Gänstaller Bräu Kellerbier Mandarina

Gänstaller Bräu Kellerbier Mandarina

Note: physically brewed at Trabelsdorf until Dec 2010 and known as Beck-Bräu Kellerbier.

Gänstaller Bräu Kellerbier Mandarina used to be the same as Gänstaller Bräu Kellerbier. Bavaria Mandarina hops have been used in his Kellerbier for years, replacing Spalter Select for late hopping. The name change was to feature the hop name at pubs. From Early 2018 on Kellerbier Traditionell no longer contains late aromahops.

3.6 From tap at Borefts ’15. Pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma has bread, some malts, grass and hops. Taste is malty with some bread, a bit of yeast and a soft bitter finish. Medium body and carbo. Quite nice.
2.9 Sampled from a 0.33l bottle @ Haandfest 2015. This is a blurry looking colder colored one with a really lovely looking big lasting white head. Smells quite nice also with a little orange zesty fruity hint. Mild but a nice aroma I’d say. Really round and lightdrinkable this. There’s a little grainy bite - but mellow and not too disturbing. Also mellow caramel sweetness. Thin oily in the mouth and it’s really prickling on the bubbles. Mineralish at the end and lingering soft sweet tail. Yeah, actually not horrible at all. Not my favorite genre, and cant say that this totally convinced me either. 30.05.2015
3.3 on tap oro velata buona schiuma persistenza naso piuttosto rustico buona beva discreta secchezza amaro medio erbaceo filo agrume
3.8 Tap at Café Abseits. Slightly cloudy orange color with small white head. Aroma is toasted bread, a bit earthy, but also fresh Mandarina hops noticeable (not too much though!). Taste is nourishing butter, some more bread, nuts and Mandarina hops, lightly bitter finish. Oily-buttery mouthfeel, natural carbonation. A combination of ridiculous drinkability, Franconian moreishness and just the right amount of modern hops to give a contrapoint.
3.5 On Tap @ Café Abseits Orange color, hazy and with a creamy white foam head Nice fruity aroma Not a typical but a great franconian Kellerbier
4.2 Tap @ Cafe Abseit. Pours Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of Fruity and citrusy hops, light orange, bready feel, light honey to it. Taste is rather bitter with loads of fruity hops, a slight yeast note, grassy and clean. Very Good!
3.9 Keg @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Hazy gold pour with a prominent creamy white head. Nose is delicate and inviting. Waxy and pollen. Honey comb. Light melon. Sort covered grass. Delicate grain. Great start. Flavor is a bit more blunt but still very enjoyable. Sweet grain and honey. Light peppery grass. Tea. Pillowy carb. Vibrant body. Cery nice. Can’t imagine just how good this would probably be at the source.
4.7 Big sample from tank @ the brewery. Pours hazy vibrant yellow / pale golden with a big frothy white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty, slightly fruity, floral and pretty much insane fresh with crackers, freshly baked white bread, undefined citrus fruits, a mix of green freshly cut grass and damp freshly harvested hay, dew, minerals, fresh air, lilacs, dried yellow flowers and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, slightly malty, slightly fruity and floral. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly dry, tiny astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with extremely fresh white bread malts, citrus fruit juice, freshly harvested hay, fresh air dew minerality and citrus zest. Insane beer experience. Takes your nose and tastebuds to paradise when in this insanely fresh stage. Wow!
