3.9LTD No. 3 is probably my favorite of the series. First off I love sterling hops. Sweet bready malts mingle with a delightfully herbaceous aroma. Nice malty body with a crisp finish, what’s not to like? The Sterlings are well represented making this a summer favorite for mine.
3.7Floral, herbal hops, and sweet, bready malt aroma. Floral, fruity, herbal hop flavor. Light, sweet malt flavor, with grainy Pilsner aftertaste. Moderate bitterness.
6/2013: Light aroma: sweet, herbal, light fruit and grain. A little seaweed-ish or something. Sweet malt flavor, with subtle pilsner grain in the finish. Herbal, spicy, light fruity hops a/o yeast, and light bitterness.
3.9Yellow clear pour with a slight foamy white head. Smells of orangey grass hops and slightly of apple juice-tangy. Tastes of whole wheat bread spicy grapes. Really nice medium body and creamy mouthfeel. Bitterness is slight and tang is still there. out of the park good.
3.2Bottle. 4/16/13. Pours a pale, translucent green-yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is bread, wheat, some citrus, banana, fruit. Taste is crisp, refreshing; earthy, grass, citrus, some spiciness, floral; gentle citrus finish. A summer beer. Mouth feel is watery, soft. Some light lacing. Carbonation is medium-high; it works. Surprisingly falvorful, light, refreshing; nearly sessionable. I liked it.
3.012 oz bottle. Golden/light copper and clear with an off-white head and light patchy lacing. Floral, grassy aroma with spicy hops, dried fruit and toasted grains. Soft light body with a crisp and clean feel. The flavor is similar to the aroma, with some earthiness and light citrus. Solid pilsener
3.3Going from memory. I got this for a good price locally. The aroma contains caramel, cereal notes and a bit of citrus. Good body. This was an enjoyable pilsener.
2.6Malty aroma with floral notes. Pours a light golden color with light head with high amount of carbonation. Light, very malty flavor with light smooth finish. Not much complexity but a refreshing light beer.
3.1Bottle pours golden with a white top. Scent is musty and bready. Taste is grass and bread.
3.2Bottle. Pours with the visuals of any macrolager out there ... golden, bubbly, and topped with white foam. The aroma hints at some amped up woody hops. This drinks with a medium malt base, moderately bready, topped with a snap of grass to finish it off. Easy drinker. (#4932, 1/23/2013)
3.2Poured form a 12 ounce bottle.
Aroma: honey, sweet pilsner malts
Appearance: clear golden/straw
Taste: honey, sweet pilsner malts, fruity/floral hops
Palate: light and easy drinking
Overall: a well made beer that is not very interesting
2.012oz bottle, from Party Source. Clear golden color, thin white head. Decent lace. Bready nose, light tart, sweet zest, some sourness. Little lemon peel. Little citrus hops. Pronounced carbonation. Lighter body. Not what I’d call smooth. Light bite, even. Not terrible, but not easy to drink, and intensely forgettable
2.812oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a half finger white head. Good carbonation leads to a long lasting head with a minimal bit of lacing.
Aroma is a mix of flowers and steamed vegetables. There is also a solid bready malt base that is very appealing and pilsener-like.
Everything goes wrong on the flavor. It’s like eating a huge pile of cooked vegetables. The DMS is off the charts! It overpowers the floral hops and the malt is barely able to sneak through. It becomes about the only thing noticeable about the beer and that is not good. Mouthfeel is very watery with an odd sharp, almost metallic, bitterness.
Overall, not a good effort from Full Sail. I can tell there is possibly a good beer lurking underneath the off flavors but there is too much for it to overcome. One to avoid.
