a.k.a. Chris’s Summer Delight, an unfiltered, refreshingly tart small batch beer conceived by our own Chris Haveman from 50% wheat malt and just a touch of Hersbrucker hops.

2.7Not a huge fan. Getting no malt in aroma. Skunky lemon tart grass. Light, well carbonated.

Really surprised to see this beer from this brewery. Figured Widmer would have taken the front in the geography (and slaughtered the style).
Pours a delicate light yellow with the slightest diaphanous overcast. Fleeting foam atypical of the style. Smells of wheat, co2, lemon must, hay and some hints of lactic acid. Light and crisp smelling. Lightly tart with a wheaty sweetness and finishing corn flavors. The tartness is upfront and surprisingly transient. The finish is longer than I had anticipated with grain and grass with a hint of dry tartness (like I just swallowed some plain yogurt). A little heavy for the style with moderate carb and a wet finish. Clocking in at 4%, this is on the low end for US Berliner’s, but the high end for Berlin. I like this version, although I’m guessing it isn’t natural lacto, nor is there any Brett, so the beer really does merit a "best by". Nonetheless, I’m not put out by the offering. Certainly worth the $5 I paid.

2.9Bottle (1P 6FL.OZ): Golden, clear and white head that dissipates quickly. Musty malt and yeast lees nose. It’s musty! No spoilage. Clean slightly citrus and moderately neutral. Very dry and sour palate. Low to no bitterness. Lime like citrus acidity. Slightly malty. No funky spoilage, clean and fresh. Like drinking a light dry white wine. Colombard or Semillon. Short light and simple but refreshing.
Exotic compared to a big beer lager that’s slightly sweet and has no flavor.
Maybe perfect for spicy Thai or Chinese food.
Palate is much better than the nose. There is a house aroma that can be also seen in Mendocino and North Coast.
3.322oz bottle pours out a golden topped with a nice head. Nose is wheat lacto and some grass. Taste is as the nose with a nice malty and a touch of citrus.
3.722 ounce bottle
This was an excellent discovery at a local beer store. It isn’t often you find something like this on the shelves in Ohio. It might not age particularly well but so far seems to be good as new.
Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated golden base couples with bubbly head. Wheat, lemon rinds, and a slight dryness are not quite as sharp as a typical Berliner Weiss. Regardless it forms an inviting profile.
Flavor / Palate - Lemon crisp, sweet honey, and a delicate mouthfeel tease the palate. Fading fast it makes you grab for another pour immediately. Sessionable and pleasing this is a fine summer beer.
3.4on tap- Pour is yellow with a thin white head..Nose is lemon, grains, funk, dry..Taste is light tartness, lemon, funk, nice mouth, grains, wheat..
3.6On tap, Green Dragon, Portland. Cloudy yellow, with a nice white head. Smells tart, lemony, with a wee bit of cheesy funk in the background. Taste is tart, citrusy, and lightly toasty as it warms.
3.1Bottle; dark gold color with a white head. Aroma was tart and funky; wheaty. Flavor was not great. Yeasty and tarty. Had better of the style.
3.1Bomber to tulip (shared by Brigadier). Looks good for the style; transparent golden light orange with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells lightly tart, wheaty, and biscuity. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Okay, but mild for the style.
2.3From 22oz bottle to chalice (closest thing I had to a bowl). Pour isabright yellow, thin white head that was very active and fizzy. Nose is almost non existent; bread, nut, light malt, even lighter hop notes. Taste is very light, mostly sweet. High carbonation that’s comparable to champagne. See what they’re going for here, not my style however.
3.0Pours yellow with no head. Aroma of apples, funky malt, lacto. Taste is like an old malt note even though this Is fresh, apples and tart sour wheat. Very off, just strange.
1.9Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Translucent golden color, barely any head. Aroma is.... Unexpected. Damp and grainy, muddled and misty with very light lemon. Taste is also grainy and kind of lager-like. Like a Budweiser with some extra grains and a lemon squeezed in. Forgettable, and not very good.

