Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in the Park

Funky Buddha Last Buffalo in the Park

This Imperial version of our Last Snow porter is a rich, thick, decadent treat. Pitch black and viscous, it’s made with coconut and fresh roasted coffee. We then age it in Bourbon barrels for months to accentuate the vanilla and coconut notes. Originally brewed in collaboration with our friends at Park Tavern in Delray Beach.

4.2 Shared at Greg's 'Plants and Animals Bottle Share' in sampler glasses, it poured an opaque black with thicky beige foam, lasting with lace. True-to-style Imperial Stout base (malty, caramelly, bready, nutty, toasty, very roasty) plus strong vanilla, coconut, marshmallowy new oak, boozy but no hot fusels. Interesting fruity/green peppery coffee contribution. Full body, moderate carbonation, lingering multi-layered bittersweet aftertaste. Very good.
4.1 Bottle. Pours black with small brown head. Aroma of coffee and coconut with dark chocolate malt. Slightly sweet with some coconut and roasted malt character. Full bodied. Quite nice.
3.9 Black pour, brown head. Great aroma and flavor: rich chocolate, booze, some roast, vanilla, oak, coconut, and bourbon.
4.8 Opaque black beer with a slight beige head. Heavy aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Cream, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee. 10/5/10/4
4.4 All coconut. Can taste the shavings. Rich and smooth body, with undertones of bourbon and cream beneath dark chocolate and mocha. Yummy.
4.4 Dark brown with a brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coconut, vanilla, coffee, alcohol and dark fruit. Taste is medium/heavy sweet and medium/heavy bitter.
4.2 Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes and some bourbon notes are also perceptible. Taste is a mix of chocolate notes with some bourbon notes, light vanilla with some residual sugar notes. Body is full with nice oily texture with some creamy notes, good carbonation and no real alcohol is perceptible. Greta porter with nice depth and complexity, good drinkability with just the right amount of residual sugar notes.
4.5 Przy wielu przeciętnych, czy przereklamowanych, a nawet wadliwych piw Funky Buddah - Last Buffalo in the Park wyraźnie się wyróżnia. W aromacie i smaku prażone płatki kokosowe, palona kawa, ciemne owoce, drewno i beczka po bourbonie. Fajne, głębokie kokosowe posmaki. Sporo ciała. Bardzo smaczne.
3.9 A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with nutty notes, vanilla, alcohol warmth, perfumy. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt with cherries, vanilla, coconut, creamy character, very nice. Bottle at Total Wine, Pushkinwows Diabetes dessert stout tasting, March 2019.
4.7 Outstanding.
4.1 Taster at Tapworks. Pours black, with a small, persistent, tan head. The aroma is vanilla, toasted coconut, bittersweet chocolate, cinnamon, pine, and oak. Very sweet, and a little boozy, and a touch bitter. Very heavy body, with a syrupy, creamy mouthfeel. This is a decadent, delicious beer.
4.3 Bottle @ Odense Ratebeer Get Together - missing the hoarders, Early Winter 2019. Pours black with a small creamy beige head and lacings. MBCC Trade 2018. Massive coconut, bounty bar, palm oil, vanilla, chocolate. Full bodied. Intense, smooth and rich. Slick and sweet but overly loveable. Another top 50 winged off!
3.9 Odense Ratebeer Get Together - missing the hoarders, Early Winter 2019. Black with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of bounty bar, dark chocolate with nice vineous booze. Very sweet, roasted flavour with extreme coconut and hints of vanilla and booze.
1.0 God awful
4.0 Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has coconut and coffee with dark grains, roasted malts and bourbon underlying. Flavor has a combination of dark grains, coconut and bourbon with roasted malts and a bit of coffee backing.
3.2 The coconut flavor is overpowering and dilutes any porter notes. The sweetness built from the bourbon barrels accentuates the forceful coconut flavor and over sweetens this brew.
4.1 Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). This batch is 11.5% abv. Looks good; a lightly translucent very dark (almost dull black) cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes RICH and malty with loads of toasted coconut up front, followed by big notes of chocolate, oak, coffee, and a bit of vanilla. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, pleasantly bitter, and mildly to moderately warming. Decadent and delicious.
4.0 1130/18 - Tallahassee, Fl o tap at Proof. Pitch black, mocha head, bubbly lace. Coconuts and chocolate aroma. Bold flavor, baker's unsweetened chocolate, coconut, a touch of anise seed, about the level of booziness expected for the ABV, but not a detractor. Sticky, thick mouthfeel.
4.4 Pours a dark brown to black in color... velvety pour... Aroma of banana boat, dark chocolate, coconut, light coffee... Flavor is rich chocolate, dark roasted malts, tons of coconut, light coffee with lingering coffee bitterness on palate... Delicious