3.2August 15th, 2011 - My reviews of summer beers that are light, clear and crisp always do a great injustice to the style. An old Czech man who wiles away his times at breweries in bars in the country of his birth could probably tell you about the thousand different factors that make a good pilsner, but my training is grounded in ales. So, I try to supplement my descriptions with some image of back breaking labor or unpleasant sweating. But this isn’t fair just because I can’t pick out the differences between one, light, thirst quenching and well balanced beer from another. So, I’ll just be succinct and say that the Full Sail LTD Limited Edition Lager Recipe No. 3 is a great, light, quenching and well balanced beer. With its clear, golden color and a fuzzy, cotton head it looks the part, and smells the part too, with a clear mineral aroma and the light scent of malt, though it’s not pilsner malt per se. The flavor is delicate and mild, like a pale lager, but with more depth. The body is light and quenching with just enough carbonation to keep it interesting, and enough sugar to make this taste like an in-between meal treat. One finds clarity in the flavor mild acidity, and a general flavor profile that lends this to lawn mowing and lawn watching.
3.1Bottle. Poured orange/yellow with a big white head. Aroma is a little citrus, bread, and some minor spiciness. Taste is very spicy hops, touch citrusy and more grain/bread. Perhaps a bit past its prime, but ok nonetheless.
3.2Bottle. Pours a crystal clear golden color with a thin head. Smell is faint, but I can get just a hint of the floral hops they mention. Very smooth and crisp. Taste is only slightly malty, and allows very subtle flavors to play in this beer.
3.2Location/Date:Bottle on November 7, 2012.
Appearance: Pours a clear gold.
Aroma: Aroma of bready malt. No hop aroma.
Taste: Light bitterness, bready malt, maybe biscuit flavor.
Palate:Light body, nice amount of carbonation.
Summary: A solid pilsner but not amazing. My pour doesn’t match the picture, so unsure why.
2.712 oz bottle pours clear golden with a fluffy, white head. Aaaand it’s oxidized. Aroma and flavor of cereal grain, light hops, and dominated by cardboard. Bummer.
3.0Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Clean grainy base, with lighter flowery notes. Standard middle-of-the-road craft pils.
3.2Pours clear gold with white head. Strong aroma of banana, and surprising taste of toasted malts - highly unusual in a pilsner. Pretty good.
3.9Tasty! This is what I hoped for when I opened the bottle. Crisp indeed. Good choice of hops balanced nicely by a slight malt body...reasonably dry. A good brew.
1.2Possibly the worst "COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION" ever. Have come to be disappointed (yet tempted enough by the $1.00 price at Trader Joes) by Full Sail. Odd soapy head ( from me pouring from a height to get a head). Amazing aroma-less. All better than expected from there out. Solid(ish) malt. Palate that isn’t horrible. Overall isn’t crap. A Full Sail victory. I hope that one day they make an amazing beer and all my talking crap about them is wrong. I want to love these guys, for some reason!
3.012oz screwtop bottle. Pours a light golden yellow with a white head. Nothing special here. Looks, tastes and smells like a typical macro though slightly more drinkable. I guess it’s OK for the style but I was expecting more. Oh well.
3.9Nice lager. Light and crisp. I would never choose this over the pale ale, but its still a very decent beer. Light in appearance, full in flavor. Light fruit and light bread.
3.0Kind of a floral-dough skunk aroma. Usual pils yellow color. Rough bitter taste with, what’s this now? - a bit of corn. Sharp, crisp palate feel. Okay pils, but to be honest a disappointment for Full Sail.
3.2Bottle. Poured clear yellow color with an average to large white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate floral hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.
3.3Clear yellow pour with frothy white head and nice lacing. Toasty grain aroma and a little richness to it. Flavor is light and refreshing, a little sweet. A slight bitter finish, faint. Some burned corn. A little bit of funkiness which is unexpected. Maybe I’m searching for something exciting here but it is an above average pils.
3.0Clear gold pour. Pilsner malt on the nose, muted hops there too. Tongue is strangely bitter. Finish is malt and hops really dry out the end. OK.
3.4355ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a finger and a half of white head with decent retention settling to leave some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light citrus with some floral notes and light toast. Taste is well balanced between the malty sweetness and hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with some nice carbonation. An easy drinking, but still full flavored pilsener, which is quite enjoyable. Well crafted.
3.9Crystal clear golden with a pale white head. Crisp bright hop with a soft biscuity malt. Smooth and clean
2.9Tap in Hood River. Clear gold, white head. Smells like a meadow. Taste is herbal, citrus and a bit o’ honey.