Bottle: The aroma consists of light grain, wheat, grass, and the faintest hint of lemon. It pours a transparent dull gold with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with light wheat, grain, and grass. The finish has a touch of lemon. It?s light bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it comes across as a lightly sour Pale Lager.
2.9Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Tartness is mild but somehow a little off.
3.1Clear golden with a short-lived white head. Aroma of funk, grain, apricot. Mildly tart flavor and grainy. Light bodied, quite dry. Not bad, but it’s pretty mild all around.
2.5Light orange colored pour with a white head. Lots of fruity notes, not much tartness. Peaches, apricots, grain, honey. This is more of a wheat beer than Berliner. Damn.
3.0Drier apricot. Hazy golden tinted orange. Small white head. Yaddayadda. Drier apricot. That’s all you need to know.
3.6On tap at Untapped Dallas. Hazy golden pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor are very nice. The tartness is not too strong, as expected, but I get some tart lemon notes as well as some sour wheat. There is also a bit of malty wheat notes to keep things from being too over the top on the sour side. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Really like this one.
2.8Location: 22 oz bottle from Central Market, 9/10/13
Aroma: The aroma is unexciting, with corn, grass, yeast, and a hint of fruit
Appearance: It pours a clear yellow-gold color with a small white head
Flavor: The taste is similar, corn, yeast, some mild tartness, light sweetness, and a little dull
Palate: The body is light, it is a touch watery, has a fizzy carbonation, and a mild finish
Overall Impression:
This wasn’t my favorite example of this style, nor was it a favorite from Full Sail. It’s okay, but it isn’t good. I could have easily gone lower on the score, but I really don’t think I could have gone much higher.
3.2a grainy, malty note. not too sour in the nose. barley malt nose. very pale gold/copper color, slight haze. minor head. soft, round, not overly carbonated. medium body. grainy, cereal (unmalted wheat) flavor. light flavor, mild lactic sourness. sourness more pronounced in finish and aftertaste, as malt dominates up front. not what i’d call a classic example of berliner weisse, but still very good.
3.0A earthy, musty, almost funky aroma. Pours a clear pale yellow with foamy, but rapidly diminishing white head and no lacing. The taste is subdued. While tartness is present, I was expecting something more tart. Funk, dankness, horse blanket, grain, cardboard, citrus, malts, and grain. Medium-light body and crisp carbonation. Overall, the more I drank it the more I liked it. Still, I would have liked a tarter flavor.
3.5On tap at Good Beer NY. Pours dark golden color. Sour wheat aroma. malty then nice sour citrus flavor. And a delicate but sharp carbonation. Dry finish. Great for a sunny day.
3.0Bottled, clear golden yellow with soapy head, sweet and fruity aroma and flavor like so me kolsch with a touch of sour
3.5Bordering a Belgian witbier, this is a decent approximation of the Berliner weisse style. The tartness is there, in the background, not upfront like a Kindl Weisse. I’d like to try this with some of the German flavor syrups. Pale golden with thin foamy head (short-lived). Body is light, flavor is wheat bread with some citrusy tartness. Finish is slightly dry. Refreshing on a hot day.
3.0Pours a golden yellow color with a small white head. Aroma it’s sour wheat, grass, and old hay. The taste is slightly sour, very thin, and ends with a little funky wheat, barnyard taste. Interesting.
2.622 oz. bottle served in a shaker- poured a transparent rail thin yellow color, solid medium high carbonation, a few whisps of white upon the liquid surface for a head with a few frog eyes for good measure. Aroma of dusty and musty wheat, and maybe some lemon. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt tries to tastes like pure sunshine but it got lost even before it hit the atmosphere, finish is tart, slightly sweet, and a fart worth of sour. It’s ok- nothing worth getting naked about.
3.2(bottle from Sparky, thanks E!) Pours a clear light gold color with streams of carbonation and thin white head which retains well. Aroma holds plenty of wheat, light funk, must, and apples. Flavor holds some light lemon zest, white wine-esque acidity mixed with mineral water, Granny Smith apple skin, and a healthy dose of wheat on the end which gets slightly buttery in the far finish. Mouthfeel is light and spritzy. This beer was pleasant to drink on what’s been a quite hot and humid day.
3.5Pours a cloudy pale golden with one finger of white head. Nose is tart and apple-y with some grainy notes. A hint of wet hay and feet/socks comes through but very subdued (compared to others I’ve had....). Very light and dry with a sessionable tartness on the finish. Interesting flavor. Hard to describe, some raw noodle character and a bright apple skin acidity.
3.522oz bottle. Slightly hazy yellow with a small, fizzy, white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon, peach and light lactic acid. Flavor is tart lemon, lactic, with a light malt sweetness and faint bitterness. Light body with a crisp finish. Pretty nice beer, very light like it should be but with a good amount of flavor.
3.522 oz bottle- Pours pale golden with a one finger head that reduces to a thin blanket. Aroma is lemony, grassy, some spice. The taste is thirst quenching, lemon lime, slightly tart, grassy, bread. Body is thin and carbonation is medium. Overall nice summer thirst quencher, nothing much more.
