Fuller's Bengal Lancer

Fuller's Bengal Lancer

Cask: Regular (but not permanent). Also available bottle conditioned (at 5.3%).

Bengal Lancer is a traditional India Pale Ale, pale amber in colour, distinctively hoppy and highly refreshing. It’s notable for floral and spicy notes from the hops, and a finish of mild bitterness.

A version of Bengal Lancer is brewed specifically for the export market, known simply as Fuller’s India Pale Ale.

3.4 Cask at The Vansittart Arms. Medium amber with small creamy head. Light malty aroma gets much fuller (no pun intended) in the taste. Caramel, brown bread. Light sweet notes.
2.7 Cask at The Dove, Hammersmith, London, UK. Poured a crystal clear amber with a 1cm white open foam head that laced poorly. Aroma quite bland, maybe a bit of malt; not what I normally associate with an IPA which are quite aronatic. Taste is malty and more tart than bitter. Light body. Smooth and slightky dry with a slightly tart finish.
3.2 Aroma: flower, honey, caramel, pine. Appearance: mildly hazy amber color with a two-finger beige head and lots of bubbles coming up. Taste: caramel, little flower and herb, some pine. medium sweetness, medium bitterness in the finish. Palate: medium body, medium carbonation, long smooth dryness in the finish Overall: I am not sure if this bottle is poorly conditioned as it tastes quite different from the last one I had which gave me an impression of a well-balanced highly-drinkable English IPA.
3.9 Any differences between this beer and Fuller's India Pale Ale strike me as exceedingly minimal. Neither are flamboyant... which means they will probably disappoint some people used to aroma bombs. But while appreciating many of the latter, I also retain a liking for a more traditional and gentler approach to the IPA concept (very much including this brew).
3.6 Aromas of fruits, marmelade and hints of caramel, malt, grass and citrus. Golden with a white head. Medium sweet and medium + bitter. Medium body with average carbonation. Overall a plesant IPA. A well balanced, easy drinkable and quite refreshing brew.
3.3 Copenhagen 4/10 2018. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. As "Fuller's India Pale Ale, Bottle Conditioned". ABV of 5,3. Purple and ornamental label. Pours slightly hazy orange with big, bubbly, white head. Settles s thin but frothy layer of foam clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate lacing. Aroma is pretty subdued. Light sweetish fruit, light metallic odor. Malty caramel. Light carbonation Slightly thick, soft texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is medium bitter. Lingers shortly. A fairly civilized IPA which is nicely bitter without being excessive.
3.2 Gold/orange thin white head a bit non descript in taste and aroma maybe honey dew melon bit of spice in the finish a good beer to go with curry.
4.9 I am not very good at describing taste but cask conditioned this is the best ale I have ever had! There is a distinct difference between cask and bottle with this ale. It is seasonal from Fuller's in cask, you'll find it around January.
3.5 500ml bottle from Bochka in Moscow at 5.3% ABV. Pours almost clear orange with a tall off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, oranges, pine. Taste is light bitter, slightly spicy, pale malt, caramel, light sweet.
3.0 Prakticky tady přidávám tento komentář, jen aby tady něco bylo, protože zpětně dopisuji 900 piv z mého seznamu a asi bych se musel u toho zbláznit.
3.2 500ml bottle. As Fuller's India Pale Ale (Bottle Conditioned 5.3%) Pours a hazy gold-orange with a medium, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces nicely. Mild, sweet aroma of caramel malt, biscuit, floral and orange. Sweet flavour of biscuit malt, caramel, orange, peach and light pine needles with a dry, bitter, spicy hop finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not too shabby.
