The best selling Amber in the Northwest. It’s a great tasting malty sweet beer that has rich amber hue, a full body, and a spicy floral hop finish. This American style amber ale is brewed with: 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts and is hopped with Mt. Hood and Cascade hops

3.712 fl.oz bottle. A clear deep amber beer with a huge good lasting beige head. Aroma of dry caramelish malt, nutty hops, reddish malt. Taste of nutty hops, brownish malt, caramel, medium bitterness, not bad!
3.5Pours dark, yet very clear amber. Small white head fades fast. Smell is toasty, tad sweet, medium to medium low intensity. Taste is bitter, tad herbal, rather mild toastyness, but it builds up towards the aftertaste, as the bitterness fades away and gives the other aspects more playround. Medium mouthfeel, medium carbo. Aftertaste is toasty, tad herbal notes from the hops. Clear fermentation profile.
3.3Got as a gift @ Billie’s Bier Festival 2017. Thanks to the organization. No date. Quite dark chestnut amber, tanned head. Nose is herbal, stale kitchen spices, leaves, thin plastic caramel. Taste is thick weird plastic caramel, autumn leaves, stale lingering kitchen spices, weird thick plastic oil, almost vague oxidation. Lingering stale kitchen spices. Like a weird thicker Spéciale belge or a lacklustre thicker bitter.
3.8Maroon amber clear with medium off-white head. Malt aroma with roasted notes. Nice bitterness with remarkable roast notes. Lasting bitter aftertaste.
3.2From Feb 2008
I got this in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!
It pours from 12oz bottle a clear amber with a solid 2 finger head of foam. I'm near the end of my session and the head retention is excellent!
The smell is of malt and fruit but it's on the light side.
The taste is nice and malty. Lots of chewy caramel malt hits my tastebuds first followed by some bready notes and a citric fruit kick that hits the back of my throat nicely. It has a medium mouthfeel and the carbonation is fairly light. After a few more sips the hops become a little more assertive but it's still a nicely balanced Amber. It finishes slightly sweet and leaves a fairly long lasting aftertaste. Good stuff!
3.412 oz 2017 bottle served in a Fat Cat glass.
Pours with a copper-amber colored body that has excellent clarity and a fine bone-colored head. Good lacing.
Aroma: typical for style with mild grains and hops both evident.
Flavor: mild grains and hops both evident, but a touch more hop forward than average.
Feel: smooth, medium body and medium carbonation.
3.5Bottle 12fl.oz. @home poured into a teku glass. Brillant deep amber, good frothy beige head, good retention, heavy lacing; aroma roasted malts, grain, caramel, ripe red fruits; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, roast, caramel; malty sweetbitter aftertaste, burnt caramel, touch of lemon, hint of chocolate; medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation; nice amber ale.
3.4Pretty solid clean-cut amber, not too bitter, could use a bit more cara malt possibly for chewy mouthfeel. Bottle from trader joes
3.4Bottle from Total Wine, South Richmond. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is floral, caramel, nuts. Flavor is roasted caramel, nuts... slightly sweet, pretty good. Surprisingly better than I envisioned.
3.433cl bottle. Clear amber with a small off-white head. Nuts, caramel and biscuit. Nice.
3.3355ml bottle. Clear, dark amber colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Floral-herbal-spicy hoppy aroma, hints of menthol and peppermint, minimally chococlately, malty background with a chocolate cookie touch. Taste delivers an identical combination of flavours with an additional touch of lemon in the hop profile.
3.3Bottle from a supermarket in Oregon. Aroma is sturdy caramel malts, notes of toffee and ripe fruits with a hint of hops. Flavour is almost medium sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. Agreeable American Amber with a bittersweet finish.
3.5Amber leaning towards brown with a thin cream colored head. Toasty malt aroma. Flavor is nutty - raw almond, with a nice rounded malt sweetness. Some balancing bitterness as it finishes. All around pleasant if perhaps noncommittal. I remember the good old days when there was just a happy hint of diacetyl.
3.0Pours clear amber with a thin beige head, low retention. Aromas of toffee, toast, nuts, with a light earthy hop note. Medium body, smooth, moderate carbonation. Lightly sweet, a hint of tartness, and a moderately bitter finish. Enjoyably
bitter and nutty, but I’m not usually a fan of the style and this brew doesn’t do anything to change that.
4.6great example of a good full bodied ale, good amber appearance and aromas when poured. Nice on the palate with a mild hoppy taste
3.812 ounce bottle. Pours a deep copper color with a small tight beige head. Rich toasted malt nose with nutty tendencies. Flavor follows the nose with additional notes of caramel and mocha. Spicy hops come through and offer a nice balance to the sweet maltiness. Well crafted and full of malty goodness.
