitter. Light vinegar aroma but just grains in sweetness. Good body, but very sweet. Malty meh.
3.0 Shared 12 oz. bottle. Hazy gold, white head. Aroma of tropical fruit. Taste is tropical fruit, citrus, caramel and pine-sol. Finish is both sweet and bitter.
3.2 Aroma: malty and sweet; Appearance: hazy orange pour with thin white head that lingers; Taste: also malty but with a bit of hoppiness; Palate: medium body with medium finish; Overall: too sweet for an IPA; would not get again.
3.4 Pour is a hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma is a nice citrus hop, I mostly get tangerine. Flavor is again a nice citrus hop, a slight sweet caramel malt and I don’t know if rye malt is used but I get some rye like spice after the swallow. Not a overwhelming hop bomb but this a solid IPA.
3.5 Poured clear amber. Notes of tropical fruit and pine in the nise. Ballanced with a malt forward finish.
3.5 Bottle to glass. Aroma is weird to me, I smell nothing but ham, yes ham. Glazed ham. Appearance is cloudy and the color of cider. Taste is not bold but it is refreshing and very easy on the tastebuds. Easy hop taste with absolutely no harshness. This is a very drinkable beer. Would get again.
3.9 Btl pours a crystal clear light bronze color with a big white head that lingers, leaving massive curtains of lace on glass with each sip. Aromas pine tar, sweet bread, dank and toffee.Tastes of citrusy grapefruit, lemon, oranges and sweet caramel. Medium body, perfect carbonation, smooth mouthfeel, clean hop bitterness with a slightly sweet finish. Over all this is really a well balanced beer. Easy to drink IPA with no harsh hop bitterness. Crisp and clean hop flavors really bump it up to the next level. Definitely crushable!
