Fyne Ales Highlander

Fyne Ales Highlander

Cask; Regular. Also available filtered in bottle.
This is a strong traditional ale with intense malt flavours and a citrus hop aroma. A very smooth beer with a well-rounded, distinctly "moreish" finish.

3.4 Bottle. Amber color, off-white head. Malty, slighlty nutty and dark fruity notes in aroma. Dry. Bitter, malty and bit of sweet fruityneess in taste.
3.5 Dark blond colour with fluffy head. Aroma and flavour are malty and toasty with the toastiness bringing in a hint of coffee beans.
3.1 Cask at Northwich Beer Festival 2019. Pours an amber colour. Taste is quite toffee like. Quite a nice beer
3.8 0.5 l bottle from K-Citymarket Ruoholahti, Helsinki. A very much bitter-like ale. I expected more malt flavours. Don't get me wrong, though, this is a good one.
3.3 500ml bottle in Bier Halle. Copper colour with a good white head. Aroma is caramel and soft fruit, flavour is broadly similar, a little metallic to begin with. Not bad
3.3 Pours a golden color with white head. Sweet malty aroma and taste with a toasted earthy character. Notes: on cask at the Oban Inn, Scotland Jun ‘19
3.2 In good condition. Some soft toffee fills the palate out; classic ale notes; fruity finish. One of the better cash basics I've had on this trip.
3.8 Fyne Ales Highlander 4.8%. Pale amber, toffee aroma, light bodied, rye malt, toffee, citrusy finish. Pleasant ale from Achadunan
3.3 copper with no real head. fruity sweet malt aroma. taste is sweet, caramel and red fruits. easy drinking

3.3 Cask at Abbotsford. Clear amber. Nose is red fruits, light caramel. Tastes light bitter, fruits, hint of dried fruits and nuts. Ok.
3.1 Cask at the brewery, clear bronze colour, smallish creamy head, aroma of candy and cakey maltiness with a hint of light aromatic coffee, sweetish malty cakey, yeasty flavour, light bitterness. Nice,
2.9 Bottle. Pours crystal clear amber, foamy off white head. Aroma is deeply malty, some toast. The taste is a bit disappointing after that - good malt up front but then a bit metallic. It's thin (and strong ale? Nope). All in all a pretty ordinary bitter.
2.7 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours light brown , malty, little hops. Thin head. A little sweet for me. Hardly a strong ale at 4.8% ! Ok but not great.
2.9 Clear copper color, off-white lacing foam head. Bit weak in aroma, bit weak in taste. S Mostly barley. Still good beer. (Oban 201806)
3.6 Handpump at Luppolo Station in Rome. Copper clear pour, medium-“low compact off-white foam. Nose: pistachios, highlights of nut skin. Mouth is pretty watery, overall of roast hazelnuts, finish is a bit astringent.
3.8 Bottle (500 ml) bought at the brewery, at home in Aberfoyle. Amber color, beige small head. Very nice soft taste.
3.7 Cask pint at Ginger Man Boston, 6/21/17. Light amber-golden with a good clarity and medium-sized, beige head showing moderate retention. Light lemon and orange rind in the nose is in the first impression, succeeded by fresh yeast character (plentiful fruit esters, apple, strawberry, cherry) and honey-drenched specialty malts (fresh baguette, very light toast). It all comes together nicely, especially given the focus on the base malt to help smooth everything else over. Hops are American, or American-styled, but not overdone by any means and the beer is clean and shows no alcohol. Soft, full of white bread and honey, with tons of red and yellow fruit esters and a balancing, gentle citric bitterness. Gentle carbonation and a malty but well-attenuated texture with no flaw or alcohol. Great malt and yeast profile and doesn’t get carried away with the American hops. Nothing flashy whatsoever, but enjoyable and highly drinkable.
3.4 Cask at the Euston tap. A amber orange coloured pour with a a fine off white head. Aroma is. Sweet cakey malts, Toffee, nutty, dried fruits. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, cakey, plum, raisin. Little grape and raisin. Palate is semi sweet lowish carbonation, rounded. Not bad.
3.9 500ml bottle. Pours clear copper/ amber with an off white head. Nose is brown toast, rye, toffee, nutty, earthy and citrus. Smooth, medium carbonation, slight sticky chewy mouth feel. Taste is sweet toffee, biscuit, rye bread, earthy, slight spice, lemon and grapefruit peel and juice. Light bitterness, juicy finish. Good balance. Have loved everything iv tried from Fyne Ales !
3.6 Bottle from Beerhawk. Pours clear amber brown with thin beige head. Aromas of cinnamon boiled sweets toffee and light lemony hop. Taste has chewy treacle toffee with a mild bitter marmalade finish. It has a soft feel with a light sparkle. Earthy and warming export-like ale with a superb bitter citrus balance. Really nice traditional beer.
3.2 September 17, 2015 - at Craft (Covent Garden); handpull cask. Refractive clear burnished copper with a smallish lasting foamy beige head (4-). Aroma is decently floral, but a bit vegetal (green pepper) - not too off-putting, but out of place - Centennial? Taste is very light but smooth - moderately sweet cereal malt and a touch of grassy bitterness - virtually no alcohol - nicely balanced. Slick, lightly syrupy, mild carbonation and quick finishing - not much aftertaste, but I got a little maple somehow. As I don’t mind mildly carbonated beers, this is just fine.
3.8 From a cask at the January 2017 ACAF. Dark clear copper body. Bubbly head. Very appealing aroma dominated by toffee. More richness and complexity in the flavor. Excellent bitter-sweet balance.
3.5 500 ml bottle served cold. Toffee and wet woodland walk aroma. Amber with an off white head that faded to a thin skim. Sultanas, red berries and toffee flavour. Sweetish, medium bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation, gentle finish. The kind of ruminative beer probably best enjoyed quietly, in a subdued, relaxed pub off the beaten track. Autumnal springs to mind.
2.8 Snoeppot ruiken, sinaasappel met snoep en wat kruid proeven, beetje winters, maar wat week, wel fris. 500ml fles, koperkleurig met net van het witte kraag.
3.9 From a bottle. Good head. Honey brown colour and aroma. Some citrus bitter flavour and aftertaste.
3.7 Served too cold initially. Nice looker copper and off white head. Caramel starting to come through as warming. Slight citrus edge with a slight metallic twang. May just be too cold just now . Flavours ’warmed’ as the beer itself ce to room temp
2.5 Pint Glen Nevis Bar. Average beer, quite malty, not overly hopped. Served a bit too cold in this establishment imo.
3.2 500ml bottle, pours a very clear copper with off white cap. Nose is pretty weird, very fruit forward, almost peach like with underlying malt aromas. Taste is really fresh, fruity notes give way to caramel maltiness which finishes ashy and slightly bitter.low carbonation with light to medium body. Pretty tasty stuff.
3.7 500ml bottle. Amber colour with a good off-white head. Aroma is fruity malts and hops, caramel, toffee. Taste follows suit with sweet fruity malt and hop flavours, citrus, caramel, toffee. Mildly bitter finish. Smooth. One of my favourite bitters so far.