3.8Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Aroma is bread, caramel, nuts. Appearance is dark amber with trace sparkle, 2-finger width frothy beige head and minimal lacing. Taste is as aroma with caramel dominating, late fruit. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and sweet, dry finish. Overall, a nice representative of the style. Not too heavy.
3.6Dark Amber with moderate head and carbonation. Sweet nutty malts, very smooth, with some herby hopping for a dry finish. On the brown side of Amber.
3.85.5%ABV. Amber ale.
Poured out light clear brown. 21ºSRM
Nose is nutty and has for me that odor of old well-conditioned leather.
Mouthfeel is light soap. Palate is actually very sweet and has a bunch of nice toasted malt, but smoother and more mellow than the other ambers I’ve had. Ambers always have an abruptness to the palates that always struck me as a little rude. Full sail’s brew has a very nice smooth easy going palate that has the malt of a malted milkshake, with vanilla beans and a nice creamy finish.

3.2355ml bottle. (6.0% ABV) Pours a clear amber with a thin, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt with a hint of chocolate. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, chocolate, biscuit, peach and grass with a mildly bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. This was actually pretty tasty (as the label states)... for a boring style.
3.1Amber with off white head - Sweet malt aroma - Malt body with some caramal notes and some bitterness in the back - The dark malt and hops goes into the finish - This was nice
3.5Dark caramel almost no head. aromas caramel, toffee, slight zest hop. Flavors zest/citrus hop, caramel, hidden toffee. Medium bodied. Good tasty beer as the label says. Medium sweet.
2.812-ounce bottles. A bit darker than most ambers. Amber ales tend to be a little boring, and this one doesn’t have any standout qualities, but not bad at all.
3.4Ar- subtle hop aroma here, getting some cantaloupe, hints of oranges, low malt aroma,
Ap- clear, deep Amber, almost brown. Short head doesn't hang around long.
Fl- malt sweetness throughout with a hint of pie crust, well balanced hops give some citrus pine and resinous notes finishes mildly bitter.
Mf- med to full bodied, nicely carbonated, dry toward the end
Ov- good beer just unimpressed I guess. Would like more distinct malt flavors.
3.2Was a full bodied Amber, a little hoppier than I expected with a bitter finish. Looked lovely though!
2.8Bottle at home from trader Joe’s. Mid amber copper coloured pour with a thin greyish head. Aroma is caramel, apple, burnt toffee, light mineral, toasted bead. Malty nose. Flavour is cloying sweet toffee malts, toffee apple, mineral, nutty, hay. Palate is sweet, medium light, mineral, moderate carbonation. Too sweet.
3.2There are certain styles that I am rarely impressed by. There are also a few breweries who seldom impress me as well. I guess Full Sail Amber Ale was doomed from the start with me since it’s a style I rarely enjoy by a brewery I rarely enjoy. And it’s not that this is a terrible beer by any means, just that it’s not nearly the good one it should be.
I poured a 12oz bottle into a tumbler. It had an enjoy by date of 1/19/16 and cost $1.66 ($0.14 per ounce).
Appearance: Definitely a beautiful deep amber/magenta red hue. Body is mostly clear with plenty of visible carbonation. Pours to a thumb-width, white foamy head which retains well but doesn’t lace the glass.
Smell: Amber malts for sure, though they are mild. A bit of a floral scent, but equally mild. Seems to smell a little buttery, too.
Taste: If you go over a list of amber ale characteristics, this beer would seem to live up to every check point on the list. Yes, there’s light malty sweetness and a bit of floral or piney hop flavor and bitterness – but again, it’s quite mild. This bottle probably has some age on it, but it’s still well within its freshness window. Additionally, there does seem to be a faint buttery flavor or maybe even yellow lollipop. It’s not bad, in fact, both are in line with the base palette so as not to be distracting (or even discernable by less nuanced palates). There’s even some nutty flavor as well, which is nice. Still, this beer could use a little more of pretty much everything.
Drinkability: I always get frustrated when a beer doesn’t live up to its potential. At 6% ABV, Full Sail Amber Ale should be a fairly big-bodied and complex brew; yet it drinks like something lighter and more simplistic. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, wet, and flat. The hops do linger, but leave a dry, pasty sensation. This would be fine with a meal that’s not too intensely flavored.
RATING: 5/10
3.4Amber clear pour from 12 oz bottle. Pretty lean. Some mild malts. Some hops, mostly earthy hops. Pretty carbonated. Oh hum brew.
3.1Aroma is roasty malts , caramel and light earthy malt. Taste is rich malts with light basic hops. Finishes pretty flat. Appearance is a clear amber with a
