3.5 Robe ambrée rousse. Mousse blanc cassé faible mais tenace. Nez caramel, toffee, réglisse, canelle, fruits secs, plum pudding. Bouche moyennement amère, caramel, biscuit et épices. Bonne carbo, corps moyen, longueur assez courte.
4.4 Caramel, ashes... Beautiful flavors...
3.3 Botella de 50 cl. Color rojizo, espuma color crema y retención media. Apariencia cristalina pese a tener algún poso. Aromas a galleta, cereal y frutos secos, caramelo, algo de licor. Sabor suave (me lo esperaba más fuerte), malta tostada, pasas, ligero licor en fondo. Buena.
4.0 Amber, hazy, off white beer head, thin and frothy foam, ok retention. Toffee, tobacco, caramel and earthy, malty sweetness, toasted bread, beautiful drinkability.
4.1 Botella 50 cl.
3.2 500ml bottle in 2013. Clear deep golden with a thin white head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and floral hops. Malty forward beer, with a full body.
4.1 500ml bottle brewed in London at 6.3%. Reddish brown amber. Very large head, dissipating at average speed, leaving a persistent froth. Alcohol present in the aroma along with roasted malts. Low carbonation (bottle conditioned, after all). A beer in the same vein as Hobgoblin and Bishop's Finger, but much smoother than the first and punchier and more complex than the latter. A very fine strong Ruby ale. Rich, powerful toasted brown-bready malt, creamy smooth mouthfeel, notes of caramel, metallic bitterness that doesn't overstay its welcome; sweetness and bitterness really playing off each other alongside a lingering warmth from that 6.3% ABV. There's elusive hidden depths to this beer too, for those who look for them - not uncommon for bottle conditioned beers. A real flavour to savour, but conversely, not an everyday drink at all, although it slips down mighty easy. A boozy spiced fruitcake style beer that brings the booze much more than the fruitcake. Fuller's tends to produce beers that exude quality, and this is no exception.
3.5 Lakrids, let bitterhed, god fylde
4.4 Bottle, 50 cl at The Bishop's Arms, Helsingborg. Overall a splendid ale: well balanced, smooth, ABV perfectly tuned.
4.8 Fruity aroma and malty taste. Nice alcohol for strong pale ale. Famous beer!!
3.7 Bottle, amber color with a medium off white head. Notes are caramel malt, fig, toffee, dried fruit, and bread. Balanced pretty well with some hops being notices in the slight bitterness. Medium bodied and carbonated. Would like to try on cask
3.5 Bottle at The Swan Hotel, Arundel (Fullers) Pours a clear deep amber to copper brown colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, some fruitcake, a little orange and subtle spicy hops. Taste of caramel, some fruitcake, a little orange, brown sugar and subtle spicy hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A sweetish, caramel and fruitcake finish. Fullers description is pretty much right, rich fruitcake flavours with a little citrus and spice. On the sweet side though.
2.7 Bottle from Sainsbury’s. From previous notes 5 years ago: “... nice first taste but then v bitter and metallic. Unpleasant finish. Don’t buy again.” I discovered this review after I’d bought it again (duh), but original thoughts still apply, apart from the metallic bit...
3.4 some sweet bread and light fruit it is moderate in body and smooth with a bit of scratch and light Golden malt in flavor. a touch of caramel and spicy sweet it finishes in fancy fruit.
4.0 Dark caramel with a walnutty bitter finish. Lovely ale thats quiet punchy both in flavour and av.

3.8 Bottle Pours headless amber. Malty with caramel on a nose. Tastes malty, medium bitter, alcohol quite high. Full bodied. Tasty, really.
4.0 Fruitcake sweet aroma, wonderful biscuity malt flavours, with sweet raisin. Slightly spicy hop finish.
3.4 Jason's at 101 Taipei. Bottle. Deep amber with a thin cream foamed head that lasts. The nose is fruit cake.....By that I mean dark fruit and Christmas cake. As with these style of beers drinking ice cold is not recommended. I get malt, dark fruits, nuts and such a dark satisfying yeasty bread flavour. The warmer it got ( I had it chilled) the more the flavour improved. This is up there with the other top Fullers beers. Very good....and despite the ABV, not boozy at all.
