Fuller's Vintage Ale 2010

Fuller's Vintage Ale 2010

I have crafted the 2010 Vintage with the highest quality Tipple malted barley for the second year running. This ale’s main hop character is derived from traditional Golding and Fuggles hops and further enhanced with Dry Hopping, using a blend of the choicest Golding and Target hops. Coupled with the unique Fuller’s yeast strain we expect this beer to mature into another ’Classic’ Vintage! 125,000 bottles produced

4.0 Amber color, beige head. Dark malts and caramel on the aroma. Taste has dried fruits like figs and dates and also some caramel. Smooth mouthfeel.
3.5 Flasche (Nr. 35342, 50 cl), 5 Jahre daheim gelagert. Fuller’s 1845 schmeckt mir wesentlich besser.
4.2 Bottle pint with batchnumber: 51734: Clear brown colored brew with an burned character and smoothly sweet bitter taste, hints of peaches, some caramel and spices.
3.4 Foggy burnt orange, no head. Aroma is cotton candy, caramel, peaches. Fruity and floral. Taste is more grainy than the aroma. More of a white wine thing going on too. Body is not too heavy. Might even want it heavier. A little hot. "Easier Drinking" than I expected - not what I would hope for with something like this.
3.8 Dark amber hazy with white head. Aroma: toffee, spicy herbs, some roasted notes. Taste: moderate sweet with some spicy hoppy bitterness. Flavour: malt, bisquits, some earth, cheese, wood. Grassy bitterness and some wet wood and earth in the aftertaste. This is very good but below expectations.
2.9 Bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, light hops, some caramel, and more sweetness. Flavor the same with sweet malts and dark fruits and light hops. Average texture. Not great.
3.1 Bottle (500 ml). Split 4-ways. Cloudy amber-copper with a medium tan head, moderate retention, leaving some lacing. Aroma is quite earthy, but balanced by toffee, herbal spiciness, toasted notes and a bit of alcohol. Taste starts ok and slightly sweet followed by herbal spiciness and toffee, ending by a strong earthy bitterness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. A bit oily mouthfeel. Strong lingering earthy finish. Maybe it’s just because it’s too old, but the earthy bitterness is overpowering everything else so the enjoyability is moderate at best.
Riktigt gott. Tack Daniel!

4.4 Bottle from Waitrose, Hexham. 2010: Drank 2015-08-09, Aged for approx. 5 years; Dark hazy red-amber coloured with a sweet and slightly tart red fruity flavour, almond, sherry, cherry and vanilla followed by burnt currants on the boozy, dry, fruity finish. Nice!
4.8 caramel / malts, smells amazing and packs a punch with a warm body and some nice dark fruit.
3.8 (Fuller’s Vintage Ale 2010) 540 ml bottle if my conversion was done right, No 51795, served into a snifter at home, ABV 8.5% Bright orange to red colour on the body, mostly clear. Something more than one fonger of thick, light tan head on top, with average retention, leaving light lacing behind. Aroma has light caramel, dates, raisins, sugar, wood, malts, some alcohol after a deep sniff. Sweet taste, plenty of dark fruits, lots of dates, plums, stewed red fruits too, sugars, berries, english style hops albeit stale, some alcohol on the finish, first signs of oxidation. Medium to thick body, nicely carbonated. Quite dry on the palate. Very good, I’ll have next year’s vintage a bit sooner though.
3.8 Feb.18. 2015. Very pleasant strong malty aroma, with notes of dried fruits. Medium tan head, clear copper colour. Medium sweet and malty taste, with bitterness surfacing later. The bitterness isn’t too pleasant though - just plain bitter, even a bit acrid. Full body, thick and slick mouthfeel, long bittersweet finish. Overall a nice English strong ale, only the bitterness seems a bit off.
3.9 Pours dirty brown with a small white fizzy head that quickly disappears. Aroma is raisin and sweet caramel malts. Taste is sweet barley, light hops and slight caramel and toffee.
3.6 500 ml bottle # 043867. Clear medium copper, fine lasting tan foam. Spiced caramel malt aroma. Taste is bolder toasted caramel malt, some toffee and vanilla, fruity hints, slightly floral and herbal, more than a bit boozy, smooth. Softer carbonation, medium-full bodied, moderately hopped. A more intense vintage. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)
4.2 Bottle no, 7945 purchased from the brewery. Poured well with good carbonation. Clear amber colour and white head. Hints of baked bread and peeled orange. Two years ago it was very fizzy so looking forward to my next bottle in 2016.
3.6 500 ml bottle. #077348. Courtesy of olio. The Grand Vintage Tasting. Cloudy amber colour with a small frothy off-white head. Sugary sweetness, alcohol, berry hops, mild bitterness and some malt in the aroma. The flavour is... a bit raw? Is it possible? Hops, mild bitterness, dark fruits, sweetness and some alcohol in the flavour.
3.6 Purchased at the LCBO, back in the day when it came out. Best before end 2013, bottle No. 078279. Pours a slightly hazy honey-amber colour with a frothy beige head, good retention and lots of foamy lacing. Aromas of fruitcake with raisins, oranges and nuts. Mild toffee with a little alcohol. Mildly dry mouthfeel. The flavours are better blended with dates, caramel malts, hints of minty grass and pepper. Kind of a lingering feel of eating a unripened banana. Pretty nice overall and seems a little milder than older versions.
4.0 Very dark amber colour with a big off white head. Bready and nutty malty aroma with lemon and melon. Full, warming body. Really nice bready and sweet flavour along with lemon, orange, brown sugar, mandarin. Delicious.

3.7 Bottle at Craig?s. Pours amber, nose is caramel and berries, taste is thin, toffee, cardboard, bitter. 3.5 Bottle at nick's. Pours orange, nose is vanilla, raisin, caramel, taste is similar, chewy, little sherry like. 3.7
3.6 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours amber with a thin white head. Aromas of marmalade, candied peel, Christmas. taste is light sweet, quite fizzy, dark brown sugar. Sticky finish.
4.1 Bottled from biernavigatie.nl, bottle number 51851, tasted in 2014 (i.e. 4 years old). Hazy orange/amber colored, small off-white head. Nose of caramel malt and English hop varieties, some spices, orange, and a hint of Christmas pudding. Hopbitter flavor, surprising considered both the style and age, caramel malts, typical Fuller’s Vintage Ale flavor, probably the yeast strain, alcohol presence, some fruity esters, Christmas pudding again. Lasting bittersweet finish. Not the best of the Vintage series, but still i really enjoyed finishing the bottle. Great stuff, which perhaps i should have aged for a few years more.
3.8 Amber colour, clear, no head, fruity orangey malty aroma. Taste of fruitcake, a bit sticky, hops, caramel malt. Nice, but cloys a bit more than the 2012.
3.8 7-27-14 poured from bomber. Nice smooth malty flavor. Medium mouthfeel. Bready aroma with some alcohol. 9.4 joshk. 9.2 bd
Interessant bier.
3.5 Fles gedeeld met rikstar. Koperkleurig helder met fijne kraag. Aroma is alcohol, zoet fruit.
4.3 Hazy orange, complex fruity and malty flavor and aroma, very smooth. Can taste target, fuggles and Golding hops. Great beer, more like a cognac than Golden Pride. Will try it again, definitively.
3.7 Copper in colour with a moderate off-white head, good lacing. The aroma is of alcohol, some vanilla, caramel malts and even a bit of liquorice. The flavour is of light alcohol, some chocolate, caramel malt sweetness, moderate bitterness. Lightly sweet mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long and sweet with some alcohol warmth. Its good but like all the Vintage Ales the do get better after a few years.
