Our search for the finest cocoa nibs brought us to the far corners of the earth. We tried them all: raw nibs from Guatemala; roasted jewels from the West Indies. But the most potent, intensely chocolatey ones we found hailed from the far-away reaches of Brazil. But there was one problem. We had to get them back. So with sacks in tow, we stole away with those precious nibs and smuggled them, along with fragrant Madagascar vanilla beans, deep into the reaches of a pitch black milk porter. And so, Nib Smuggler Chocolate Milk Porter was born.

3.5Pours mahogany tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet milk chocolate aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate and soy upfront turning to mild pumpernickel in the sharp, medium-length finish.
3.6Pours a dark brown with a thin mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, chocolate milk and marshmallows. Taste follows, a bit too thin but tasty nonetheless
3.1Pours a dark brown with red highlights. On top sits a white rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is of powdered cocoa, Quik. Taste is more dry powdered cocoa, chocolatey. Just too sweet and chocolatey for me, really. Body and carbonation are moderate. Really similar to Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout, I can confidently say that I would never crave it again. Meh.
3.8Pitch black pour with ruby highlights and a short beige head and decent retention. Minimal lacing. Clean and smooth dark roasted cocoa and malt flavors. 6.3 ABV is well hidden.
3.3Dark brown with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Roast, chocolate, vanilla, lactose, sweeter finish.
3.9Bottle. Dark brown pour with tan head. Chocolate, cocoa, roasted and lactose aromas. Flavors are sweet, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, lactose tones.
4.5I really like this beer! Dark pour with a tan head and good lacing. Strong aroma of chocolate malt that matches the flavor. Very smooth mouthfeel and the rich flavors are sweet and enjoyable.
3.5on tap at the ginger man, boston. unclear medium dark brown pour, orange tint, with a small reviving light beige cap offering some retention and lacing. cocoa powder, milk chocolate essence - artificial flavours; semi-sweet spicy chocolate, coconut, raspberry flavor, sweet coffee - lactose. moderately low carbonation, medium body - very oily; sweet boring yet very smooth finish. never subtle. always artificial and too sweet. whatever.
3.5Draught at the brewery on February 1, 2017.
Clear deep red to black color, tan head. Raisin, sweet, cacao taste. Sweet, malty aftertaste. Medium a bit fizzy mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Malty, chocolate scent.
4.0Bottle.
Black pour with a mocha head.
Aroma is of fresh brownie batter.
The flavor is milk chocolate.Tasty stuff.
3.8On tap at WOB in Destin. FB does dark beers exceptionally well. While not in my top five FB beers it is a strong entry other breweries would have as their flagship. Chocolate, vanilla, and what taste like a bit of Baileys Irish Cream invade your mouth. It could be more chewy, a bit thin for my taste.
3.7Some cocoa and caramel. Dark brown pour with decent head. Well mixed like blenders. Creamy consistency. Bittersweet finish. Roasty. Tap at World of Beer in Miami.
3.9Tap from House of Brewz in Fort Myers Beach. Roasted barley, wine and cocoa porter smell. Dark pour light head. Smooth body, roasted chocolate flavor with hops. Smooth and balanced. Really nice.
4.4From a bottle. This is a delicious beer, the cocoa is super smooth but it’s not overly sweet, one of my favourites.
4.2This was outstanding. Cola colored beer with a thin, off-white head. Aromas of coffee and milk chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate, some mild coffee, some toasted barley, and nice hints of vanilla. Kind of like chocolate milk. Silky smooth and easy to drink. Highly recommended beer.
3.9Funky Buddha Nib Smuggler taste just like a chocolate milk. Dark pour with quickly disappearing brown head. A little malt and chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet and chololately with definite presence of lactose. Pretty good. FB nails the description.
4.24 pack shared with my fairer half. Pours deep jet black, two finger sized khaki head. Lots of vanilla and cocoa. Full bodied but with a silky and creamy mouthfeel.
3.212 oz. bottled 11/20/2016. Nearly black body with a sizzling away head. Nose is rich dark chocolate, vanilla and cream. Tastes of sweet chocolate, dry cocoa and lactose. Little room for anything else. Near-medium body is almost cloying and has medium carbonation.
(Rating #7161)
4.4Dark black, no head. Hello dark milk chocolate. Loads of loads of milky dark chocolate. Velvet smooth. Vanilla is a nice touch. Thx Homer for the top 50 in my favorite style (Sweet stout).
3.8A bit thin, but otherwise a lovely cocoa forward, moderately roasty porter. Plesant would be the perfect word for this.
3.6A: Deep dark brown coloured with a thin light brown head N: Vanilla, maple syrup, milk chocolate, light coffee T: Maple syrup, vanilla, milk chocolate, almuminum foil O: Very promising nose to it, a bit dissapointing taste though. A strange metallic taste...? A bit thin mouthfeel.
2.512oz bottle, pours deep dark, brown frothy head, decent lacing. I definitely get the bitterness from the nib’s but this bottle had a very present medicinal, metallic taste to it. Possibly a spoiled bottle....bottled on 11/24/15 , consumed on 11/13/16.
3.1Bottle. Brown with a beige head. Milk chocolate, vanilla, wafer crisp, sweet, mild carbonation and moderate body, fairly smooth, little dry, somewhat chalky finish.
3.812 ounce bottle thanks to Beerman6686. Dark pour. Creamy head. Milk/lactose chocolate goodness.
3.9Bottle from Eric - thanks! Dark brown pour. Intense cocoa with some vanilla sweetness as well. Excellent.
4.012 oz bottle from Florida served in a goblet.
This is a classic dessert beer. It’s sweet but not cloying, with a very strong influence of cocoa nibs and moderate vanilla bean. The aroma features cocoa, subtle vanilla, dark bread, and a hint of coffee.
Overall: Good balance, lots of flavor and an enticing aroma. Worth seeking out.
3.8Sample at the "Post Beer Week Bottle Share" on 06/06/16. Pours a dark brown color with a medium creamy tan head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted malt, cocoa and vanilla coffee. The finish is sweet with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
2.5Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours with a huge amount of carbonation. The aroma and flavor are both muted. I did not expect this beer to be delicate. There are the chocolate notes, and creamy porter notes. The body is thin. I think this may have had an infection/wild yeast.
3.51 apt 2016, bottle. Brown. Nose is sweet, nutty, mild chocolate. Ned body and mildly fizzy. Nutty, dark, milk chocolate, some burnt notes. Nice enough.