4.2 From bottle, various tastes. Dark amber with small light beige head. Aroma is is bready and yeasty. Tastes very malty, somehow it gives huge amounts of crystal malt flavours without overpowering sweetness. When kept for a couple of months or more it does mellow some of the 'fruitcake' flavours. Surprisingly hoppy finish, rather bitter but the English hops balance the huge maltiness nicely. For a beer of this ABV it delivers flavours few others in its class can match. A really special beer.
3.7 500 ml bottle. Murky brown, fluffy head. Maple syrup, pine honey, grapefruit, herbal notes, metallic notes, toffee, nuts. Malty sweetness, dry metallic bitterness. Full bodied, oily slick texture, low to soft carbonated, dry malty finish. Good!
3.5 500ml bottle. Dark amber colour with off-white head. Big sweet malt, metallic, peach, light orange peel, brown bready, metallic stone fruit, light molasses, brown sugar, light booze, mandarin, apricot, light dark fruit, light nutty, toffee, orange pith, iron. Dry finish. Too metallic, otherwise nice, didn't enjoy it as much as most people on rb as usual with me and Fuller's beers.
3.3 Bottle from Systembolaget. Color is brown with a medium brown head. Taste is brown bread and hops. Nice and sweet aftertaste
3.9 Bottle from Waitrose. Dark amber appearance with foamy white head. Aroma is malty and roasted, hints of wood and nuts. Flavour is roasted, bitter and dried fruits.
3.4 Thhis is the prototypical english ale that all others should be based on. It’s not my favourite style, but it is a malt forward beer. I imagine that fresh it would be a full step higher in quality. D &s dresden
3.9 500ml bottle. Pours a clear red-copper with a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of toasted caramel malt, toffee, bread, raisin, fig, dried red apple, honey and nuts. Sweet flavour of toasted caramel malt, bread, raisin, honey, nuts, metal, ash and light spice with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Excellent, a world class ESA.
3.2 500ml glass bottle, best before 01.09.2020. Had been in fridge for around 30mins before being poured into a pint glass. Seems like the appropriate choice of drink for an evening it’s -1 and snowing outside. The beer pours a rich mahogany colour with one finger of tanned pillowy head. The head reduces to a thin layer which leaves inconsistent lacing. Carbonation appears minimal. The aroma is very malty, slight alcohol presence, dark dried fruit. The taste in the mouth is actually a bit undetermined considering the aroma. Malty. Dried dark fruit. Very easy to understand why the commercial description and many reviews mention fruit cake. The aftertaste is roasted malts with burnt bread at the back of the palate. The mouth is left dry like after drinking a fortified wine. With lots of alcohol warmth. Good for a cold winter night. But feels as if it would be too boozey for the rest of year when you consider that some of the stronger Trappist ales can easily be enjoyed at the height of summer.
4.2 Aroma: caramel, toffee, honey, flower, orange marmalade Appearance: mildly hazy reddish-brown color topped with a three-finger tan head with nice retention. nice lacing Taste: caramel, toffee, honey, orange marmalade, floral hop, dried fruit, medium sweetness, medium bitterness Palate: medium-full body, soft carbonation, very nice dryness in the finish, medium alcohol warming. Overall: It showcases a nice combination of caramel-ey malt, fruity yeast, floral hop and delicious dryness, and is somewhat reminiscent of a condensed version of London Pride. Classic English strong ale !
4.0 Creamy off white head stayed on an unclear light brown still body. Caramel & malt aroma. Medium to full bodied, very creamy on the palate & a tickly clean back. Dark chocolate, coal, faintly smoked, peat & caramel tastes with a bitter pithy citrus finish
3.5 Maltaisen tuhti.