3.0 Bottle, as Bottle conditioned India Pale Ale (5,3%). Slightly hazy, light amber. Frothy white head. Aroma is hops, dried fruit. Unpleasant mineralic taste. Quite flat.
3.6 500ml bottle bought at Waitrose. Malty ale, slightly hoppy (English standard) and nice body
3.8 Bottle. Pours light amberish with a slight haze and a white tight head. Aroma is light citrus, tangerine, fruitty and flowery. Pleasent fruitty esters in the nose. Flavour is tangerine, fruitty, orangey, caramel, sweet, honey. Medium carbonation, velvety/soft mouthfeel and sublte bitterness. Good IPA and a very good English IPA at that. Would have again.
3.3 500ml bottle shared with a friend. Pours cloudy with a thin-fast settling frothy head, heavy lacing but no bead. Mid amber in colour. Yeast aroma with hints of floral perfume and fruit. In the mouth, smooth in texture, releasing flavours of bread and cereal with notes of perfume, flowers and fruit, medium bitterness and scarcely a hint of sugar. Overall, an older style of IPA without intense citrus flavours, but nevertheless very enjoyable.
2.6 Backlog. Wygląd: jasny zlocisty lekko metny Zapach: slody w tle lekki chmiel. Smak: mandarynka, cytrusy, herbata. Slody
3.7 Bottle from Damian. Nice soft aroma of caramel and hops, clear amber colour with small lacing white head. Rich taste, hops, citruses, caramel, light sweet, medium bitterness, soft carbonation, pleasant sweet and bitter finish.
3.3 Bottle at The Beehive, Battersea/Wandsworth (not sure where the boundary is). Nil aroma. A hazy amber. The white head soon fades. Medium bitter. Gets quite sharp. Some hidden sweetness. Light bodied. Slick. Flat. Long dry finish. Better than I expected. Unexpectedly hippy. A bit flat though.
3.3 gold colour. not much head. floral and earthy smell. taste is biscuity sweet front earthy and grassy. nice
3.4 Bottle. Nice slight caramel aroma. An incredibly gluggable ale that went down a treat as a taste of both home and fullers. Sometimes a little sharp on the alcohol.
3.4 Bottle at home with a balti curry. Possibly over chilled, but a smooth IPA with lots of bitter hops and a balanced maltiness. It complemented the curry perfectly, caressing the palate after the heat of the spices. Screw the Cobra, this is what I should be having in the future with my curry!
3.2 500ml bottle from The Co-op, Reading. Amber Colour with large white head, nice lacing. Big grass, herbal hops, sweet grassy malt, chlorine, swimming pool.
3.1 0.5 bottle. Medium intensity malt and grass aroma. Medium bitterness. Malt, not a lot of English hops and spices in taste. English IPA
2.5 Lätt disig orange kulör med ett litet skum. Krämig parfym-/tvåldoft. Torr och kärv smak, lite lätt metallisk, kemisk citrus och apelsinmarmelad. Halvfyllig, ointressant kropp. Eftersmaken är halvlång och aning metallisk.
3.5 Aroma - flowers and fruits, floral hop, sweet citrus, some caramel, honey and some notes of belgian yeasts. Taste - bitter, predominantly floral, with lot of malt, honey, some sweet fruits and honey, yeast. Very floral and good!
3.4 Amber colour with light brown head, wich immediately disappear. Very mild aroma, you can detect only some herbal, grassy notes. Similar as aroma is flavor: mild notes of hops, with grassy, herbal character, well balanced with maltiness, which have biscuit like character. Firstly is sweet, with bitter finish. Body is medium, soft carbonation and bitterness. Classical english style IPA.
3.8 Bottle, 50 cl, bought at Fuller’s, Heathrow T2. Pleasant IPA, well balanced and reasonably bitter finish.
3.6 Bottled as India Pale Ale. Light amber, dense white head. Earthy, fruity, floral. Smooth mouthfeel, medium carbonation, pleasurable bitterness.
3.5 Bottle 500 ml at The George & Devonshire, Chiswick. Aromas of malts, caramel and hoppy berry notes. Clear amber body with fluffy white head. Taste is bitter with caramel, berry fruitiness, citrus and malts. Good IPA with well balanced bitterness.