4.4 Bottle at bumba. Aroma of thick coconut bounty, chocolate, caramel fudge and oak. Taste of rich sweet coconut, milk chocolate, oak, bourbon, caramel fudge and a long finish. Amazing coconut bourbon bomb.
4.4 Poured from bottle in trade with solidfunk dated 11/28/17 black brown with a cocoa head. Aroma is chocolate coconut light roasted coffee. Taste is insanely good viscious creamy chocolate coconut coffee notes nicely balanced. What a treat abv is so hidden. This is a dangerous beer.
4.1 Bottle at Craigs, many many thanks, no head, opaque black color, aroma of vanila, coconut, chocolate, hint of candy and some spiciness behind, same traits in flavor with the chocolate more pronounced and just a touch of shrubby bitterness. Very good, great fun.
4.4 650 ml bottle at Sanders place, bottled 27.11.2012, shared by Werckmeister, many thanks! Pours a red-brown with a tan colored head. The aroma is full of coconut flakes, chocolate, nuts, vanilla, bourbon and wood. Very creamy, full body with a soft carbonation, a medium to medium-heavy sweetness and a light bitterness. The flavor starts with sweet, roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, coconut, coffee and hazelnuts followed by some bourbon, vanilla and wood. Finishes with a roasty bitterness, nuts, coffee, more coconut and some bourbon. Excellent! Nice flavors of roasted malt blended with mild bourbon and vanilla. Maybe borderline to artificial but very smooth and with a really good balance. Aroma: 9 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 5 Overall: 18
3.4 Bottle from Attic 2 years anivers 2018-09-21 Göteborg AR: Cocos oil, cookies AP: dark brown, wee brown lid F: Cocos oil
4.3 650 ml bottle, bottled 11/27/17. Shared by Werckmeister, many thanks! Dark brown to black body, with a small, creamy, beige head. Lovely aroma of coconut, dark chocolate, chocolate fudge, toffee, vanilla, some coffee, moderate bourbon. Tastes also delicious, with similar aromas, more bourbon. Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a low carbonation. Finishes medium sweet, a bit roasty, with lingering coconut, chocolate, some wood, some bourbon, some vanilla. Delicious! Reminds of a coconut-chocolate bar, while still not too gimmicky, incredibly smooth to drink. Wonderful creaminess throughout, with just enough, balancing roastiness towards the finish. You propably have to have a bit of a sweet tooth for this, but this is another amazing one by Funky Buddha! Score: 9 / 4 / 9 / 4 / 17
4.1 0,66l bottle at Sanders place shared by me. Bottled 11/27/2017. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of coconut, earthy, bitter chocolate, parfumy, milk chocolate. lovely smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of coconut, vanilla, earthy, spices, bitter chocolate, coffee, peppery. finishes lightly sweet with notes of coconut, vanilla and some earthy notes. very nice one, but also a bit on the artifical side. overall very nice one.
3.9 Aroma of coconut, coffee, chocolate, light bourbon, caramel. Taste of caramel, milk chocolate, coconut. Really easy going and very drinkable. Not that bourbon forward.
3.7 Black pour with a thin beige head and light sticky lacing .... aroma of overwhelming coconut, cocoa, vanilla, bourbon, oak and roasted malts ..... taste is of coconut, toasted malts, cocoa, dry oak, sweet bourbon, vanilla, spices and boozy ..... some coffee notes .... sweet and sugary finish with coconut and dry oak ..... too sweet and way too Pina colada-ish over being an imperial porter
